Chapter 282 - Inksnow

“Fu Sheng here.” Lin Jie smiled.
This woman was the legend MT of Triumphant Midnight, placed first on City of Light’s beauty rankings, Inksnow. Lin Jie had dealt with her in his past life, but only briefly. Inksnow was said to be the paradigm of goddesses with her gorgeous face and perfect body, together with the highest quality of equipment available and masterful handling of the character. Dating her in the game would be far more superior than getting a piece of divine equipment.
Unfortunately, this woman that was as highly desired as she was being a target of jealousy was queer. In her 7 years in Triumphant Midnight, Dumb Fox had been chasing her for equally as long. At last, she had found her true love with Dumb Fox’s sister, creating the most tragic love story of the era.
The credibility of that story had yet to be confirmed, but Inksnow overlooked men instinctively. Usually, girls that were in that awkward situation would be too embarrassed to be out, but Inksnow merely pursed her lips and got over it, causing people to be in shock and fear of her powerful mental state.
Inksnow nodded with a smirk and said, “Alright, I will remember you. Since you saved me, I will have to repay you, but I don’t really have any powerful skill books or equipment with me. Let’s see how about a kiss?”
“Huh?” Lin Jie stared.
“Huh?” The bystanders were startled, as well. That goddess was offering a kiss? This world was too insane! They would have been more than willing to be a human sponge and die for her if only they knew.
“Why? I’m also considered to be a beauty, right? There are lots of people who want to but can’t get me to kiss them.” Inksnow was obviously very confident about her looks and figure as her luscious lips drew nearer to Lin Jie’s face.
“Just pay for it.” Lin Jie said with his hand out while taking a step back, “I presume you to be rather wealthy with your Fire Lizard suit. Although you had already kept it the bag, once you fall to your death, there is still a chance of it dropping out, isn’t it? You managed to avoid losses while leveling up because I saved your life, getting 50 gold coins from you isn’t asking for too much, right?”
Lin Jie was asking for lesser than expected! Inksnow was Triumphant Midnight’s MT, all the best resources from the guild were with her, including the Fire Lizard suit, which went by another name, ‘Fire Dragon’! Every suit was gold equipment, and the entire outfit had lasting affixation of Fire Dragon Armor, which increased Defense by 10% while boosting Mana Defence with every hit taken till it reached the same level as the physical defense. It was indeed a top-class suit! Losing a suit of this caliber would be a great loss!
Don’t even mention the Flame-Blazing Shield held in Inksnow’s hand, it was obviously shards of Dark Gold class!
“Kekeke, you’re such an interesting little runt.” Inksnow hugged her arms, but this pushed up her huge bosom, causing it to almost bounce out!
Her exposed snowy white skin caused breathlessness amongst the crowd.
As she bent, her voluptuous figure was further revealed. She seductively questioned, “Little runt, you really have no need? Sister can let you have a touch…”
Lin Jie’s mouth twitched. “100 gold coins!”
“You…” Inksnow wore her cloak bitterly, her shapely figure disappearing, causing many bemoan from the players while Lin Jie let out a breath.
WTF, kiss? Touch? This was Atlas Peak! There were at least a thousand people in the crowd? If Lin Jie really had kissed, it would instantaneously make the top post of the forum and attracted the wrath of Inksnow’s countless fans. Standing in front of Hades was easy, but smaller devils were difficult to deal with. Those loser fans of the goddess were even more shameless devils—once they were stuck to you, the harassment would last a long time.
And once news reached Qiu Yuan or Bu Yi…
Inksnow may be pretty, but Lin Jie was not a hormonal raging pervert; thus, it was still easy to identify his priorities.
“Here! Your 100 gold coins!” Inksnow set down the mountain of gold coins, tied her cape, and was ready to leave.
Lin Jie kept the coins and walked to the foot of Atlas Peak. Gazing at the peak, he took in a deep breath and closed his eyes, lingering in his past experiences. His action attracted Inksnow’s attention as she walked into the crowd and looked with interest.
“Go!”
Lin Jie abruptly opened his eyes and kept all his equipment into his bag. However, he was not as valiant as Inksnow and was only clad in a top and shorts to protect his modesty. The Warrior’s armor was too bulky, which would affect bouldering as opposed to the Leather Armor of Bandits and Hunters, which were featherlight and could increase leaps and Movement Speed, providing great aid.
Forward Charge! Wild Charge!
He charged up Atlas Peak fiercely and did not stop till he reached 30 meters. He grabbed onto the rocks on the edge and climbed upward like a centipede on a tree, accurately grasping climbing points, kick-starting with both legs. His body raised 2 meters instantaneously with his leaps, ascending Atlas Peak.
“Sh*t! Is that human?”
“To jump while climbing, how much Strength does he possess?”
“Having Strength doesn’t matter! It is mainly the body control, Oh My God, If I were to jump, I would lose my balance and fall immediately…”
Inksnow was taken aback with surprise when she saw Lin Jie’s moves as they were simply too dangerous! One wrong step, and he would fall to his death! However, he was coping with such ease as though he was stepping on flat land, as relaxed as a toad skipping on water. In less than 10 minutes, he had already covered 1
/3 of the journey, which would have taken a normal human two to three hours or even longer to achieve. After all, bouldering was unlike walking, every step would require meticulous observation. Once a wrong step was taken, he would have to backtrack and start from square one.
