Chapter 277 - Drugged!

The Flying-Wing Cargo Ship was the best among all ships. Even if one just pluck off all the feathers from the Pegasus’ wings, which was by both sides of the ship, the features would still be nothing less worthy of the price of a Gold set of equipment. Who knew how Baili Xuanyuan had managed to get hold of this ship!

It was such a pity that Baili Xuanyuan did not appear for this transaction. Or else, Lin Jie would be able to hand him over to this overly-righteous Knight Leader, and Baili Xuanyuan would definitely be cursed with the Holy Light Reincarnation Curse.

Since he was unable to get hold of Baili Xuanyuan, he could only fight to get some benefits for himself. Thus, he would never let go of this golden opportunity to get this ship!

Cade laughed, and said coolly, “Lord Viscount, please do not be too greedy. If not, I can just kill you on the seas. No one can condemn me for doing so.”

His tone sounded as if the onlookers Wu Dongdong and other people were not around. This reaction fully exhibited the arrogance and overbearing characteristics of a Holy Church Knight Leader!

Lin Jie laughed coldly. “I am a human being from the alternate realms, and I have the privilege of reviving limitless times. Do you think what you did to me will be kept in the dark?”

“Haha…” The Knight Leader actually ignored Lin Jie and laughed instead. However, with a flick of his fingers, a shimmering Holy Light Gem rose up into the mid-air. Beams of light shone down like rays of sunlight, warming up everyone who was present at the scene, and this gem transformed into a cross in the air.

Holy Light Grace: You can make a Holy Light Gem which can store souls or fragments of souls temporarily within it.

In layman terms, the Holy Light Grace is a convenient take-along grave for anyone! When players died, their bodies would remain at the spot while their souls would be resurrected at the cemetery. Unless one found his or her body again, he or she would not be fully resurrected. However, with the Holy Light Grace skill, one could just revive from the gem, wriggle inside one’s body and continue battling again. If used appropriately on oneself, this was a great weapon for strategic attack and considered no less powerful than Mages’ Restricted Curse.

However, if it was used by one’s enemy, hehe…

As for Lin Jie, this skill was equivalent to a summons for death! As long as Cade applied this skill on him, he would be killed and revived countless times, depending on when Cade wanted him to live or die… In essence, he would be submitted to Cade’s mercy!

“Hah, my dear respected Knight Leader, I was just joking with you. Please don’t be so serious!” Lin Jie immediately let out a laugh and signaled defeat to Cade.

“Do steer your ship over, I really miss my homeland…”

Even Wu Dongdong was unable to register such a drastic change of events.

‘Umm big brother, shouldn’t you at least have more pride, and shout some sayings like ‘Life is full of ups and downs, don’t look down on those in difficult situations, I may just get even next time round!’ before you admit defeat?’

At least that would seem somewhat more imposing…

However, the fact that Lin Jie submit to Cade’s threats so easily was a jaw-dropping scene for Wu Dongdong and his companions. All were rendered speechless for a long while.

The Holy Church ships steered closer. Lin Jie and the 20 pirates who only wore their underwear were marched onto one of the ships. When Lin Jie stepped onto the ship, all the Nagas whined softly, as if finding it hard to part with him.

Lin Jie found this scene extremely touching. He raised the Naga’s Trident up in mid-air and threw it into the sea, shouting, “My Naga brothers, this trident is a totem of your beliefs, and I should return it to you. Goodbye!”

Cade let out a cold laugh. “You actually pride yourself for being brothers with Nagas? Seems like you will appear within my trial courts sooner or later. However, I have no reason to arrest you now. Soldiers, leave this place now! Drag the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship along behind us, and set the sails for our voyage home!”

Kaboom—

The whole fleet of ships set their sails, and it was as if a long road was being paved out on the sea’s surface. The Nagas floated around on the sea and sent Lin Jie off with longing gazes. No matter what, he was the human being who had saved all the Nagas trapped at the Crying Bay.

Gion took out the Naga’s Trident only after all the ships disappeared in his vision. Widening his eyes in surprise, he discovered a few words engraved upon the Naga’s Trident handle in the Nagas’ language.

