Chapter 464: Rage

A premonition filled his mind, which morphed into a gruesome reality. He witnessed something he had long since forgotten to be even possible as the dust settled allowing him to witness the battle clearly.

Not only could he and his friends kill others, but that could also go the other way around.

Seeing how some Valkyries were punctured by the mana spiked tail that dragged them along, Shane’s face lost all of its color.

He froze in place and even forgot the remaining nine Greater Darkness Lynxes as his eyes were on Aisha, who had thrown herself in front of Frer, who had already been covered in severe injuries.

The mana spiked tail had pierced through Aisha’s chest, barely halting a few millimeters away from Frer’s eyes.

Like a fountain of water, blood spurted on Frer’s face as Aisha smiled at her best friend. Her face was smeared red as blood trickled out of the corners of her lips.

“Why are you suddenly feeling so warm? Am I healed?”

Since her birth, Aisha had been different compared to everyone else. She felt extremely uncomfortable with being touched by others because the sensation was icy as if she would freeze if she were to be uncomfortably close to someone for a longer duration.

Only a few were an exception to this which included Shane, whose touch was not uncomfortable for her, and instead warm.

Frer was also an exception, but Aisha had always felt comfortable being around her.

However, this had changed. She felt a sudden warmth coming from Frer, whose entire face was smeared with blood.

Yet, this didn’t prevent the little girl’s eyes from turning wet as she began to sob.

At that moment, the Lesser Behemoth, whose spiked tail had halted after hitting more than half of the entire Valkyrie team began to move once again.

With a rapid movement, Aisha and the other Valkyries that had been hit were dragged along as the Behemoth lashed out with its tail, squashing the Valkyries one after another mercilessly.

Aisha had let go of Frer, who had long since been drained of the last ounce of mana within her.

Nevertheless, despite despair and sorrow eating at her heart, she forced herself to stand up and fight, to rescue the person that was the most important to her- Aisha.

Shane couldn’t believe his eyes and for a split second felt that he was imagining the horrors unfolding in front of him, that everything was a terrifying dream he would wake up from.

Sadly, that wasn’t the case.

The first thing he witnessed were the Valkyries being punctured, with Aisha’s chest being pierced through.

This had already been a shock, but it was not long after Shane saw her being squashed under the ground that his heart began to ache as if it was being crushed.

His eyes turned crimson, and the bloodlust radiating from him intensified, reaching an extent like never before.

Shane felt the intent to kill surging within him; as his heart turned icy cold and ruthless. A tremendous amount of mana equal to several times he could store in his body was transferred from his soul world into his mana pool.

While circulating it through his body, Shane’s skin was bursting open, while the bloodlist-killing-intent filled the surroundings over a wide area. Spanning the radius of several meters, it suppressed every living being around him forcing them to the ground the moment his desire to kill reached them.

The Greater Darkness Lynxes could barely escape the domain-like state of his bloodlust-killing-intent as he took his first step.

With loud noises, Shane’s skin was shredding itself apart once more while his bones could barely cope with the pressure released by the enormous amount of mana circulating through his body.

At the same time, some of the soil below him gave in, dispersing in the wind as Shane noticed that his empty hand was itching.

Beneath the blood and ruptured skin, he could see a small black scale that looked exactly like Umbra’s scales.

However, Shane ignored the fact that his connection with Umbra had suddenly improved..

It was as if their soul connection had been solidified, increasing their connection with each other as well as the traits they did not share.

There were many things that had changed, but the most prominent was the wild instincts of Umbra being shared with his rational mind that had barely control over everything…until now.

Seeing how Aisha, one of his few good friends had died right in front of him, Shane was unable to think rationally anymore.

It was as if his mind went blank, with the only slightly rational thought of his constant utilisation of the nature affinity, preventing his body from tearing itself to pieces.

His primal instincts caused this, and without the healing properties of the nature affinity, he would have long since collapsed on the ground.

However, by being able to heal to a certain extent, only to be torn apart once again, Shane could exhibit much higher strength than his body would normally be able to handle.

Thus, his strength increased exponentially.

In the end, it was only when Shane took the second step that the Lesser Behemoth began to truly realise that something grand was about to happen. Its instincts forced it to retract its mana spikes, while it transformed from a lean and agile creature into the bulkiest shape it could take.

A deep sensation of fear embedded itself in the Behemoth’s heart as it shivered in fear to sense that an ominous, crimson-red hue enveloped its entire body.

At that moment, dizziness overcame the Behemoth and it had to use a large amount of mana to regain its senses, only to realise that its entire body was becoming heavier by the minute.

It was just at that moment that it realised that time seemed to have slowed down.

Turning its head seemed to take an eternity, but the Lesser Behemoth craned its neck to see a being emerge from the human-sized spatial portal that had manifested in front of it.

The being didn’t have the slightest resemblance to the human race it had been attacking only a moment before.

Behind it was a seemingly gigantic monster enveloped in a shroud of blood and the endless thirst for the blood of none other than the Lesser Behemoth itself!

Utilizing its entire mana at once, the Lesser Behemoth enveloped itself as well as possible, just to realise that it had made a big mistake by attacking the human race.

The memories of its life flashed through its mind, allowing the Lesser Behemoth to recall every single moment once again before it roared in frustration.

A moment later time seemed to return to its normal pace as the Invincible Scimitar was creaking as if it would break owing to the sheer mass of mana that had been inserted into it.

Slicing through the Lesser Behemoth’s hide as if it was butter, the Invincible Scimitar vibrated wildly, ending the life of the being that had enraged its master.

Closing the spatial portal Shane had conjured to attack the Lesser Behemoth, he didn’t cast another backward glance at the dying beast whose tail he had cut off.

This prevented it from using its last strength to smash it into the unfortunate Valkyries, who didn’t even resemble human beings anymore.

Shane was far from calm, he was seething in pure, unadulterated rage, and if he could, he would have traveled back in time to do something…anything to save Aisha.

However, what he saw was only half of Aisha’s face that was unscathed with a faint smile on her face as her silver-white eyes stared lifelessly at the sky.
