n512 Promotion party (part 2)

nBlake was shocked because only a few people knew about it, while Camilla was shocked and even more annoyed because Michelle would be spending more time with Blake. .𝒄𝒐𝒎

n“I am new here so this is my opportunity to get to know as many people as possible. So, if that is all then I would be taking my leave.” Michelle said as she finally took her eyes off Blake.

n‘Is it me or does Camilla look annoyed?’ Blake couldn’t help but ask as he turned to Camilla who hadn’t stopped staring at Michelle.

nShe is… The system replied.

n‘Why?!’ Blake was confused.

nMost likely because she sees her as a competition. The system answered.

n‘I understand her feelings.’ Blake thought as he took a proper look at Michelle.

nIf Camilla was considered a seductress, Michelle was an Amazon and for some reason, Blake found that hot.

nAfter close to 3 hours, Blake decided it was time to leave the party since he had met every important person.

n“So this is what it feels like to live in a mansion.” Blake said as he admired the majestic palace grounds and the lightning that enhanced the beauty of the night.

n“No, this is what it feels like to be in Prince Bryon’s mansion.” Camilla corrected him.

n“You seem disturbed; what’s on your mind?” Blake asked.

n“Can I join your team?” Camilla asked.

n“What?” Blake was shocked by the request that came out of nowhere. “Is it because of Michelle?”

n“…” Camilla was stunned that Blake had noticed.

n“Yes, but that isn’t the only reason.” Camilla ignored the look on Blake’s face and continued. “Even before now, I have felt that my potential is being wasted as a Captain of a normal unit.”

nThe normal Ash corp units were like the normal police unit on Earth, while the special ops were like the SWAT unit or the military. It was them that did the menial tasks like securing the perimeter and cleaning up the crime scene after the special ops were done with the main task.

n“Also, with your new rank, you will occasionally leave Calton for missions and I want to stay as close to you as possible.” Camilla said.

nIf the normal Major rank and the special ops Major rank was to be compared, the latter would be considered special although they were similar on many levels.

nJust like normal Majors, special ops units were assigned to special ops Majors in addition to their normal unit, and if need be they could request for extra units.

nThe main difference between both ranks lay in their range of activity. Unlike normal Majors that were most times confined to a certain area or city, special ops Majors could function in different cities and even other regions.

nThis was because the special ops role wasn’t something that could be handled with only one’s strength; a higher level of intelligence and resourcefulness, among other skills, was paramount. That was why the number of special ops was way fewer than normal ash cops.

nA perfect example was Blake’s mission at Duststar, almost everyone in the city was working against him, and even though it was more than clear that a lot of the ash cops were corrupt, using brute force wouldn’t have gotten him anywhere.

n“You are right, I feel your strength is being wasted as a normal corp.” Blake’s words lightened up Camilla’s face.

nBack at the magic school, although Camilla wasn’t a threat to him thanks to being faster than her, however, she was still deadly and cunning and couldn’t be underestimated. That was why she had been in the 5th position in their first year and still remained in the top 10 after the 2nd year students got demoted.

n‘If she joins the special ops, she would be able to rack in merits at a faster pace and achievements.’ Blake thought.

n“Alright, I will make a request to Colonel Darius, but I can’t make promises that he would accept my request.” Blake warned her.

n“Thanks a lot, that would be more than enough!” Camilla said as he gave him a hug.

nIf Camilla had joined the special ops right from the start, she would have just been a normal special op because she wasn’t the winner of the regional competition or even part of the team that made it to the finals.

nWhile chatting about her reaction to Michelle’s news, Blake and Camilla finally walked out of the palace’s compound, and as the gentleman he was, Blake stopped a carriage for her to take her home.

n“Congratulations on your promotion.” Camilla said as he took out a gift from her dimensional amulet and handed it to Blake.

n“I almost thought you forgot, thanks dear.” Blake hugged her before she boarded the carriage and left.

n“What a day, time to get home.” Almost instantly his communication amulet soon lit up.

n“Why the hell is Jerry calling me?” Blake was confused and picked up the call.

n“Congratulations on your promotion Major Blake. I have been assigned to be your personal driver from now on.” Jerry said leaving Blake stunned for a few seconds.

n“Thank you, Jerry.” Blake couldn’t help but smile. “Where are you now….”

n“Good night Major Blake.”

n“Good night to you too.” Blake said to Jerry as he alighted from the carriage and went into his house.

n“The only good thing about tonight is that I got to spend time with Camilla.” Blake complained as he let out Ebony and Ivory.

nIsn’t that enough? The system asked.

n“True, it’s just that I am not a fan of social gatherings. I would have preferred spending that time alone with her, rather than receiving jealous glares and chasing away ass lickers.” Blake let out an exhausted sigh.

n“That reminds me.” Blake took out the gift Camilla had given to him.
