Chapter 275 - Holy Church Navy

“Baili Xuanyuan!” yelled Lin Jie as he rushed towards the direction of the voice.

Baizhan Yusheng swirled his shields around hurriedly and stood in front of Lin Jie—it looked like an iron wall suddenly appeared in front of Lin Jie!

Fog Concealment!

Baizhan Yusheng was stunned. He did not expect that a Warrior who was only supposed to be known for speedy Forward Charge skills could just disappear right in front of his eyes. He finally understood then—there were no Bandits around at all. All along, they had just been battling with this one person!

“Dragon’s Roar!” Lin Jie’s path was blocked by Baizhan Yusheng, and he knew it was impossible to kill him within a short time—after all, this MT’s tanking ability was superb, and the heavy shield which he held in his hands were obviously some Over-Level item as it could reflect back all damage. It wouldn’t be wise to combat him face-off, which meant he would have to resort to other means.

Baizhan Yusheng was stupefied by the loud Dragon’s Roar. He was rather befuddled by the skill’s impact, and he took a few steps back falteringly.

Lin Jie took a big step and rushed into the ship cabin. He discovered Baili Xuanyuan standing at a corner in the cabin. Baili Xuanyuan placed both of his hands behind his back, standing coolly in a leisurely manner and facing away from Lin Jie.

“It isn’t nice hiding at City of Elves, eh?” Broken Blade left a fiery, hideous scar on the ship cabin’s floor, and one could sense Lin Jie’s ridiculing tone as he spoke.

“Baili Xuanyuan, your slave trade ends now!”

Army Obliteration!

Lin Jie got into Enraged mode. Surprisingly, Baili Xuanyuan did not bother to dodge at all, and the first attack of Army Obliteration stabbed into his back.

-1,283!

“How come…” Lin Jie’s pupils constricted. Just with this single strike, the figure in front of him disappeared into white light!

Ding~

—System notification: You have maliciously killed a commoner Baili Qi, your evil score 1.

That person was not Baili Xuanyuan!

Lin Jie was shocked. ‘What, this fellow won’t even come personally for such an important transaction?’ After all, the seas should be the safest place for Baili Xuanyuan to be at now if Lin Jie had not appeared!

Unless… he had already predicted someone would come and cause a ruckus?

‘No, that’s impossible! Even if he had predicted that Baili Changcheng would tell the secret of him trading slaves to me, he wouldn’t have guessed that I can kill the pirates successfully when I am here, and hence get the accurate timing and venue where they would be conducting their transaction.’

The answer was simple then—Baili Xuanyuan must have been scared to meet the NPCs! After all, the Simon Pirates were notorious for killing players without batting an eyelid. Baili Xuanyuan was most probably scared that after the transaction, Simon would blast up his ship, then capture him and hand him over to City of Light to get the rewards. One of Simon’s underlings could then get his name cleared for doing such a ‘heroic’ deed. With this, Simon could expand his plundering to on land.

After Lin Jie finally made sense of what was going on, his heart sank. Since Baili Xuanyuan was not present, there would be no evidence to convict him! Even if he told the authorities what happened, only Baizhan Yusheng would be implicated and sent to jail.

And this fellow… Even though Baizhan Yusheng was his enemy, Lin Jie still felt he wasn’t deserving of such an end, especially considering his chunnibyou character.

Boom—

At this moment, the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship seemed to come under heavy attacks, and it almost tilted over to one side—it was now at 45 degrees to the sea’s surface! Immediately after, there was a series of shots heard—the Simon Pirates had started firing at them!

Outside of the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship.

There was someone casting a powerful Arcane spell to help the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship counter the fearsome shooting by Simon. The spell held onto the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship and steadied the ship. Meanwhile, the ship’s sturdy outer plating blocked all sorts of bullets shot at it—after all, the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship was made up of very precious materials, so blocking bullets definitely wasn’t a problem.

Not only that, after the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship was being set upright again, its huge wings, which were on either side of the ship, started flapping like a bird as if trying to help the ship regain balance.

“Moonfire spell!”

The Great Arcane Druid finally found her chance to launch an attack at the Simon Pirates. While they focused mainly on shooting bullets at the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship, she quickly cast and threw the Moonfire spell upon the pirate ship.