In his past life, climbing Atlas Peak had been a piece of cake to Lin Jie, but he been in possession of the rare mount Frost Giant Ape. Hence, the bouldering difficulty had been 1
/10 of now—the two situations were simply incomparable.
Lin Jie took in a deep breath as the mid-way point was within sight, the surrounding gales grew violent.
Hoo-
Hoo-
Lin Jie had a death grip on the rock walk as this stage was not hard if he identified the right direction of the climb and wait for the wind to be in the same course to speed up his climb. The only thing he had to do now was to wait for the next wind change, of course.
Eyeing the wind change, Lin Jie leaped up like a lizard for dozens of steps, then kneeled, while waiting for the next change. His action flow was so smooth and fluent, aweing the crowd with every movement.
As the difficulty increased, the hardest point arrived! This was the point where Atlas Peak intersected with the clouds. The rock walls might appear to have many climbing points, but almost all were impossible to be used and would cause slips to death due to the dampness of the rocks. There was no regularity to the wind courses as well—once one got carried away, there would be no way to avoid death.
Due to the fog, the vision was heavily obstructed, as well! Compared to ordinary players, Lin Jie had tenacious stamina. If his Strength dropped, he could even open the demolition of his scales to boost his Strength back; hence, stamina was not a problem.
Lin Jie stopped half-way in the air and observed for a whole hour before he settled on his path and patiently waited for the change of wind course.
Wind in the flow layer was obnoxious with multiple directions of winds combining at once. A large amount of time was required to wait for the appearance of the right course of the wind. This was all a test of perseverance and luck.
“The wind is in the right course! Go!”
Lin Jie pushed against the rock wall and leaped out and into the clouds! The magnitude of the gale abruptly increased multiple folds, and just like a lead fan, it landed a hit on Lin Jie. At this moment, with the upward and inwards blowing wind, this hit became Lin Jie’s boost, allowing him to rise while sticking close to the Atlas Peak! Lin Jie made use of this method, jumped repeatedly, and rose! Nearing the clouds exit, Lin Jie stopped abruptly as an ominous gale swirled and crushed a large piece of rock to bits.
This was the demonic wind, which appeared randomly, but once it hit, it would cause instant death!
As the demonic wind’s vacuum period approached, Lin Jie jumped 10 consecutive steps and set foot on the peak!
At the foot of Atlas Peak, the audience had bordered on insurrection. The crowd was shell-shocked!
‘Did the newbie just successfully to the peak on his first attempt? This was incredible!’
Inksnow threw a meaningful glance at the sky, and a smile curled up her lips. “This little runt really has some moves.”
A cold sneer sounded among the crowd but disappeared in a flash.
Atlas Peak!
Lin Jie stood at the peak. A distance away, the sun was about to set, forming a beautiful portrait of veiling clouds and mountain peaks. Surveying the world, Lin Jie instantly felt exuberant as he experienced how it was to be on the top with everyone else being minute.
—”Congratulations on completing the accomplishment of the era Climbing Atlas Peak. You have received 120,000 EXP bar,1,000 Guild of Light Reputation, and Bull Potion.”
Bull Potion: Increases Strength by 50 points, a player can only use it once.
“Hahahahaha!” Lin Jie let out an unrestrained guffaw as the Bull Potion allowed a full power point Warrior to instantly level up 10 times! This was very well the effect of a god-level potion! Furthermore, Lin Jie even made an accomplishment, this was the highest level for accomplishments. In the past, only large-scale wars and historical missions had been able to reach this level. Accomplishments of The New Age were already rare and held great influence on players, amongst them was because of this elder—
“Young man, you’re the first human from the alternate realms to set foot on Atlas Peak.”
With his flowy white hair, grey cape, this man that was surveying mankind was one of the protectors of The New Age—the Demigod Alfrede! He was the only Demigod NPC in The New Age that was able to interact with the places, his powers were unimaginable and incomparable! To protect the lands, he also possessed the ability of infinite resurrection.
In fact, Demigod Alfrede looked youthful, and his age could not be distinguished.
“Great protector of the land, I came to seek advice for a matter.” Lin Jie spoke with reverence.
Alfrede’s voice was filled with the vicissitudes of the years, as though he had already looked past the appetence of life, when he replied, “Young man, do you know my name?
“Yes I do, you are Alfrede, who has been countlessly praised in historical records with statues of you built around the globe, the legendary Demigod! My ears were filled with poetries of you since the day I was born,” Lin Jie replied solemnly.
Yes, he was bootlicking!
Demigods, who were the protectors of the land, were extremely low profile, but no one had heard of his name. Being unheard of when one had dedicated their whole life to protecting the land was a painful thing to endure.
Why was it that they remained anonymous? This was because they had to, out of a certain need, they must stay under the radar and only serve in the dark.
Hence, if players that were not familiar with the game answered him with “No, I do not know’, they would receive a series of missions from the Demigod. It would lead them to 10 ancient relics where they would collect a variety of historical classics as well as the praises for him. This would carry on till one had climbed Atlas Peak dozens of times. Then, the Demigod would beam brightly at them and say, “My name is Alfrede, the only Demigod of the land!”
However, one would not receive any reward as…”Knowing my existence is the best gift you will ever receive.”
From this, it could be said that this Demigod was extremely narcissistic!
“Hahahahaha! Well done, well done! It seems that the land is still spreading my poems. Young man, since you have made an accomplishment, I’ll allow you to exchange for something I have.” The Demigod waved and chuckled. “Choose!”
