n“Possession completed!”
nAt Lin Jie’s words, gusts of blade aura blasted by, and his cape moved even though there was no wind around. His hair stood up!
nLin Jie’s Mana levels decreased rapidly——the series of actions just now was of course not due to summoning of the Sword Saint, but because Lin Jie was recklessly blasting blade auras around in an attempt to create visual effects of being possessed.
n“Hahaha, Wind Rider Sword Saint? He has exhausted all of his powers due to the seal, what can he do to me?” The Bishop laughed loudly. His drew a magic circle in the air with his scepter, and he announced with a savage look on his face, “I will let you see what true power is! My Lord… The Head of the Liches! Please show yourself!”
nA gust of dark wind was conjured up within the magic circle. It transformed into a great, spirit-like illusion. It was the Lich Head, Allaso!
nThat’s right, this was the old man Lin Jie had met before at the Spirited Lake of the Undead.
n“My servant, why did you summon me?” Allaso’s voice echoed in the room. His voice seemed to have traveled from somewhere far away, across the vast emptiness, but it still could be heard very clearly.
nThe Bishop pointed to Lin Jie, “For the glory of Liches, please destroy this possessed body of the Sword Saint…”
nHis eyes widened in surprise as he turned back and saw what happened.
nWhat’s going on? Didn’t this warrior summon the Wind Rider Sword Saint just now? Even though the Wind Rider Sword Saint had lost his powers, his body should still have the size of a hero. Also, he had long been known for his powers which were comparable to that of a half-god. If Master could devour this body, he would increase his power, and at that time he might even alleviate his status to that of an overlord.
nYet, why was this warrior just standing by and folding his arms in front of his chest now, as if looking at a show?
nLin Jie felt lucky that he had made the correct move…’Possession completed? Summoning the Sword Saint? Now, who’s the one kidding here!?’ If he knew those kinds of spells, he would have gotten rid of the Kingdom of Glory long ago, and he wouldn’t mind repeating the process daily if he could. Why should he then still be concerned about it growing stronger?
nThe answer was obvious. The whole “summoning process” was just an act to fool the Bishop, hahaha!
nLin Jie knew that even if hundreds of players combined their forces, they would not be able to take on a Level 20 Gold Boss at this stage. However, things would be easier since this Boss was the servant of the Lich Head. Allaso might be a Lich, but he was an upright and good-hearted fellow. Although undeniably, Liches normally did have malicious intentions.
nIf not, Allason would not have led his army of Liches to save mankind some years into the future and established the great Rule of Liches reign.
n“The great Lich Head, do you still remember me?” The Bishop was too scared to make any movements as Lin Jie started speaking to Allaso.
n“It’s you, the weak human,” Allaso replied calmly, “it seems like you have grown very fast.”
n“Yes, I have always looked up to you as a role model and hope to catch up. But it seems now that I have made a wrong decision,” commented Lin Jie in a plain voice.
n“Why?” Allaso’s tone grew serious.
nLin Jie told Allaso of his conjectures regarding his servant, long-time servant actually, and all the shady businesses he was involved in.
n“Hahaha, you stupid fellow!” The Bishop sneered. “We Liches are formed by evil intentions and grudges, do you think the Lich Head will punish me? No, he will reward me instead! This is the true nature of Liches!”
nAllaso’s eyes gleamed and commented, “I require some bodies which have spiritual powers. Your body seems very suitable.”
n“Ah… Master, you can’t…”
nThe Bishop’s body was engulfed into emptiness.
nAllaso had a distant look in his eyes as he said sorrowfully, “I will rebuild the Holy Light Town, and I hope all those who died in battle can rest in peace. I will ensure the living townsfolk’ safety. As for you, human, you have done well. Indeed, we Liches are kings of the Dark and rulers of Hell, but I have always believed that there will be light even within the Dark. I will become the pathfinder, and lead my people to find glory within the Light!”
nA huge magic circle appeared on top of Holy Light Town. It was transformed to light rain as if washing away the terrible crimes the town suffered and offering it consolation.
nDing~
nMission Completed!
nOver-fulfillment of Mission!
nThe mission had requested for Lin Jie to get approval from Followers. But now, Lin Jie had gotten the approval from a god himself instead!
