nChapter 73: Plot of the Couple (I)
nThe imperial doctor arrived. He checked on the emperor and applied some ointment on his arm, but his injury wasn’t serious.
nShi replaced the dislocated joints of Long’s arm in time, so there was no big problem.
n
n
nBut in fact, Long was a well-fed modern person who hadn’t suffered much hardship. In addition, he was an emperor in the current life. So, he seldom suffered any injuries.
nTherefore, when his arm was out of joint… he felt extremely hurt!
nAfter the doctor was ordered to leave, Shi looked at Long apologetically.
n“Are you all right?”
n
n
nSeeing that Shi was very guilty, Long gave a long sigh. “Don’t worry, I’m fine…”
nShi still felt very sorry and sat on the edge of the bed. Long was lying on the bed in pajamas. He had taken off his night cloak before the doctor arrived.
nLong sat up from the bed and Shi was shocked. “Why are you sitting up?”
nLong smiled bitterly. “Well, although I’m not as manly as you, great general, it’s okay for me to sit up, alright?”
n
n
nShi found it very funny. “What do you mean by ‘not manly’?”
nLong curled his lips. “Well, I’m the emperor. I haven’t suffered much since I was a child, so… I’m afraid of pain.”
nShi couldn’t help laughing.
nLong got mad because of embarrassment. “Why are you laughing? It’s normal, okay? Only you are here, so I just told the truth. I won’t say that to anyone else.”
n“All right.” Shi slightly raised the corners of his mouth, “Well… is it still painful after the ointment was applied?”
nLong shook his head. “The imperial doctor’s medicine works well. I feel much better now. I also feel cool on my wrist.”
n
n
nShi nodded. “It was all your fault. You were silent, so I thought you were a sneaky assassin. Your footsteps sounded a little weird. Otherwise, I’d hit you more severely.”
nSpeaking of that, Shi felt a little worried.
nEarlier, he just reacted instinctively. Because when he felt someone want to touch him, he twisted his arm. If he didn’t do that, but directly fight back with the dagger hidden under the mattress, would Long still be alive?
nLong knew that he was wrong, so he only blinked innocently. “Qingzhou, I didn’t think so much… I just wanted to give you a surprise…”
nShi didn’t look good, because he was both angry and frightened. “But you gave me a fright!”
nLong touched his nose and had to smile to please Shi.
nShi couldn’t do anything to him. “It’s so late. Have a good rest.”
nLong nodded. “Okay, Qingzhou, come to join me.”
n
n
nShi nodded. “Okay.”
nAfter cleaning up the place, Shi took off his outerwear and didn’t blow out the candle. He was afraid that he couldn’t see it when there was something wrong with Long.
nLong hugged Shi in bed and fell asleep.
nShi cautiously avoided Long’s injured arm. In fact, he wanted to ask Long not to hold him for fear of accidentally touching his arm, but Long insisted on it. At last, Shi was convinced by the expression in Long’s eyes and allowed him to hold him while sleeping.
nThat night, Shi Qingzhou slept very cautiously. He was afraid that he would touch Long’s arm if he moved.
nThe next day, when Long woke up, he had already missed the morning meeting. Therefore, he just didn’t get up.
nHis arm was still a little painful and numb. He didn’t know if it was because of the ointment last night.
nShi was not around. He felt the temperature in the quilt beside him and found it was cold. It seemed that Shi had left for a while, but he didn’t even know when he got up!
nAfter sitting up from the bed, Long touched his arm and frowned.
nJust then, Shi went in from outside.
n“Your Majesty, you’re awake.” Shi went there quickly.
nLong blinked and looked over. “Yes… You got up very early?”
nShi shook his head. “No, just a moment ago. The breakfast is ready. Your Majesty, does your arm still hurt? Do you want to eat here or in the hall?”
n
n
nLong looked at the sky outside. “Is the morning meeting finished?”
n“Yes, it’s finished. I told them Your Majesty didn’t feel well.”
nLong thought about it and leaned back. “Well, then I won’t go out. Let’s just eat here.”
n“Okay, I’ll have the servants bring the food here,” Shi said immediately.
nThen, Shi turned to leave and ordered the servants to bring the breakfast there.
nLong put on his coat. After Shi went in, he put a pillow behind his back.
n“It’s late autumn and winter is coming soon. Your Majesty, you just hurt your arm. Don’t get cold,” Shi said.
nLong nodded. “Yes, I know.”
nShi tucked the coat for Long.
nThe servants brought in their breakfast and put it on the small table.
nThen, Shi didn’t let them stay, but ask all of them to leave.
nLong looked at Shi with his eyes wide open. Shi almost burst into laughter.
n“Your Majesty, why are you looking at me like that?”
n“Qingzhou, didn’t you say you felt very sorry last night?” Long said seriously.
n“Yes?” Shi raised eyebrows. “So what?”
n“Since you felt sorry, of course you have to do something to compensate for it!” Long said more seriously.
nShi smiled. “So?”
n“So, feed me, Qingzhou,” Long concluded.
nAfter hearing that, Shi looked at Long smilingly. Long was cheeky, but he felt embarrassed at that moment. He coughed and was about to say something, but Shi said, “Okay.”
n“What?” Long was surprised. For a moment, he thought that there was something wrong with his ears.
nHowever, it turned out that his ears were all right, because Shi had turned around to take porridge carefully.
nAfraid of being scalded, Shi put a towel at the bottom of the bowl. He put the spoon in and stirred it.
nThat was shredded chicken porridge. The imperial chef was specially ordered to make it not too salty, but light.
nThe meat was lean meat of the chicken. It really took a lot of effort to get the ingredient.
nShi fed Long with the spoon slowly.
nLong looked at Shi and ate it obediently. He felt that… he was truly happy!
nHe finally understood what a blessing in disguise was!
nAlthough his arm was hurt, his empress became so gentle! That’s wonderful!
nHe used to like the domineering empress, but at present, he liked the gentle type more!
nLong was in a good mood and had two bowls of porridge in one go. He also ate two small steamed buns with vegetable stuffing.
nLater, Long said with concern, “Qingzhou, I’m full. You’d better eat it now, or it will be cold soon.”
n“Don’t worry. It’s in the cup. It won’t be cold in half an hour,” Shi said.
nStill feeling uneasy, Long said, “Just eat it.”
n“Okay, I’ll eat it.” Shi no longer insisted. He turned to sit at the small table and began to eat slowly.
nLong quietly watched his empress having porridge and didn’t feel bored at all.
nSince Shi practiced martial arts and was a great master, how could he not notice Long’s attention?
nBut he just thought that… if Long wanted to look at him, then let him be!
n