On the Holy Church ships.

Lin Jie, Wu Dongdong, the 20 Enhanced Elite pirates, coupled with the 32 player sailors who followed Wu Dongdong and 14 Paladins in total, traveled on one ship together. Lin Jie stood alone at the ship’s bow. He looked out at the sea, enjoying the sea breeze and seemed very at ease.

Wu Dongdong sat down carefully beside Lin Jie and said weakly, “Big brother, I…”

“I have no interest in listening to you, shut up,” said Lin Jie in a cold tone as he continued gazing out at the sea. Wu Dongdong felt even more guilty. Dropping his head, he sat far away to the other side of the ship’s deck.

After all, Lin Jie trusted him and even gave him a whole pirates ship. Wu Dongdong had wanted to achieve something great and leading the 32 players, they landed on a deserted island. He planned to start a great trading business, and then… Then he got caught by the Holy Church Navy.

Wu Dongdong simply could not understand how he was discovered, as that deserted island was a few hundred miles out of the usual patrol region by the Navy. Yet no matter what, the Holy Church Knight Leader Cade was on the ship, which discovered them. Out of desperation to gain Cade’s trust, Wu Dongdong could only come up with the lie that they were a group of navigators being caught by the pirates, who forced them to partake in illegal trading, and that they had just escaped from the pirates’ clutches.

Yet the Knight Leader continued pursuing this matter and ordered Wu Dongdong to lead them to the pirates. Helpless, Wu Dongdong could only bring them to the Crying Bay, hoping that the Holy Church Navy would meet with other mishaps along the way. Yet, never would he expect to bump into the slaves’ trade that was going on.

And in the end… he successfully led the Holy Church Navy to capture his dear big brother, Lin Jie.

“If not for me, you wouldn’t have lost the Flying-Wing Cargo Ship. I am so sorry…” uttered Wu Dongdong repeatedly in a low voice. He was feeling extremely guilty.

However, Lin Jie continued putting on a cold expression and refused to speak to him. It was as if he was so angered that he couldn’t be bothered to scold him.

The two kept their uncomfortable silence throughout the day. The Navy ships advanced on at a fast speed. What cargo ships would normally require three or four days’ worth of navigation was completed with just a single morning and afternoon. In fact, they were halfway back on the journey to the original ship docks.

It was soon night, and the moon rose up.

“Wu Dongdong, how did you guys get caught?” Lin Jie finally initiated the conversation.

Wu Dongdong had already been thinking back about the whole incident, and he just rambled off about what happened when Lin Jie asked him. After much pondering, Lin Jie reached a conclusion: NPCs wouldn’t just expand their patrolling territories for no reason, unless… somebody informed against them!

The person who informed on them would definitely not be targeting him—instead, that person was targeting Baili Xuanyuan. Lin Jie’s heart skipped a beat then. ‘Surely that informer isn’t that fellow?’

After Wu Dongdong finished his story, he began apologizing dryly again, “I’m so sorry…”

“I don’t blame you. I can’t talk to you in the day because the Paladins were patrolling too frequently around us. Let’s go, wake everyone up,” replied Lin Jie in his usual good-natured tone.

As players could not go offline while navigating the seas, they had developed the habits of sleeping when night-time arrived in the game. When the players were awoken by the mass prompt message sent by Wu Dongdong, they questioned him grudgingly for waking them up.

“That Flying-Wing Cargo Ship is worth millions, and the pirate ship is very valuable too. All the canons on both ships are something that can’t be bought even if you have money! Hence, we cannot let those two ships fall into the hands of the NPCs!” concluded Lin Jie in a promising tone.

“Later, you guy follow my instructions. We will drug those Paladins, then escape with our ships!”

Wu Dongdong was shocked—he never would imagine Lin Jie was so daring to suggest this, just right when they were being closely inspected by the Holy Church’s Knight Leader. He reminded Lin Jie, “Big brother, let’s leave the issue of whether we can succeed out of the question. Even if we succeed, we won’t be able to fully exhibit the prowess of the ships! Coupled with the fact that we don’t have the navigation maps, we will be caught no matter where we go.”