n“Thank you, respectable Lich Head,” Lin Jie thanked Allaso as he disappeared into emptiness gradually.
nFor a long time after that, Lin Jie kept guessing if a pedantic Paladin was living inside the body of the Lich Head.
nIn any case, no one would have predicted that Lin Jie could complete this plot mission in such a dramatic manner.
nPlacing the necklace on Sister Lily’s bosom, Lin Jie took out the returning scroll and left the town.
n———
nAt the Hall of the Wind Spirit.
n“Hmm, not bad… really not bad.” The Wind Rider Sword Saint checked through the mission items collected. When he saw the approval by Allaso, his forehead creased slightly. All these heroes did not like the Dark powers.
n“Take this proof of the trial, and complete your job change.” The Wind Rider Sword Saint took out a token carved with dragons and phoenixes and handed it to Lin Jie.
n——’You received the Proof of Trial.’
nLin Jie heaved a sigh of relief and put the token into his pocket. After which, he tried to make some small talk with the Sword Saint, but it did not activate any hidden plots.
n“I need to leave here and search for a place with more Wind Elements,” murmured the Sword Saint. A hurricane swept passed, and he disappeared.
nWhen Lin Jie returned to the City of Light, he came to the Jobs Hall.
nThe Warrior mentor bared his upper torso, revealing his robust body as he asked the elven hunter chick beside him, “Judith, how about a cup tonight together?”
n“I will like to change my job,” Lin Jie commented.
nThe Warrior mentor waved his hands impatiently. “Go and collect 20 skulls of the Magically-Enhanced Rats and pass them to me.”
nThis should be the simple-level Job-Changing Mission.
nLin Jie took out the Proof of Expert-Level Trial, but the mentor’s eyes were fixated upon the elven hunter.
nWhoosh!
nA gust of blade aura swept passed his eyes and sliced off his eyebrows neatly.
n“Newbie, you’re courting death…” The Warrior mentor was about to fly into a rage when he caught sight of the complex patterns on the Proof of Trial. He changed to a smile immediately. “Fearless, brave soul, the Guild of Light needs Warriors like you!”
nDing~
n——’You have completed the Expert-Level Job-Changing Mission. Please choose your job specialization.’
nA Warrior could be specialized as a Weapon Specialist or a Berserker. If one’s Agility reached 30 points or above, he could change his job to a Gale Swordsman. If his Wisdom reached 30 points or above, he could choose to become a Magus.
nLin Jie was nicknamed as the Battle Emperor in his previous life. Wouldn’t it be a waste of his seven years of gaming experience if he did not choose to become a Berserker?
n“A Berserker!”
n“Great! I could see the shadow of Ares in your eyes. From this moment onwards, you will be a Berserker!”
nGolden light flashed about!
nThe moment he changed his job, Lin Jie felt the blood in his body boiling, as if it was a living thing that was jumping up in joy. However, this situation only persisted for a few seconds, and everything returned to normal.
n“Newbie, as a Berserker, you need to know how to control and make use of your enormous strength. Now, I shall tell you how to utilize the skills of a Berserker,” the mentor said in a serious tone. However, he was rolling his eyes secretly. Who would enjoy teaching newbies from the alternate realms on how to use their powers?
nLin Jie sat down in equal gloominess. The mentor’s guidance would take at least half an hour, but one couldn’t get the mission rewards unless they finished listening to the guidance.
n“When you change jobs to a Berserker, your Mana levels will be decreased greatly. As compensation, your Rage bar will be double of your previous Rage bar. The Titan’s Grip skill allows you to use two weapons at the same time. When you are equipped with two sets of Two-Handed weapons, you will gain 130% Strength Judgement. While when you are equipped with two sets of One-Handed weapons, your attacks will have an additional 20% of Damage points.”
n“The lower your health points go, the greater your attack power gets. When your health points are lesser than 30%, your Attack Power will be increased to 50%. When it gets lower than 20%, you will have 100% more Attack Power. When it gets lower than 5%, you will enjoy Level 10 Regen abilities.”
n…
n“Last but not least, I will advise you to find a Priest as your girlfriend.”
