Chapter 46 - Instant Kill! The Power of Electric Crossbows

nThe shrubland was not far from the highlands of the shelter.

nSu Mo’s footwork told him it was roughly the distance of a university track, around 400 meters.

nOf course, a distance like this would be enough to kill if he had to engage in battle.

nDuring the times of cold weapons, the cavalry would have to complete the movements of striding, jogging, sprinting, and ending on a dash, but it would also be this far.

nIf it was any farther, they would lose too many men to crossbow attacks. If it was any nearer, they might not have enough power built up before they were standing face-to-face with their enemy.

nThe four Kobold Warriors were still lying foolishly on the ground as they searched. The two Kobold Mages had sharper senses, but when they raised their eyes, they were met with a dashing Oreo.

n“Woof woof!

n“Woof woof ruff!”

nImmediately, the Kobold Mages had the Kobold Warriors get into formation as they fixed their alert gazes on the racing Oreo.

n“Good! Good job. Just another moment. Don’t pay attention to me!”

nOreo executed its mission perfectly and yelled as it ran.

nHuskies had amazing stamina, which made them perfect bait in missions like these.

nSu Mo bent double and ran across the yellow soil.

nThe distance grew nearer and nearer.

n250 meters…

n200 meters…

n150 meters…

nWhen he was an estimated 120 meters away from the kobold at the end of the line, Su Mo immediately flattened himself against the ground. At the same time, he retrieved his brand-new, never once used electric crossbow from the storage space.

nHe flipped the switch.

nHe waited for it to conduct its three-second self-check.

nWhen the green light lit up, Su Mo immediately placed his eye on the sight and used it to aim at the kobolds who were still admiring Oreo’s running.

nThe first arrow…

nWithout a doubt, he would aim for a Kobold Warrior!

nHe lightly pressed down on the arrow retention spring, otherwise known as the electric crossbow’s ‘safety key’.

nThe crackling sound of electricity flowed as the 20 AH lithium battery began releasing energy that traveled into the motor.

nThe motor worked and pulled the winder to its fullest extent. It took less than a second for this whole process to complete.

n“Goodbye!”

nSu Mo said softly as he pulled the trigger.

nThere was nothing much to say to a monster. Upon meeting, either he or they would end up dead!

nElectric crossbows were not much different from manual ones in terms of power. However, consecutive shots could be made without stopping on an electric crossbow because the motor and winder helped simplify the process of loading arrows.

nThat was all it took. As a black shadow flitted past, the Kobold Warrior standing on the left side was hit in the head.

nThe massive force hit the Kobold Warrior on its forehead, causing it to fly a whole half a meter backward before slumping onto the ground.

nThe remaining kobolds did not have time to panic before another black shadow flitted past them.

nA crossbow arrow hit another Kobold Warrior standing on the side in the chest.

nThis arrow was supposed to hit another Kobold Warrior in the head, but this Kobold Warrior ended up taking its place because it had turned around frantically.

nWith this buffer, the remaining kobolds frantically huddled and circled the noble Kobold Mages in between them.

n“Hah… Do you think you can get away just like that? You must have a death wish if you walked into my trap just like that!”

nAs Su Mo gazed into the sight, the corner of his mouth curled upward into a smile as he continued pulling the trigger.

nThe sound of the winder, accompanied by the sound of the wind blowing past the grass, combined to form a symphony of death.

nEvery arrow took the life of another monster.

nJust like a dimension reduction strike, the kobolds holding spears did not even have time to figure out where the attacks were coming from before another one of their companions collapsed.

nWithin half a minute.

nOreo did not even need to run out for a second time to attract attention when there was only one Kobold Mage still alive out of the kobold army at the shrubs.

n“Woof… Woof!”

nWhen the Kobold Warrior saw that all its companions were dead, all of its gung-ho disappeared as it suddenly kneeled on the ground and curled up into a ball with its head flat against the ground.

n“Oh.”

nSu Mo raised an eyebrow in slight surprise as he gazed at the kobold’s ‘performance’.

nWas his magic so powerful that it made a kobold surrender?

nAt that moment, Su Mo even felt that it had been too easy. He had not even begun putting in effort yet.

n“Looks like not even magic can overpower my technological gadget.”

nSu Mo chuckled as he caressed his electric crossbow and sprawled on the ground to aim.

nAmidst these kobolds, perhaps it would be a good choice to let this Kobold Mage get away alive.

nHowever… before that…

nSu Mo pressed the winder and opened the magazine to load five crossbow arrows that did not have acid rain on them.

nWhizz!

nA black shadow flitted toward the kobold that was still curled up on the ground, and it was hit backward by a crossbow arrow.

nA jet-black crossbow arrow stuck out from its thin arm.

nFuschia-colored blood flowed as the sounds of the kobold’s howling echoed throughout the wildland. There was nothing other than the sounds of the wind to comfort him, and…

nWhizz!

nAnother crossbow arrow!

nTwo crossbow arrows pinned the kobold on the ground securely. The tail of the arrow was still quivering even after its head had dived into the ground.

nSu Mo put his crossbow arrow away and switched to a Japanese Oak Spear as he walked toward the Kobold Mage.

nOreo had been circling the area and stopped when it realized that things had settled. It stopped about 30 meters away from the Kobold Mage and began barking.

n“Woof! Awoo awoo awoo awoo!

n“Woof?”

nOreo had an excited expression on its face when the Kobold Mage did not answer. It quietly moved ten meters closer before barking again.

n“Woof?”

nNow that Oreo was sure the Kobold Mage could not attack in retaliation, it geared up its four limbs excitedly as it kicked the Kobold Mage that was pinned to the ground square in the head.

nThen, it even used its mouth to take the club the Kobold Mage used to cast magic with.

nOreo was very pleased with how it had taken care of the loser. Su Mo did not know if he should laugh or cry as he walked over.

n“The little thing seemed fine on the surface. Who would have expected it to hold such a massive grudge? Makes sense, though. Its fur was all burnt off.”

nSu Mo smiled and walked relaxedly.

nThis was because of his capabilities and was also due to the feelings of security the electric crossbow brought to him.

nWhy would the kobold’s fireballs seem scary when he had a weapon that could cause so much destruction from over a hundred meters away?

nAt most, he would regard it as a grenade one could not toss from a distance away.

nThe Kobold Mage was a little dazed now that it had been pinned down by crossbow arrows and kicked by Oreo.

nIt shut its eyes in despair when it saw Su Mo walking over with a spear.

n“Woof…”

nA low howl came out from its mouth.

nAt that moment, Su Mo had made a massive impression on him.

nThat man was like Death himself, possessing the power to destroy them from a hidden corner. How could the weak kobolds defend themselves from such a powerful opponent?

nThe Kobold Mage even remembered what its father had told it before dying.

n“If one day, you meet a powerful human as the legends say, remember to never rush forward. They’re incredibly scary!”

nMemories flashed in the Kobold Mage’s brain…

nIt looked like they had to pay for their massacre in the village of humans a few days ago, right?

nHe knew…

nThese were its last memories before dying.

nThen, a clear spring of water was injected into its dry, bleeding throat.

nAs the water was infused, blood stopped gushing out from the wound on its arm. The burning in its chest also dissipated little by little.

nIt opened his eyes in curiosity…

n“It really is a fist as big as the sun!”

nThat was what it thought as it ‘happily’ lost consciousness…

n
