nWhooosh!!
nLin Jie continued to descend rapidly as great pain traversed throughout his limbs, skull, and chest. The rocks along the cliff edge left scratches and markings on him on his way down.
nGales flurried past his ears and snuck through his orifices. The maximum he could do was to open his eyes and observe the ongoing situation—the damned Blood Eagle was still next to him. The eagle hoped desperately to fall to its death to activate Nirvana.
nIf Lin Jie had boosted all the sailors’ favorability towards Admiration, he would hear of the name ‘Ishilik’ from them. This beast had been in existence for over 1,000 years, and it leveled up by absorbing the ocean’s essence, eating caravans, and sucking their blood. It had only been defeated after Poseidon Shrine, and Holy Church took control of this sea region.
nIn other words, the beast had been at the brink of advancing for a long time, but it had never gotten the chance.
nAncient creatures’ advancement requirements were very stringent, just like the Taoist priests and monks during ancient China’s times. They had to encounter a ‘chance’. For the Blood Eagle, its only chance to advance was to activate its innate skill, Nirvana. However, it was an extremely risky move, as once activated, there would be no way to escape.
nIf it did not die, it would have to endure the punishment for failing!
nAlthough Lin Jie was unaware of the context, he knew about the punishment that Nirvana would bring about. Hence, he had to do his best to prevent the egg from falling to its death! Lin Jie was speechless at this ridiculous outcome. He had spent so much effort to scheme and push it down the cliff, but now he had to protect it at all costs.
n“Death Grip!”
nLin Jie extended his right hand and grabbed the stalagmite cliff rocks, however, the huge oncoming impact broke his grip! Both parties continued to fall, and it was difficult for Lin Jie to pause the momentum.
n‘By all means, I have to protect the Blood Eagle! Since no one is on this island, I can serve as a cushion for it!’ A crazy thought was born in Lin Jie’s mind, but he did not reveal anything on the outside. He wielded Broken Blade, and the surrounding atmospheric air began crumbling. The Wind Elements were howling, as though it was going to rip the air apart.
nClomaros’ Seven Kills, Chaotic Wind Kill!
nSlice—
nBroken Blade sliced and fine black threads appeared in mid-air. Chaotic Wind Kill compressed the air within into a lump. The two opposing wind directions served as an air cushion for the huge Nirvana Egg as the impact was dissipated.
nIt was effective!
nLin Jie was delighted. Once the falling impact was diminished, there would be a chance to prevent it from destruction. Lin Jie waved and released several Blade Auras with difficulty as he unleashed the Levitation skill. He managed to raise the egg even higher.
nThe Blade Auras roared past and accidentally chipped off a rock. It fell off the cliff and landed with a dull thud, and that sound resonated up. Lin Jie was stunned as this was a prelude to reaching the ground! Since he was ready to die, he unleashed all his techniques without any more qualms! He activated Sea King Scaly Armor and Death Rage to the maximum!
nFrom afar, there seemed to be two dark figures falling. At that moment, one of them produced an impressive amount of Blood Vigor that was intense and zealous.
n“Get up!”
nLin Jie punched out as it landed onto the base of the egg, slowing down its motion once again. Soon after, Lin Jie released another punch onto the egg’s side before the counterforce could push it down. That blasted the egg towards the cliff.
nAfter a loud boom, the egg crashed onto the cliff. The impact was so great that Lin Jie felt as though he could experience the mountain’s tremors despite levitating in mid-air. Dust and debris filled the skies.
nIt got stuck!
nThe huge egg was stuck amongst the stalagmite and stones! Lin Jie grinned as he lost support from his diminished strength and fell. He was prepared to die, and it was a plus that his death location was pretty good. He only had to revive quickly to retrieve his equipment.
n“Warrior, be careful!”
nAt that moment, the sea surface bubbled, and a large illusory hand appeared out of nowhere and supported Lin Jie steadily.
nThis was the power of Herya, the Mermaid Princess! She was able to use some of her powers as they were surrounded by the sea.
nLin Jie was ecstatic as the little mermaid proved to be so helpful at such a critical time. When he clambered up from the palm, Lin Jie activated the Rocket Launcher and Feather Drop, together with Spider Transformation, to climb up. He found the egg to be completely jammed within four stalagmites.
n“Hahaha!” Lin Jie chuckled out loud as the huge egg was trapped and could no longer escape.
nIt would only take less than half a minute to fall from the cliff! If Lin Jie hadn’t jammed the egg into the stalagmites, he wouldn’t be able to levitate the egg for 30 seconds.
nHalf a minute later, the superficial blood clots cracked open, and the beast’s beak was the first to get out. Soon later, it was sliced off cleanly by a sword.
nAfter failing to enter Nirvana, the beast was in an extremely weakened state and was unable to retaliate. Even its tough beak was sliced off like butter.
nDing~
n—”You have killed the Blood Eagle, Ishilik. You receive 5,000,000 EXP. Your Favorability at the City of Light Harbour has increased to Friendly.”
nLin Jie’s relatively new Level 60 experience bar, was once again greatly boosted.
