nDragging himself towards the shelter, Shane noticed that not only was he exhausted, but also Umbra seemed to have lost the vigorous luster of his eyes.
nShane felt apologetic thinking about the ferocious fight he had been in. He had been rolling over the ground as if he was a pig in a mud field, and Umbra was tossed and turned with him as well all along. Sadly, there was nothing he could do about it.
nAs such, he decided to give Umbra some nice food after getting a good sleep in order to gain some energy.
nHe was bombarded with multiple notifications as he neared the shelter entrance but he was too exhausted to even look at them. His mind could not comprehend anything anymore.
nThe guards around the shelter gates gazed oddly at Shane who was smeared with dirt and blood and walked towards them with dead-tired eyes.
nHis arms were full of small cuts and sore burst open blisters from mining way too long. The guards wondered about what exactly the youth in front of them had gone through to look like this. Shane looked bedraggled and it took him every ounce of his energy to keep placing one foot after the other.
nNoticing that the young man in front of them could barely stand, they went closer to him to offer him help. They also noticed a one-meter-long black scaled snake on his shoulder, looking equally tired.
nThey immediately thought that Umbra was a tamed beast because wild beasts would have normally attacked them.
nIt could have also been a mind-controlling beast, but the guards looked extremely young and were most likely new guards, unaware of the Primordial Dimension's dangers!.
nBeasts that could control humans such as parasites or mind-controlling beasts were rare and even more so within the basic primordial dimensions.
nHowever, that didn't mean they didn't exist there!
nThe Radiant mountain ring was a new dimension and the young guards should have been more careful, which they weren't. At the moment, they were more concerned about Shane's health and the worst-case scenario to them would have been the marginal possibility of Umbra being a hostile beast instead of a tamed beast.
nThis was a rare trait exhibited by some humans that could also backfire. They could probably meet their deaths if they were to help the wrong humans or maybe even foolishly trust other races.
nThey hadn't even considered that Umbra could have been anything else other than a tamed beast. Pitying him, they helped Shane get inside the gate after he barely managed to show them his race by ordering the system.
nThat was everything Shane could do as exhaustion took over him, forcing his eyes to fall shut as he was carried inside the shelter by the guards.
n----
nAn unknown amount of time had passed when he unwillingly opened his eyes, as multiple emotions and thoughts were transmitted into his head.
nStraightening his body, Shane willed himself to not give in to his body's need for more sleep. He ignored his body's cries for more rest and instead began to wonder how he had reached the bed in the first place.
nHis sleepiness was immediately washed away and Shane jumped up when he noticed that he was in a small room. It looked like the common Inn rooms he had stayed in earlier within the DeepMountain shelter.
nSighing in relief, Shane tried to move a little, only to notice that his knees were slightly sluggish while his arms ached extremely with each tiny movement.
n'Maybe I shouldn't overwork myself next time?' Shane thought while smiling weirdly.
nHe still wore the same clothes as before and had dirtied the whole bed during his sleep.
nThe room reeked of dirt and blood and Shane knew that it was his smell, as he turned towards the basin that stood in the corner of the room.
nThere was already cold water inside and Shane saw his reflection, shocking him only slightly.
nHis handsome face was completely smeared with blood and dirt, making him look even worse than a roadside beggar in the current era. He decided to wash his face, ignoring the transmitted thoughts in his mind.
nUmbra was hungry and nagging at him for food. He slithered around Shane in protest trying to get his attention. When all his attempts failed, he climbed over Shane's leg.
nPutting Umbra back on the ground, Shane took off his clothes in order to change into a new set after bathing.
nWashing up, he tried to recall how he had entered the Inn. But try as he might, he only remembered the moment when the young guards had walked towards him.
nEverything else was blurry and though he racked his brains he couldn't remember anymore, which had never happened to him ever before.
nThinking that the guards had brought him to the inn, Shane decided to return the favor he owed them, as he put on his second set of clothes.
nThe cold and clear water within the basin was now full of dirt, while Shane's distinct facial features could be seen once again.
nUmbra seemed to be clean and he put him back on his shoulder, as Umbra sulked in his mind.
nSomehow Umbra seemed to behave like a 6-year-old girl, trying to attract his attention by crying and annoyingly voicing out her babbling and unclear opinion.
nNoting that, Shane who had never really thought about having his own family, decided that he would disregard such a thought for a long time because Umbra alone was enough work for him.
nIf Umbra was already a huge piece of work, how would this work with multiple tamed beasts in addition to having an own family??
nShane couldn't even imagine something like that and starting a family was the last thing on his to-do list. Currently, there were many other things that needed his attention and time because too many things were more important in his opinion.
nAfter he washed up and changed into a new set of clothes, Shane took out a few dishes that he had already purchased a few days ago and placed them in front of him on the table.
nJumping down from his shoulder once again, Umbra devoured these dishes like they were nothing. Shane was forced to take out another batch of dishes before he himself began to eat slowly when he heard his belly rumbling.
nBoth he and Umbra hadn't eaten for quite some time and it was only logical for them to be hungry.
nShane wasn't sure how long he had slept for. He opened the system in order to figure out the date in order to roughly estimate his sleeping time.
nSeeing the date, Shane was slightly shocked as he seemed to have slept for roughly 24 hours.
nWithout caring about the dish in front of him, Shane immediately looked at his notifications. He was eager to check the status of the Mythic mission that he had hopefully accomplished as he read through the system notification.
nHost accomplished Mythic-Mission
nJumping up in joy, Shane finally remembered that he had sold some of the mana crystals that he had mined and calmed down.
nHad he failed the mission only because he was tired, it would have been embarrassing and extremely wasteful. However, he had successfully completed the mission that allowed him to purchase his first Mythic manual, as soon as he had enough funds.
nShane wasn't exactly sure how expensive the Mortal-(Mythic Body refining manual would be but it wouldn't surprise him if it was even more expensive than a Tier-2 (Gold) mana purifying technique due to its value.
nThinking about funds, Shane began to wonder how much wealth he had accumulated until now, as he took a glance at his finances.
nHis eyes widened involuntarily while a broad radiant smile blossomed on his face.