“Yeah, it’s too hard to steal two ships at a go.”

“Big brother, I suggest we just steal one ship—it’s best if we steal none at all. We can return safely to the ship docks then. With our capabilities now, it won’t be hard to be engaged for other navigation missions.”

“What a good-for-nothing you are! What’s the point of navigating on NPCs’ ships? Big brother, we will do whatever you tell us to do!”

The sailors started quarreling softly, but generally, most of them made the decision to follow Lin Jie.

Lin Jie thought about this situation. He decided he should make them feel more reassured, and with a wave of his right hand, he summoned the 20 pirate NPCs to stand orderly in front of the group and placed all of their 20 sets of Pirate Sets on the ground before them.

When they had finished dressing up, the 20 obscene-looking big guys disappeared. What stood in front of the group were 20 shrewd pirates, all of whom were Level 40 Enhanced Elites—and all of them looked really imposing!

“Omg, you mean they weren’t part of a ship’s crew?”

“They are pirates, Simon Pirates!”

“Goodness gracious me, big brother, you are such a pro!”

With the 20 pirates in charge of steering the ships, the matter of escaping was resolved. However, now the group had to consider how they should steal the ships. All the Paladins and Priests on those two ships were around Level 50 on the average, but one should not forget that Knight Leader Cade was a powerful Level 60 Sub Legendary Overlord. Some more, it seemed like he would reach Level 90 soon.

Wu Dongdong looked in shock and awe at Lin Jie. He wondered to himself, ‘Just how many secrets does this person have?’

The next moment, he was flabbergasted as he witnessed what happened.

Lin Jie threw a bullet down into the sea, and with a soft splash, light blue heads popped out one by one from underwater—all of them were Nagas!

“My Lord, these are the stuff you need!” The Naga Gion threw a chest up onto the ship—it was the chest containing the Pink Velvet Flower Powder! Lin Jie distributed the Pink Velvet Flower Powder to everyone then. All these powder would be enough to let the Paladins and Priests fall into a deep sleep for a while.

Shoosh——

A pale pink mist seemed to enshroud the Holy Church Navy ships. The patrolling Paladins rubbed their eyes, and with a sniff of their noses, they inhaled in large amounts of the powder. They felt something sweet in their mouths, and meanwhile, sleep crept up to them. One by one, all of them fell down to a deep slumber.

At this moment, Lin Jie was walking softly on the ship, which Cade was on.

As Cade was too powerful, Lin Jie was sure he wouldn’t be able to hide the stolen ships’ traces just by activating the Fog Concealment skill, along with the fog the Nagas would help to create. As such, he could only go and drug Cade personally.

Paladins were known for keeping routined sleeping schedules, and Cade was not exclusive of this. Right now, he was sleeping very soundly. However, Lin Jie was certain that should he sense anything amiss, he would get up immediately!

Cade stayed in the most luxurious room within the ship’s cabin. Lin Jie took out 50 sets of the Pink Velvet Flower Powder all at once—this amount would be sufficient to drug at least 10 sharks!

This was only the amount needed to get him started falling in a deep sleep. As the powder floated into the room, it was obvious that Cade was beginning to sleep even more soundly—Lin Jie could actually hear his snores!

‘Great!’ mused Lin Jie as he took out another 100 sets of the powder. One must be extremely vicious to really take down such characters! If he was stingy with the use of the powder now, he could only regret later if Cade woke up before their expected timings.

200 sets, 300 sets… Lin Jie almost used half of the chest’s worth of powder on Cade. Until Cade finally rolled over from his bed and dropped down to the ground without waking up, Lin Jie cleared his worries and crept into the room.

There was a sword and a shield lying on the ground—this was Cade’s signature set: Cade’s Verdict Sword and Shield Set, a Sub Legendary set! Much as Lin Jie drooled over this set of equipment, he had to dismiss all thoughts of nabbing it. This set had a telepathic connection to Cade, and so long as anyone touched it, Cade would be alerted immediately.

Lin Jie reached his hands into the backpack, which Cade tied around his waist, and with a gentle tug, he got what he wanted!