nThe ancient creature did bring about great EXP! Lin Jie glanced at the corpse, although the Blood Eagle was of a high-level beast, it was a Special Wilderness Boss. That sort of Boss was similar to the Shadow Dragon that Triumphant Midnight had slain previously. They did not produce equipment, but instead many rare ingredients.
nHowever, it was not on the same level as the dragon, as the latter’s flesh, skull, eyeballs, scales, claws, and etc., were all rare ingredients in their own right. Only the Blood Eagle’s beak and blood were of value.
nBlood Eagle’s Beak (Sub-Legendary)
nItem Description: Smithing material can be used for forging. The sharpest part of the beak can break through rocks.
nItem Stats: When smithing weapons using the beak as the core, the weapon’s attack will increase by 200 points, Armor Ignore will be 100 points, and there will be a 15% chance of having an additional Link-Up effect. There is an additional effect of Spirit Suppression.
nSpirit Suppression: It activates the Blood Eagle’s Bloodline Coercion, and a target within 25 yards will faint for 2 seconds. If the target’s resistance is higher than 100 points, this effect will be nullified.
nIt was indeed a Sub-Legendary material. The additional Attack Points were equivalent to that of a Silver weapon. With the Link-Up special effect and the additional effect, it would be worth a bunch! Even Dark Gold equipment wouldn’t have so many additional skills. The value of the beak could be inferred.
nPutting the beak aside, next up was the finale! 80% of the Blood Eagle’s blood had transformed into the Blood Eagle’s eggshell, and the remaining was coated on the outside. Even though the eagle was dead, its blood still contained a tremendous amount of life.
n“Clomaros’ Seven Kills!” Lin Jie waved his right hand, and the Mystic Skill Book rose up.
nBlood was getting stripped away from the Blood Eagle’s corpse as it flowed into the Mystic Skill Book.
nAt that moment, the Sealed Dusty Book in his bag seemed to throb. Lin Jie had nothing on as the Mystic Skill Book was absorbing the blood, that’s why he realized the Sealed Dusty Book’s motion.
nThe attributes of this Divine Book were out of this world, and it was even capable of absorbing items like the Heritage Armor. It possessed many secrets, and even Lin Jie, who was well-equipped with the knowledge from his previous life, was unable to decipher them.
nThe Sealed Dusty Book grew silent again after some commotions.
nIt was just like a kid that kept quiet because it was too weak to fight for the lollipop it wanted.
n‘Could it even consume the God of War’s Mystic Skill Book?’ Lin Jie was surprised as despite not being a Divine Item, the Mystic Skill Book’s grade was still Legendary. This was still a skill being passed down by the God of War, thus inheriting the fame and admiration. However, was the Sealed Dusty Book coveting for the Clomaros’ Seven Kills’ Mystic Skill Book?
nLin Jie began to recall Qiu Yuan’s Book of the Undead Age, as well as Hardworking Pants’ Book of the Weapon Age. The advancement of those books was relatively simple—they just had to toss in a related item. For the Sealed Dusty Book, despite it being a little odd, Lin Jie only treated it as a Skill Refinement Item. Every Mage from the Winter Castle had one of those, and they would use it to refine unusable items. However, it did not seem like that was the case now.
nFurthermore, the Sealed Dusty Book had only activated after it had engulfed Eighteen Massacres’ Book of the Dark Age. It could also be concluded that this was a book that advanced by absorbing Books of the Age. Coupled with its urge and commotion when it came into contact with Clomaros’ Seven Kills, he was almost certain.
nDing~
n—”You Mystic Skill Book, Clomaros’ Seven Kills, has activated a new skill, Purgatory Slaughter!”
nPurgatory Slaughter: When your target has a health bar that is 10% or less, you have a certain chain of slaughtering them! If your slaughter fails, your attack will be considered as a Level 5 Pound, which will deal 170% damage and a 20% decrease in speed to your target. Cooldown: 10 minutes.
nLin Jie raised his brows as he realized that it was a slaughter skill!
nSlaughter Skill was a general term, and the attribute was that it would have additional effects when using it on targets that were imminent to death. An example would be the Hunters’ Lethal Arrow, which would deal 300% of damage with increased Critical Hit Chance on targets that had less than 20% of health points left. Another example would be the Weapon Specialists’ Slaughter. There was some chance of instakilling a target with less than 15% of health points left.
nCompared to the Weapon Specialists’ Slaughter, Purgatory Slaughter had a stricter requirement as the target’s health bar had to drop to 10%!
nLin Jie had come across many Weapon Specialists, but not many used Slaughter. The reason was simple. The success rate was less than 0.1%. The attack would be deemed to have failed once Slaughter went wrong. Hence, it would be better if they stuck to striking and dealing damage the usual way.
nComparatively, Purgatory Slaughter was much more powerful! The success rate would be slightly higher as it was a Clomaros’ Seven Kills’ technique. Putting that aside, even if it was to fail, there was still the opportunity to launch a Level 5 bash skill, so he had nothing to lose!
nAt that moment, a commotion arose from his Follower Space.
n“Warrior, leave now!” Herya’s panicked voice sounded in Lin Jie’s ears.
n
