Chapter 74 - Clash With The Titans

The many civilians sitting inside the stadium also panicked and rushed out, wondering what was happening. They were worried that the building might collapse over them and bury them alive.

However, the sight that was waiting for them outside did not make them feel any better. Their bodies were trembling and their vision shook as they saw what was going on around them.

Lu Chen, Guan Ye, and Alex quickly moved near Qin Hua and Xu Meilin had also tossed Su Yan over her shoulders and walked towards them not knowing where else to go or if there was even any safe place left.

The land underneath them had given up. Four big cracks emerged and the next instant, the earth split apart through these four tremor lines.

From these, bigger cracks formed which turned into four giant gaping holes. The four holes were positioned as if they were four corners of a square, enclosing everyone on the inside.

Everyone shuddered at the sight of these huge holes.

They looked warily at these pits on the ground, full expecting terrible things to jump out from it; as if they were going to spit out hot lava or something even worse.

A couple of men holding rifles starting shooting at the holes subconsciously.

Qin Hua panted. Her heart was pounding against her chest. She had a very bad feeling.

She started moving away from the holes and some of the others who noticed her actions began to do the same thing, moving away from the holes as much as they could even if it was just a few steps.

But strangely, after the holes formed, a moment of silence ensued which made everyone hope that this was the end of it. After having gone through so much, many did not have it in them to bear any burden bigger than this.

However, how could things be so simple? The moment of silence did not last long and things did not end there.

Without any warning, another tremor began and the ground shook, but this time, something huge and monstrous arose, one from each hole.

Giant snakes were swaying in the air, four pairs of glowing green eyes with vicious slits staring down at the people scattered here and there around the stadium.

Their dark green scales glinted in the morning sunlight, making them seem as if they were a spectacular marvel of nature.

Everyone froze. No one could even think. They were struggling against mere rats which had mutated and evolved to become stronger. Never did they imagine that they would have to deal with the higher predators.

When just these rats were so difficult to handle, how could they even fathom handling their predators, these monstrous snakes?

A dreadful silence filled the air as the four giant snakes opened their mouths, revealing their sharp fangs, and rolling out their long forked tongues.

HISSSSS…

The snakes roared in excitement, probably from having seen so much food lying in wait for their taking.

Their sharp cries sent the crowd in a frenzy, everyone shouting at the top of their lungs. They were living their worst nightmare. Only death and being eaten alive awaited them.

How could they even put up a fought against such blasphemy?! What has happened to the world that they were living in?

Even Lu Chen, Guan Ye, Bing Che, and the ex-military soldier had dazed looks on their faces. It was as if they had all silently accepted their fates and were simply waiting for the snakes to devour them.

Fighting spirit? What was that? In front of the monsters that should only exist in fictional stories, their knees turned to jelly and their brains melted. They couldn't even breathe, let alone move.

When an apex predator stared down at you, its mere gaze locking you in place, what can you possibly do?

The series of notifications beeped, snapping Qin Hua from her trance. She was the first to react and she instantly summoned her clone out, not bothering to hide her abilities any longer.

This right here was do or die. Chances were that she might not survive this battle but didn't want to think about that now. She had come so far. They all had come so far.

If the snakes wanted to feast on them, then they had to at least take some hits first. She was not going to become a meal without even a fight.

While Qin Hua leaped towards one of the snakes to sink her canines into its thick scaly body, her clone galloped towards Xu Meilin.

The young girl was frozen from head to toe and did not look like she was going to be any good in this battle.

Her clone used its head to headbutt the girl and she fell back, tears streaming out of her eyes, Su Yan's body also falling down beside her.

Woof! Woof! Woof! Qin Hua could sense everything that was happening with her clone and she knew that it was not going to work. She didn't have time for Xu Meilin to get over her fears and react.

As she clawed the giant snake in front of her, her clone gripped both Xu Meiling and Su Yan by their shirt collars and dragged them both away from the scene of the battle as if it was dragging dead bodies.

The clone dropped them both in a thick bush behind a giant tree and then disappeared, returning to stand beside Qin Hua and fight.

That was it. That was all she could do for him at the moment. Even if she wanted to, she didn't have any more strength to spare.
