Chapter 58

n

nThe man that showed up was someone powerful and should not be taken lightly. Arthur knew that, so he jumped and retreated a few steps.

nOne thing he had yet to do was to add his free points. Those nights in the nightclub had got him to level 25, which meant he had a few free points to use.

nFree points: 25

nBefore, back when he was only a human, Arthur earned 3 free points per level, but now, as a dragon, he got 5.

nThese 25 points were easy to distribute, 15 in strength and 10 in agility. Arthur was fighting more in close-combat, and that man was carrying a sword, so the fight would probably be melee.

n“You’re the person we are looking for, right? Finally!” The man said.

nArthur was eager to fight him. He had never faced a strong enemy like that man. Could he win against him? Or should he run?

nNo, running was not an option. Where would he run, anyway? To the city? The guards would most likely think he was a thug running from justice, and help that man in the end.

nThe Doom Order had money, and its members were wealthy. They could bribe the guards in no time, and Arthur would end up in a bad situation.

nDespite all that, Arthur felt confident of winning against that man.

n“I’m a dragon. I can not lose to this lowly human.” Arthur thought.

nTwo blazing wings formed behind his back, improving his mobility by a large margin. The man had a surprised face after seeing it. Only a few people could use abilities that made flying possible.

nArthur would not give the man any change to retaliate. With two flaming wings and claws, he flew towards the still shocked man.

nThe speed Arthur had with his wings and his newly added agility points was no joke. He could barely be seen.

nIn an instant, Arthur was in front of the man again, with his flaming sharp claws aiming for vital points. A deafening sound, as the claws hit the sword. Arthur had the upper hand, as the man was sent flying, almost hitting a nearby tree.

n

n“What?”

nThe man could not believe it. Few had been the times that he lost to someone in a direct exchange of blows. It damaged his pride.

nIt was his time to show his hidden cards. The cultist drew magical symbols in a quick manner, all of which were drawn on his sword. These symbols shone, and more swords appeared flying around them.

nA sword formation, it seemed, or maybe all these swords were only illusional. Arthur had no idea.

nWhat he could do was to keep attacking that man with everything he got, until he won. Arthur flew once again towards the man, trying to hit him with his claw.

nThe man was ready this time, and all the surrounding swords flew towards Arthur, attempting to stop his attack.

nSix swords came to clash with Arthur, and he blocked each one of them using his claws. These swords were sent flying after that, as there was no one wielding them to withstand the force of the impact, but they returned.

nIt did not matter how many times Arthur blocked the swords, they would fly back and try to strike him again. A pain in the ass, and that also gave the cultist more time to prepare his other attacks.

nIf the fight continued like that, Arthur would eventually lose. One sword hit him on the leg, and it started to bleed. The number of health points it took away was minimal, but if all the six swords started to hit, then he would be in trouble.

nArthur gazed at the cultist, and noticed that the sun had moved, and a shadow formed behind him. It was the perfect opportunity to use the void step, so he did.

nIn an instant, Arthur was no longer flying and blocking the swords. He had vanished from everyone’s sight, and the cultist was surprised once again.

n“Where did you go, bastard?”

nInside the shadowy part of the dream realm, Arthur could see him, although a dark curtain was blocking his sight. He went behind the man, and then got out of that place, appearing right behind him.

nIt was impossible for the man to react in time. Arthur pierced his claw on the man’s chest, opening a huge hole in it. The damage that attacked caused alone was nearly fatal, but there were also the flames on Arthur’s claws, which made the attack even more powerful.

n“H- How?” The cultist said in a dying tone.

nArthur felt something was amiss. The cultist was level 52. He could not die that easily.

n“Were the humans this weak?” Arthur thought, and just as he did, the man in front of him turned into a black substance, and entered the ground beneath.

n“What the hell?”

nArthur gazed at the ground, trying to look for something strange, but nothing happened. It was as if the man had disappeared.

nThe swords he had summoned were still flying, but were not moving at all.

nIt was at that moment that a portal opened from the ground, and the same cultist that Arthur fought came out of it, except it was no longer entirely human.

nA black substance formed around the man’s skin, and it even created horns, wings, and claws. The same thing that happened with the king back in the palace.

n“Haha, haha. You are finished now. The god gave me the power I needed to end you.”

nThe god that they talked about before was interfering in the fight. It seemed he could not participate in with his own body, but that did not stop him from helping his lackeys using other means.

nThings were not looking good for Arthur, as that cultist was way stronger than he was. It turned into a demon.

nThe demon got out of the portal, and as he did, it flew towards Arthur, fast. He moved his hand and a sword came flying to it. When he touched the sword, the black substance moved from his body to the sword, covering it.

nArthur almost did not react in time, but he did, and both his claws and that black sword clashed. This time, it was Arthur who was sent flying, hitting a tree, and breaking it.

nIt looked that facing the demon in one and one combat was impossible, but what else Arthur could do? Fighting melee was his specialty, and if that did not work, nothing else would.

nAn idea came to his mind, one that he was afraid wouldn’t work.

n“I have no time to think if it will work or not.”

nThe attacks kept coming, and Arthur was sending flying in all exchanges. His health points were getting lower, and lower.

n“You can’t win against me.” The demon said, laughing like a maniac.

nHe was right. Arthur could not win against him at all. At least not if the fight continued the way it was, but Arthur had a plan.

nThere was something inside his small backpack, which could reverse the tides.

nArthur got up from the ground with his body covered with wounds after getting hit multiple times by the sword.

nHe was ready to use everything he got to win. With his fire wings, he flew towards the demon.

n“What are you trying to do? Well, it does not matter. Nothing will work against me.”

nWhen Arthur was almost reaching him, he vanished. It was the void step again.

n“This time it won’t work.”

nThe demon was sure anything that Arthur did would not work. He was wrong.

nAs soon as Arthur stepped inside the void realm, he opened up his magical backpack, and looked for the sword he got from that temple. The obsidian-like sword that he could barely lift.

nArthur only tried to use it without his dragon transformation, and his new added points to strength.

n“My transformation doubles my stats, which means I have 150 strength. If I can’t at least do one swing with this sword then I’ll kill my self.”

nHe grabbed the sword, which fell into the ground instantly. It was heavy. But after he used all of his strength, he could use it.

nArthur put the immense sword on his shoulders, went behind the demon, and left the void realm.

nThe demon was not surprised to see Arthur behind him. He turned around, and blocked the upcoming attack with his sword. Never the thought of losing that exchange passed through his mind.

nA sword would not make that much of a difference in his mind, and that was the mistake that caused his death.

nWhen both swords met, the small sword of the demon broke in less than a second. Arthur’s sword did not stop there, and it cut the demon in half.

nTwo sides of the same person, and a river of blood in between. Just like that, the demon was dead.

nArthur fell on the ground, tired after just one swing. It was at that moment that something came out of his two-handed sword, and it tied up to his right arm.

nIt was similar to that black substance that the demon had, and it tried to cover the rest of his body.

n
