Chapter 439: Sea dragon boat
Now that Shane had solved two out of three missions he was asked to complete, he took a look at the last mission once again.
Drowning egg-thief: Enter the ‘Clear abyss ocean’ dimension and steal an egg of a King serpent. Coordinates X:164334 Y:237z3 Z:74522 The stolen egg has to be in the host’s possession for 10 minutes.
Customized restriction: The host is not allowed to put the stolen egg inside his soul world!
Even though the mission didn’t sound extremely difficult, Shane decided to tweak his earlier plan.
He would wait with evolving Viridy until he had finished the last mission because he felt that Viridy might be important for it.
In the end, the most important aspects of the mission he had been given were that the egg had to be in his possession for 10 minutes and that he was not allowed to put the egg in his soul world.
‘My soulbonds count as a part of me too, right? They’re bound to my soul after all!’
Despite not knowing whether this thought was correct or not, Shane simply decided that it would be like this.
Anything else wouldn’t make sense to him.
Now that a few days had passed since he had finished the last mission, the information department Talia had created had gathered some intel for him.
This intel was about the Clear Abyss ocean dimension, its dangers, the beast living in the dimension, and what else he had to pay attention to.
Furthermore, there was also detailed information about the King serpent, Shane had already read several times.
With the items the management department had procured for him, he wouldn’t face many problems staying inside the clear abyss ocean dimension for several days, if not weeks.
The only obstruction was on his movement as it would be severely restricted.
Even with flippers that could be enhanced by mana, it would be difficult for Shane to attain the same speed he could reach on the ground.
‘At least my affinities should work properly underwater…I can evade attacks by creating a spatial portal, or using the wood affinity to move around on the ground…I guess it is better than nothing?’
Even if Shane didn’t like the last mission, he had to solve it.
There were too many unfinished tasks, and the last thing he wanted to do was to slow down everyone’s plans.
Right now, he was far ahead of everything the others had scheduled for him, but that was not the issue right now.
He wanted to meet the creator and question him about everything that had been tormenting his mind for weeks.
There had to be a proper reason for the creator to suddenly abandon the races that relied on the Primordial dimensions and system, otherwise, his actions wouldn’t make any sense.
Maybe he had also completed his task, and decided that both the system and Primordial dimensions drained too much energy in their upkeep?
Shane couldn’t know the answer, but he wanted to figure it out as soon as possible, which caused him to be restless about finishing the last mission.
‘If I find the King Serpents’ cave fast enough, it would save precious time. They have a high population and are considered Overlord beasts, but that is no problem considering my own strength and the help of my soulbonds!’
With the necessary items prepared and the final decision about the rough timing for Umbra’s quality enhancement, and both Cosmo and Viridy’s evolution in his mind, Shane approached the Neptua Ladra region’s dimension portal.
He would talk to Levi and Lili about the things that were on his mind later, but for now, the mission he wanted to solve as quickly as possible was more important.
Wearing a wetsuit, Shane put the mask over his face.
There was a cylindrical-shaped device with a small tube in his mouth with enough oxygen to breathe underwater for several days.
Shane had multiple of them, so that was one less problem to worry about.
The boots he was wearing could change into flippers if he circulated faint currents of mana through them.
As such, there shouldn’t be a problem even if the dimension portal threw him right into the ocean which was what he expected to happen.
Yet, contrary to his expectations, the moment he stepped through the dimension portal, he appeared on a little island that had the size of a small room.
Only the Dimension portal was left standing on it, but that was fine with him.
Opening the system’s holographic screen, Shane looked at his coordinates while taking a quick glance at the direction he had to go.
“It should take….one day to swim towards the stated coordinates…really?” Shane felt as if the system was playing around with him, but instead of being disappointed, he took a deep breath as he smiled faintly.
Because it had been unclear where exactly he would land, and how far the coordinates would be from his starting point, Shane had prepared several speedboats that were also called sea dragon boats!
Smiling lightly, he accessed his spatial ring to take out one of the sea dragon boats before he sat on it.
Because the boat had to be of use inside the Primordial dimensions, there was no high technology engine, but instead a huge complex of runes that created ripples inside the water, pushing the boat forward.
As long as enough mana was inserted, the sea dragon boat was able to reach a devastating speed, but that was not what Shane required.
Because the oceans were dangerous waters, Shane was not sure what territories he had to avoid and where he could drive past without worries.
He was not afraid of the beasts within the ocean, but more about the dangers of nature, and the ocean itself!
As such, he didn’t utilize a lot of mana to empower the sea dragon boat as he drove at a steady pace through the ocean, straight towards his destination.
While riding the sea dragon boat, Shane tested out how useful his affinities were underwater.
Thus, he could experiment without being inside the water as he manifested roots in his hand which he shot into the water while doing the same with darkness needles.
The wood and darkness affinity could be used versatilely, but at the same time, they relied on speed and lethality.
While the wood affinity’s control was drastically reduced due to the water, the darkness affinity was basically useless inside it.
Only the darkness shroud could be used to some extent.
As for the nature affinity, it could only be used to increase the growth speed of the roots while using the wood affinity. Other than that, it was not exactly usable in Shane’s current situation.
Fortunately, the spatial affinity worked well without any issues, and with the help of Cosmo’s ability, he could perfectly control the spatial affinity, creating more than four spatial doors with their counterpart in pairs, at once.
After he was done testing, Shane looked around the ocean that seemed to be endless, only to see the wonders of the vast waters.
Passing millions of wild maritime beasts, Shane could only smile ruefully, thinking that it was a shame for the Primordial dimensions to disappear in the near future.
“I wonder what will happen with the beasts that have been born inside the Dimensions…will they be released to other planets, or will they cease to exist as well?”