The Moonfire spell was the most basic spell of all Arcane Druids. It would utilize the New Moon’s Power and make all targets within an area of 20 square meters be infected by moonfire. The casting time for this spell was almost as short as zero seconds, but its damage was not very high.

However, when this spell was cast by Great Druids, its effects would be multiplied. Right after the Great Druid finished chanting the spell, specks of luminous moonfire descended upon the slaves, burning apart the ropes which bounded them.

“Sisters, it’s time for freedom!” The Great Druid clenched her hands tightly into fists and stared coldly at the pirate ship. She raised up both hands and shouted, “Star—”

Bang—

Before the Great Druid could finish her words, her body flew out and dropped into the sea.

-2,736!

After Simon shot the Great Druid down into the sea, he commanded in a low voice, “Take the slaves, kill the rest, and steer this Flying-Wing Cargo Ship away!”

“Captain, the slaves had escaped!”

“Kill them, kill them! This… this…”

All pirates were shocked as they saw the untied slaves jumped fervently into the sea and then disappeared without any trace! There were at most just 10 plus Druids within these Night Elves, how could all of them disappear after jumping into the sea?

Lin Jie did not expect this too!

Realization dawned after the Naga Gion popped its head out from the sea, and added the Ring of Sea buff on him. His efforts at the Naga Island’s mission were not wasted—all those Nagas had come to help him!

Lin Jie stood out from the crowd and shouted, “All slaves, jump into the sea!”

To be honest, this was a redundant reminder. All of the Night Elves had already dived into the water out of desperation—in any case, it would fare better than staying onboard the ship and becoming slaves. Although they were all rather shocked to see the Nagas popping their heads out from the sea and weren’t exactly sure if they were friends or foes, they had no more energy to think otherwise.

“My lord, jump down!”

Lin Jie heard Gion’s voice. He turned back and saw Baizhan Yusheng raising his shield, preventing all the pirates from snatching the ship. However, all of these pirates were Enhanced Elites, and their Stats were very powerful. Coupled with the fact that their Sub Legendary Leader Simon was present at the scene, how could Baizhan Yusheng win against them?

‘Just take it as repaying your kindness last time!’ Lin Jie gritted his teeth and activated Hunter’s Forward Charge! Broken Blade hit Baizhan Yusheng’s back, and he was stunned.

Baizhan Yusheng scoffed, “Lone Wolf, I had always respected you for being a heroic character. Yet now, it seems like you are just another despicable fellow!”

“You will see for yourself in time whether I am despicable or not. Just go down NOW!” Lin Jie laughed and said as he did a hard kick on Baizhan Yusheng’s back. The stunned Baizhan Yusheng did not have any ability to resist Lin Jie, however considering his weight, Lin Jie still had to spend many efforts at kicking him down into the sea. He then instructed, “Gion, bring him away! I have the Naga’s Trident with me, I will be fine!”

Gion received Baizhan Yusheng obediently as he fell into the sea, nodded resolutely, and left.

“Wth, Boss!” Baizhan Yusheng was out of the Stun spell, but he was shocked to see a Boss carrying him. However, Gion did not understand his human language. With a sharp cry, it Petrified Baizhan Yusheng and carried him away.

Lin Jie stood alone on the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship’s deck. Ultimately, he was… he was reluctant to lose the opportunity to take over this ship! After all, the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship was a supreme class ship. It was extremely expensive and also precious, and it could definitely fetch him loads of riches if he managed to sell it!

At this moment, the bloody massacre began!

One Night Elf got rid of the ropes that tied her up. While chaos ensued, she tried to jump into the sea to get away from the scene. Yet this poor Night Elf was being shot into a sieve in mid-air—there were simply too many bloody holes on her body after one round of shooting ended!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”

All the pirates who never cared much for people’s lives went crazy. Almost nine out of every 10 Night Elves who jumped into the sea would die, and there was absolutely no way to save them! In fact, 20 or more Enhanced Elite pirates had now jumped onto the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship, and they stepped towards Lin Jie slowly, with sadistic smiles plastered on their faces.

There were haloes beneath every step the pirates took.