nThe Warrior mentor had finally finished and came to the last step, giving out the Expert-Level Job-Changing mission’s rewards!
n“This is an old treasure map. The greatest secret of the Warrior job might be hidden here.”
n——’You received a piece of the Torn Treasure Map.’
n——’You are the 16th player who has successfully changed your job. You receive 20 City of Light Reputation points.’
n‘Gotcha!’
nClicking into the conversation box with the mentor, there were different options available, such as ‘Warriors Arena Trial,’ ‘Training Poles’ and ‘Conversation,’ etc.
n‘Let’s learn some skills!’
nUltimate Strike: This is a passive skill. After you use a skill or make normal strikes, there is a 10% chance of you dealing a 100% Damage blow to your target. Requires 1 Gold coin to learn this Skill.
nWeakness Exploit: This is an active skill. When you strike a weak point, you get to deal out 50 Damage points. Your Rage points increase by 10. Cooldown period is 25 seconds. Requires 1 Gold coin to learn this Skill.
nBoth the Ultimate Strike and Weakness Exploit were very practical skills. The only cons were that they were too expensive to learn. But this wasn’t a problem for Lin Jie, because fortunately, he was now literally half a millionaire in the game.
nAs the two skills appeared in his Skill column, Lin Jie felt pleased with himself. At last, he could be considered a Berserker apprentice.
nAfter changing jobs to a Berserker, Lin Jie also received two passive skills, the Blood Power and the Titan’s Grip.
nThe Titan’s Grip was the crux why Berserker could dual wield, while Blood Power was the basis of Lin Jie’s signature move and the foundation of his fame!
nBlood Power: When your health points are lesser than 30%, you increase 50% Attack Power. When your health points are lesser than 20%, you increase 100% Attack Power. When you are in Critical health mode, you gain Level 10 Regen abilities (100% Regen Increase). The Regen effect will only take place for the first attack.
nThe PK methods of Berserkers were very straightforward—fight till the last drop of blood! When a Berserker’s health points decreased to a minimal level, they would give the most powerful blow and kill their opponent in a shot.
nSimple and savage, that’s how a typical Warrior was!
nAfter the job change, Lin Jie’s Stats were also improved significantly.
nFu Sheng: Human Berserker
nLevel 10
nHealth points: 890 (without Broken Blade: 740)
nMana: 50
nRage: 0
nAttack: 89-105 Grip Strength Multiplier 3
nDefense: 95-139
nStrength: 95
nEndurance: 45
nAgility: 12
nWisdom: 3
nSpirit: 3
nWillpower: 10
nGrit: 8
nBlock: 5 (Block chance 12%)
nParry: 3 (Parry chance 7%)
nAll the Warrior type skills would require Rage points for activation. The only skill which required Mana would now be Blade Aura.
nHowever, Lin Jie’s greatest achievement from the mission was still what he held in his hands now!
nThere were 15 people before Lin Jie who had successfully changed their jobs, and Lin Jie guessed that only Eighteen Massacres had received the Job-Changing Mission’s rewards. The remaining 14 people would most probably have chosen the simple-level trials. If not, judging from the difficulty levels of the simple-level trials, they would have been stuck for long periods of time and could not have completed the mission so fast.
nThe Torn Treasure Map had missing edges. Based on Lin Jie’s judgment, the missing edges seemed to occupy only one-third of the whole map. That was one of the rarest ‘Legendary Treasure Map’ out of all the treasure maps in the game, and the piece Lin Jie received seemed even rarer…
nWhen one chose to complete expert-level trials when they changed jobs, upgrade or went through the second upgrading process, they would be able to piece up the whole treasure map. And it would show them where a completed set of Legendary equipment was located!
nLin Jie scrutinized the map carefully. The Legendary Treasure Map would normally point to places in hidden maps. Even if one could not get the treasure straightaway, it would still be good to get some clues of where the treasure was located. In Lin Jie’s previous life, the game creators had boasted proudly that the entire game had only been explored up to 40% during the whole seven years it had been launched.
n“This is…” Lin Jie took out Broken Blade and placed it besides the treasure map, looking at both in surprise.
nThe picture on the map was the same as the embossed patterns on Broken Blade!
n
