Chapter 333 - The Appearance of Eighteen Massacres

There were many different races in the land of The New Age, which included Barbarians, Orcs, Giant Demons, Undead, and Elves. Countless of those creatures lived on the land for generations. Each race had its own specialties, which allowed them to progress easily in their paths.

For example, the forest and nature-loving Night Elves would be proficient in becoming Druids, while the wise Humans would be more likely to be able to understand the secrets behind magic and tools. As for the physically strong Barbarians, they would able to realize their true battle potential and strength. This was all because of their lineage, the power hidden in their bloodline!

As a result, many people sought after power and desired to obtain the innate abilities of these races. The God of War had been one of them. He had wanted to raise his own power by attaining the lineage of the Barbarians. Unfortunately for him, he had failed his goal and had been left with regrets.

Lin Jie’s mission now was to defeat the last Boss in the Ancient Wilderness Temple, the King of Barbarism, in order to fulfill the wish of the God of War.

What he did not realize was that the moment he had stepped into the Barbarian Throne, a passageway in another place had been opened!

A dark knight shrouded in the gloomy fog trod out from the teleportation circle of Rajakil Forest. He was in a black suit of armor with spikes and had the eyes of a bloodthirsty beast.

“Boss, do you need a road clearance service?”

“The number one team of the Black Eyes is humbly at your service.”

A few headhunters were surprised by the appearance of Eighteen Massacres. After a few moments of hesitation, they gathered their courage and approached him. The number one team, Black Eyes, which had been single-handedly annihilated by Lin Jie, was among them. After their defeat, they no longer lived up to their title as the “number one”. When they lost their Combined Formation, the Black Eyes no longer had their most important Magic Flame Armor, which was needed to kill the Boss. What could a bunch of poison-powder-using magicians with no actual skills even achieve now?

Eighteen Massacres waved his hand and said, “Yes! Black Eyes, was it? Follow me. However, there’s still not enough of you here…”

Regional announcement: I would like to hire all clearance teams in Rajakil Forest. Those who are interested, gather at the campsite immediately! This is an Epic Mission. The reward is 10 gold coins for each team!

“F*ck, 10 gold coins?”

“Which rich sucker is giving out this mission at the campsite? Let’s go and take a look.”

“Dear customer, I apologize. We are temporarily not in service now. I will compensate you for the breach of contract.”

In that instant, every single clearance team from all over the forest was rushing towards the campsite! Among them, the team Small Melon, which had accepted a clearance mission and was headed towards the heart of the forest, was also surprised.

“What a generous reward. Could it be that the boss has found a secret map in the rocky mountain and needs people to clear the roads?”

“That must be it. Let’s go and check it out.”

Eighteen Massacres stood silently. The Seven Style Spear had changed into the appearance of a broken blade. The dark blade was barely visible but gave off a powerful aura. The blood flowing in the palms of his hands made him all the more intimidating.

The teleportation lights flashed, and hundreds of teams with a total of over 600 people gathered.

“Very well. Since everybody has agreed to be recruited by me, you all have the right to enter the map!” said Eighteen Massacres as he added everybody into his party. Then, he flipped his right hand, and a blood token with the Night Walk of a Hundred Ghosts engraved on it flew up into the sky. With a thunderous roar, it exploded, and the huge impact tore the space apart. A Space Spiral was formed.

A wilderness plain could be seen through the spiral.

Eighteen Massacres raised his chin and commanded, “Your mission is very simple. Kill all the enemies you encounter. Whoever manages to massacre the King of Barbarism will receive 1,000 gold coins, while those who kill a person who had taken the mission will be rewarded with 500 gold coins! The teams that perform well will be further rewarded accordingly. This mission has a certain level of difficulty, so do your best, everybody. As a token of my sincerity, I will first be paying all of you the recruitment fee. Those who are looking to slack around, you may leave. If I catch any teams that aren’t working hard after receiving the reward, I will have a very good talk with them.”

10 gold coins equaled to over a 1,000 dollars! A normal clearance team was only paid 1 or 2 gold coins for their service. This man was so generous with the rewards that everybody no longer doubted his claim of giving “1,000 gold coins”.

“Enter the map. Remember to kill other people who are executing the mission!”

……

Ding~

—”You have entered Barbarian Throne. Your Knowledge has increased by 5 points.”

The dark wasteland had cracks on the ground and pits everywhere. It was actually a plain wilderness! There were no signs of any life on the vast, empty land. The elemental fluctuation was so dense that every step taken felt suffocating.

“Master, this plain wilderness was originally an area where Elements gathered. In fact, there even once lived a Legendary Elemental Overlord here. However, ever since the Magus Berserker offered flesh as a sacrifice and revived the King of Barbarism, all the elements with wisdom were gathered together to form the Barbarian Throne that is as big as a mountain. Those elements that have lost their wisdom floated around in the air. After a long time, the elemental fluctuations on this land became extremely dense and terrible. Master, although you are a Warrior, you should learn a few elemental attacks. However, don’t use them, or the elements will revert back to their primal instincts.”

Graham, in the Goblet of Soul, suddenly appeared to warn him. When he felt the presence of the Barbarian Throne, he shrank back into the goblet as if he was afraid.