Simon Victor’s Bravery: Increase in 20% Attack Speed, 20% Bullets Refill, Bullets’ Attack Range increased by 15 more meters

‘WTF!’ Lin Jie was shocked. Such haloes would help turn the pirates’ weapons into laser gun-equivalent tools!

‘Run!’

Lin Jie made a decision immediately: he activated the Undefeated Anger skill and made moves to jump into the sea! He wouldn’t be able to keep this ship now, no matter how much he wanted it!

When ships got snatched over by pirates, the ships’ owners had one month of protection period over their stolen ships. Within that time, they could make announcements within the Bandits Association, Mages Sanctuary, to distribute missions and recruit able people to help get back their ships.

However, after one month, the ship would be regarded as owner-less, and everyone would be free to take it as theirs if they had the capabilities to do so.

Right now, what Lin Jie need to do was not to care about the money he could earn by taking control of the ship, but how to save his own neck instead!

Suddenly, a few black dots appeared in the sky and seemed to be aimed at the Crying Bay.

Kaboom—

The originally calm sea was like a beast awoken from its deep slumber. It roared and thrashed about, and its huge waves crashed into both the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship and pirates ship, tumbling and tossing them about! Lin Jie lost his balance—he resorted to lying flat down on his tummy on the ship’s deck instead. The bullets from the Enhanced Elite pirates shot wildly in the air, but none hit him.

Kaboom—

Wave after wave of canons rained down upon the two ships—yes, those black dots were canons that could only be installed on bigger ships!

Lin Jie gripped tightly onto the ship deck’s wooden planks while his mind ran wild. ‘Who can be the owner of these canons?’

Gusts of fierce winds rose up!

The surroundings of the Crying Bay were normally very peaceful and quiet unless the Simon Pirates ordered the Nagas to conjure up turbulent weathers like thunderstorms. Yet now, these winds were obviously not within the pirates’ control. Huge waves were seen everywhere, causing a tsunami!

“It’s there, they are the Simon Pirates!”

A familiar voice was heard, and Lin Jie was stunned. Tens of big ships appeared in the distant, and one of the ships had a pirates’ flag on it—this was Wu Dongdong’s ship!

His heart flopped—he guessed Wu Dongdong was not alone, because such thunderstorms could not be controlled by the players during this stage of the game. This only meant that there were NPCs around!

All of those ships glimmered and had Holy Light surrounding them. Only Knights and Priests from the Holy Church, who cared excessively for their reputations, would continue putting on such airs when they were out at sea.

All of those bright Holy Light was making the ships obvious targets for pirates, sharks, and sea-monsters to attack. However, as there were many such ships present, they looked very imposing.

As the storm cleared the thick fog on the sea, all those gigantic ships were eventually revealed. Two Grand Wind Mages were controlling the Wind Elements to help the ships advanced on, while two Priests wearing milky-white robes were chanting loudly whilst standing at the top of the sails, enshrouding the ships in a multitude of light and Blessings.

“It’s the Holy Church Navy! Retreat!”

“Retreat!”

The pirate ship was like a mouse that caught sight of a cat approaching. In fact, to lighten their ship’s load, they killed several slaves and threw them into the sea, setting up sails hastily and leaving!

However, they had forgotten—there were still 20 plus of their buddies left behind on the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship!

The 20 Enhanced Elites stood in front of Lin Jie.

“They abandoned us?!”

“What should we do now? How? Do we surrender?”

“Pui! Surrender to the Holy Church? You mean you want to be thrown into the Holy waters to be baptized, and then become their Believers and chant the Bible all day long?”

One of the pirates took out his saber and aimed it at Lin Jie, crying loudly, “Kill this human being from the alternate realms! He must be the one who contacted the Holy Church Navy. If not for him, we would have been enjoying our time with the women on our island now! I say, KILL HIM!”

All of the Enhanced Elites formed a circle and moved towards Lin Jie—he had no chance of winning against all of them!

Yet at this moment—

“Outraged Roar!” Lin Jie’s face flushed red, and with a huge roar, he managed to control all 20 pirates who just nicely stepped into the skill’s area of effect. His calculations were so precise, that if he just missed any of them by one millimeter, he wouldn’t be able to put them under his control!

“Pirates, listen to me! I am a Viscount from the City of Light. Swear your loyalties to me now, and I will save you, and even allow you to keep your abilities!”
