Chapter 407: Challenge
Even though Shane was disguised and his mana fluctuations hidden from mana radars, his robe was black in color in stark contrast to the pure white surroundings, completely swept through with nothing but snow!
As such, his cover was blown and he attracted the guards’ attention which caused them to report everything to the shelter captain.
Under normal circumstances, the shelter wouldn’t take any pre measurements against a single individual who was about to attack them.
However, everyone living inside the radiant mountain ring dimension had already heard about the weird attacks of a robed man who had a mysterious mask hiding his appearance.
Because of that, a small mass panic filled the entire shelter hall upon receiving the report before the shelter captain voiced out his instructions.
“Based on our intel, we either have to face the real deal, who can summon his soldiers out of his own body, or the ‘Faker’ who has to use a Space door to do this!
If we go with both possibilities we have to prevent the infiltrator from being able to focus on manifesting a portal, let alone to take out a Space door, alright?
I along with the strongest guards will welcome the robed man with our blades that will feast on his blood, while everyone else will calm down the citizens and tell them to stay inside their house!
The emergency signal has already been sent out, but I’m not sure how long it will take before the reinforcement arrives, or if the reinforcement involves elite units!”
Some time had passed since the announcement, and Shane had appeared on top of the shelter walls, only to be greeted by the Shelter captain and the strongest units that were present.
He realized that he hadn’t been so sneaky in his approach after all and that everyone inside the shelter had now been alerted of his infiltration.
Nevertheless, what made matters worse was that even the race’s higher-ups outside the Primordial dimension should have heard of his attempt to conquer the shelter.
As such, reinforcement would arrive soon!
This was something Shane had wanted to prevent because it was annoying to face the reinforcements that would probably emerge from the Dimension Portal soon while having to conquer the rest of the shelter.
Unfortunately, it was only a nuisance and slightly frustrating but not an impossible task, because his capabilities had been underestimated once again.
Shane had read the news about him or rather the disguised man and what kind of intel there had been posted.
Thanks to that, he knew that nobody was aware of his combat prowess as everyone thought he was only leading the attack in disguise.
Meanwhile, Miriam, the Hidden Phoenix, was called the true leader of the group which was amusing for Shane.
However, even more important was that the intel spoke mostly about the fact that he had destroyed the spatial distortion zone before manifesting a portal that allowed someone to emerge from it.
The same intel was spread about the Faker that had to use the Space door to bring forth a small army of powerful opponents.
Unfortunately, the intel was wrong, and Shane was the true leader, who was stronger than Miriam, while the Hidden Paradise’s portals were different from normal spatial distortion.
Due to the effort the shelter captain showed by appearing right in front of him, and the mana fluctuations Shane already perceived from the Dimension portal, he could only smile behind his mask before he unsheathed the Invincible Scimitar.
“Let me show you something that you might have grossly misunderstood! If I were you, I would be careful now!”
At that moment, Shane exerted the Light steps movement technique, the Slaughterer’s Path martial art technique, while releasing his distinct bloodlust-killing-intent that enveloped him tightly.
Pushing his feet up from the ground, the terrace of the shelter walls cracked under the strength of an Expert stage with a perfect physique coupled with his loyal tamed beast’s amplification, and a mana purity of 97% as he had already appeared right in front of the Shelter captain.
Only then did Shane circulate mana through his body, while transferring more of it from the Hidden Paradise to himself that strengthened him, further.
His mind was calm as he said,
“I would love to say that you should pay more attention to your opponents next time, but unfortunately, I have to tell you that there will never be a second time!”
Shane brandished the Invincible Scimitar that sliced through the Shelter captain, who could only stare at him in disbelief, too surprised to meet a sudden death.
After that, Shane averted his attention to massacre the remaining opponents that all had a mana purity at around 90% without hesitation.
They had wanted to attack him with their high-grade weapons but were too slow to react.
The millisecond that they had wasted in reaction time cost them their lives as the razor-sharp scimitar cut, stabbed, and sliced through their bodies like a scissor through paper.
It was only then that Shane released the Conquerors, Umbra, and Cosmo, who had heard and seen everything, allowing them to conclude that this shelter conquest would be slightly more difficult than the prior ones.
Taking a deep breath, he marched towards the shelter’s core area where a few thousand guards were already placed.
This was annoying, but nothing the Conquerors couldn’t defeat!
Among the few thousand guards and reinforcements that had already arrived, there were only a few and somewhat troublesome opponents. However, none of them posed a risk that Shane, Miriam, the former Boreas mercenaries, and a handful of other Conquerors couldn’t take care of!
However, before paying attention to the guards, Shane focused on destroying the structure that caused the spatial distortion zone.
This was extremely important because not only could he save others with the Space Jump ability of Cosmo he could use, but also attack and focus on killing the strongest opponents!
Defending had never been Shane’s strength, and Cosmo was much better at observing the battle, and strategically using his spatial affinity.
His furry tamed beast was skilled at rescuing the Conquerors while making the battle even more chaotic for the opponents than it already was.
Upon entering the central area of the shelter, Shane was forced to face more than a dozen opponents that swarmed at him from all sides, preventing him from approaching the area he wanted to go to.
Thus, he had to order the long-distance units of the Conquerors to destroy the spatial distortion zone.
This was a minor inconvenience and swiftly dealt with as more than 100 arrows enveloped in all kinds of affinities pierced into the structure that exploded a moment later.
The massive explosion released a strong wave of wind caused by the sheer mass of transmuted mana. This resulted in the malfunctioning of the utilized neutral mana that was required to activate the spatial distortion zone.
Only a moment later, Shane noticed that he could utilise Remote use the Space Jump ability once again.
However, instead of doing so, he decided to finish off the opponents in front of him.
With his speed that was enhanced by circulating mana through his body, the bloodlust-killing-intent that was tightly wrapped around his body and the Light steps movement technique, he was several times faster than anyone else.
Even if he were to use only his physical strength, Shane would already be faster than Miriam while she utilized a movement technique!
As such, he could easily start his massacre and deal with the opponents in front of him, opening a path for everyone to squeeze through.
Their final destination was the Dimension portal so as to destroy the reinforcement the moment they emerged!
At the same time, they had to take control of everyone else.
It was only at that moment that Cosmo opened a large spatial portal above the most crowded area of the guardians as a massive horned snake emerged from it.
Umbra started with his own slaughter, while Cosmo continued to observe everything, making Shane proud of having such useful tamed beasts.
Out of a sudden, without a prior warning, his connection to the unhatched lesser forest spirit seemed to strengthen and it somehow felt as if it was demanding something.
What the lesser forest spirit was seemingly longing for was the mana stored inside the Hidden Paradise, and Shane couldn’t help but smile at that.
‘You want more mana? Take it!!’