Lin Jie took a deep breath. The elements in this place were really dense. It even felt as if he could just hold out his hand and grab a fireball or a frostbolt. The principle of Mages was to cast spells through chanting, incantations, hand signs, and resonating with the elements, all which helped to gather and transform the appearance of elements in their minds.

“If Mages were to use magic here, the effects will not just increase by two folds, right?” Lin Jie sighed. “What a shame, the elemental level here is not dense enough. If it were to become even thicker, Elemental Spirits would be able to be formed. Thunderbird, Burning Crow, Water Dragon… These are the real gems.”

Elemental Spirits were spiritual bodies that only formed when the elements were condensed to a certain level. Another level higher and an Elemental Overlord would appear.

Lin Jie slowly looked for the position of the Barbarian Throne on the map. Although the map was called Barbarian Throne, it was as vast as the City of Light and the territories around it. The mountain stood tall and looked like a sharpened bone.

‘Quickly find the King of Barbarism and kill him to complete the mission. The Ancient Wilderness Curse feels like a piercing sword, it’s unbearable.’

The King of Barbarism was at the top of the mountain.

The Magus Berserker had sacrificed the flesh of all those Barbarians just to create the King of Barbarism so that he could transfer his soul into its body.

Suddenly!

There was a flow of red elements moving in the air!

The dense fire element was ignited in an instant, forming a huge crow with a body of flames. It opened its mouth and shot out three fireballs consecutively!

Burning Crow

Level: 40

Health Points: 58,000

Magic Attack: 759-1,029

Defense: 120

Additional effect: Immune to Fire damage, Elemental Spirit (Casting speed increases by 200%, Channeling consumption decreases by 90%).

‘An Elemental Spirit! What is going on? How did an Elemental Spirit appear!?’ Lin Jie was in shock. There was no room for escape as the Burning Crow had a high flying speed. If he were to run, he would really die in this place. Its casting speed was almost instantaneous, and it had a near unlimited amount of mana, which meant that it could kill anybody that tried to escape.

Shield Cut!

-2,018!

When the Elemental Spirit received the high-damage attack, its weak point became obvious—physical damage! Lin Jie’s damage output was high to begin with. After strengthening his Broken Blade, his attack speed had significantly increased, and each hit of his was at a solid more than 1,000 damage.

In a flash, the Burning Crow shot out another three explosive fireballs towards Lin Jie, which burst upon contact with the Kiara Beast King Armor.

-685!

-615!

-669!

‘Such high damage!’

Lin Jie was in pain.

Army Obliteration!

The health points of the Burning Crow drastically decreased once again.

Outraged Roar!

Lin Jie let out a huge roar. The Burning Crow was immune to this effect. With a strike with its wings, a fire tornado was formed! Lin Jie called upon his Holy Light Winged Armor and activated Wild Charge. In an instant he avoided its attack, Lin Jie canceled his skills and activated Hunter’s Forward Charge. He closed the distance once again let out an intimidating aura as he moved his body.

Clomaros materialized in gold armor, with a golden sword in his hand. He raised his long blade high in the air—

Clomaros’ Kill!

-8,888! (Critical Hit)

The Burning Crow gave a loud cry and struggled to flap its wings. The flames slowly dissipated, and a small object that looked like a thumb-sized ruby was left behind. It was a Fire Crystal, an ultra-rare material!

The Fire Crystal could be broken for use. Once used, the next 3 fire-attribute attacks would have their magical effects increased by 100%.

It could also be used to make potions that could increase Flames Immunity and Fire-Type Spells Damage, which could last longer than using it directly.

Furthermore, it could strengthen a wand and give it additional fire damage.

If it was in the past, Lin Jie would have used it immediately to strengthen his sword. However, he now understood that Broken Blade required the Blade Aura. Using the Fire Crystal to enhance it would be an utter waste.

It would be best to give this Fire Crystal to Domestic Fat Cattle and strengthen his wand. However, Lin Jie took out the Ancient Wilderness Scroll instead and placed the Fire Crystal on it. The Element Reversal Witchcraft recorded in the Ancient Wilderness Scroll allowed the assimilation and transformation of surrounding elements. After absorbing the elements, a giant Elemental Spirit would be formed and could be controlled as a Familiar. In order to do so, it required a huge amount of items such as the Fire Crystal.

‘Why in the world would a Burning Crow appear? I did not use any elemental skill and even avoided using Ice Spirit Slash. I did not create any waves that would cause an Elemental Spirit to appear. Although Graham is suspicious, Barbarians do not have any ability to control elements. That means it could only happen because…’ Lin Jie had come up with many possibilities. In the end, the most plausible reason was the worst-case scenario—there were other people that had entered the Barbarian Throne!

The worst thing about the additional Ancient Wilderness Curse in this mission was to experience disruptions from other people!

There were no hints of the group of people who had entered within his sight. This must mean that they were on the other side of the mountain! Lin Jie’s eyes lit up. If that’s the case, wouldn’t that mean that this mountain formed the dividing line of this map? With that, wouldn’t that mean the King of Barbarism was located right on this mountain?
