nTurning to look back repeatedly at every step, Murong Yun parted with Luo Qianqian reluctantly.
n
nLuo Qianqian smiled at his retiring figure sitting on a swing until the sun set.
nThis was their first time apart.
n
n
nLuo Qianqian knew it must be something of great consequence, otherwise Murong Yun wouldn’t go attend to it himself.
n‘Is there something going on with Imperial Noble Consort’s maiden family? The Gu Family?’ Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but get worried for Murong Yun.
nMurong Yun’s face kept flashing across her mind, she had never had such feelings in both her lives, she kept tossing and turning at night.
nShe told herself to keep calm, soon Murong Yun would be back and there was nothing to worry about. But she just couldn’t help it.
n
n
nFeng Qing came with great news, he had found three more herbal medicines on that trip. Feng Qing was frustrated that he couldn’t find them all, but Luo Qianqian knew Feng Qing must have endured hardships in looking for the three herbals, she comforted Feng Qing that he had already done a great job.
nLuo Qianqian decided that she should ask for a few days’ leave from Master Lingtian for Murong Yun’s condition couldn’t be delayed any further.
nPlus she could feel Murong Yun wasn’t having a great time in court either, with so many political opponents eyeing covetously at him.
nThe next day in the tavern.
n
n
nMaster Lingtian found Luo Qianqian was absent-minded when he taught Luo Qianqian and Murong Xue new moves in person, when he checked on Luo Qianqian, Luo Qianqian would always say everything is fine.
nAfter class, Luo Qianqian decided to talk a walk on the commercial streets where she could look around and do some shopping to distract herself from thinking about Murong Yun all day long.
nShe couldn’t handle the lovesickness!
nLuo Qianqian didn’t take the carriage, Feng Qing followed her to watch out for her.
nLuo Qianqian was dressed in menswear, on one hand it was more martial arts friendly, on the other hand she could wander around more at ease, without worrying of being recognized or harassed.
nIt was a shame that Murong Xue couldn’t accompany her after class for the emperor arranged guards to escort her back to the palace every day.
n
n
nLuo Qianqian was drawn to a group of people flocking to a carriage.
n“What a poor old man, look at him being covered in bruises!”
n“I know, right? But we better watch our mouths, look at the carriage, you can tell the owner is either from a noble family or a wealthy one! You don’t want to be beaten to death, do you?”
n“But I wonder why though, what has the old man done to deserve this?”
n“Nothing big actually, the old man is too slow to make way for the carriage, the owner gets annoyed and ordered his servants to give the old man a good beating.”
n“Oh my, isn’t that too much? Who is sitting in the carriage?”
n“I don’t know either…”
nLuo Qianqian frowned hearing the gabble, “Feng Qing, let’s have a look.”
n
n
nFeng Qing nodded as a response.
nFeng Qing now looked more tanned due to the long trip to look for the herbal medicine, that actually had added splendor to Feng Qing.
nLuo Qianqian and Feng Qing elbow their way to the inner circle of the group.
nA carriage made of rosewood caught their attention, it was such a magnificent carriage.
nTwo servants were beating an old man up with ,bestial words, while the old man was too weak to cry for help, he just swallowed the insult with his arms wrapped around his head as a protection.
n“You useless good-for-nothing! Are you blind or what? Haven’t you see the carriage coming?” one servant kept kicking the old man on the leg.
n“How great, you think I will let you go if you just play dumb? No way! I will lock you up and give you more beating too find out who are you and who sent you, are you trying to hurt my master? Say it already!” the other servant put his hand on the old man’s neck, he made as if to strangle the old man.
nThe old man was too weak to make any sound, but the servants took the silence as a provoking gesture, one servant rolled up his sleeves and gnashed his teeth, “I have a way to make you speak!”
nWith that he lift his right foot, ready to kick the old man on his head!
n“Stop!” someone emerged from nowhere and kicked the servant to the other side like a flash.
nThe servant slumped with a thud to the ground, he winced as a sharp pain shot through his left leg.
n“Who are you?” the other servant picked the servant who got hurt from the ground and asked.
nA beautiful man met their eyes, “he” answered, “You don’t need to know who I am, what you need to know is you were doing a wrong thing by beating up an old man like that!”
n
n
nThe servant replied, “Mind your own business, do you know who our master is! You are courting death!”
nLuo Qianqian didn’t pay them any attention, she bent down and picked the old man up from the ground, “Are you alright, elder?”
nThe old man didn’t say anything.
nLuo Qianqian started to wonder probably this man was indeed a mute.
nShe was aflame with indignation, she felt so sorry for the poor old man, she decided to defend him.
nLuo Qianqian raised her head and glared at the two servants, “I don’t care who your master is, you need to get lost!”
nIt wasn’t until now did she recognize the two servants, they were Mu Chaoyang’s minions!
n“Ah~ I know who you guys are.” Luo Qianqian didn’t flinch, but she decided she needed to get this done and over with as soon as possible for she didn’t want to have anything to do with Mu Chaoyang.
nThinking about Mu Chaoyang’s proposal, Luo Qianqian felt disgusted.
nThe man in the carriage was intrigued by the noise outside, he lifted the curtain and shot a glimpse at the young “man” who was being a hero.
n‘The man looks so familiar! I must have seen him before!’ with that in mind Mu Chaoyang alighted from the carriage.
n
