Chapter 1397 In the Precinct

Ning and the other two were dragged to a nearby police station where the woman who had taken them made them all wait while she dealt with something in the station.

She stood in the distance with her tall physique, long golden brown hair, and an expression that looked down on everyone in the station.

The police station was a nicely built, well-lit building with a lot of the police constantly walking around, working. Jasmine and Tim started becoming impatient and worried that they were brought here for something bad. In a foreign country, where they couldn’t understand the language, there were many things that could go wrong, and they didn’t want any of that.

There was a sense of consolation when looking at Ning as he was a towering pillar of hope and confidence, but even then the situation made one feel nervous.

“What is she saying?” Jasmine asked as looked looked in the distance. “Should I go check?”

Tim quickly grabbed her hand and furiously shook his head.

Jasmine paused for a second and looked at Tim before looking down at her hand.

Tim looked down and quickly realized what he was doing. “Ah, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”

“She’s not from this station,” Ning answered while the two were distracted

“What?” both Tim and Jasmine turned around to ask.

“She is a big figure in the police but not from this station, so she needs to gain permission to enforce her authority here,” Ning answered. “She’s currently going through the formalities to do so.”

“You can hear what she’s saying?” Jasmine asked.

“Yes,” Ning answered.

“She’s a big figure?” Tim asked. “Why does she need permission to use her authority then?” Ning looked at Tim. “Imagine your father was teaching a history class, but suddenly a more knowledgeable teacher came to his class and started talking over him to teach your father’s students. Would your father be happy?” he asked.

Tim shook his head.

“Same here,” Ning said. “Even though she is above the captain of this precinct, she still needs to let the captain know what she is doing,” he said. “As I said, formalities.”

“I see,” Tim said.

The group waited for 5 minutes before the woman came back with a few guards and took Ning and the others away to different empty rooms.

As they went, Ning gave them simple advice.

“Tell her everything you know.”

After that, Ning was taken away to an empty dark room with a single light bulb that glowed above him. The room was small and claustrophobic inducing with a single table in the center.

Ning sat on one table, his hands were tied to manacles on either side of the table.

A different person from the woman came to ask him some basic questions. Simple questions such as names and locations were made, and Ning answered them honestly. Maybe a bit too honestly. He had some fun.

The man who asked him questions didn’t know whether to think he was joking or to think he was insane when he heard that Ning was not of this world and had come from somewhere far away in the stars.

The man still continued asking some questions and slowly the questions led to the events of the Zeppelin. After just two questions, Ning realized what was happening.

They were asking him questions about Tony who had apparently immediately left on another ship to the north while the police were still gaining knowledge about the potential terrorist attack at the Zeppelin.

And because Tony was gone, the next closest thing they had learned about there had been Tony’s associates, the people he had been seen talking to.

That was precisely why Ning and the others were brought here. They were being deemed accomplices in a potential plot to take down the Zeppelin.

After Ning answered that there were not any accomplices, the man questioning him left for a while.

Ning remained in the small, claustrophobic room for a while before the door opened again. The woman who had captured them finally entered.

“I’m sorry you had to wait for a long time, Mr. Ning,” the woman said as she walked in and took the chair. She placed a small file on the table and flipped through it.

“It appears you refused to answer my underling’s questions,” the woman said.

“What do you mean? I answered everything truthfully,” Ning said.

The woman looked at Ning with a look that said she did not want to play any games before looking down at the files. “So tell me, Mr. Ning. What brings you here away from the Morgian empire? That’s a long distance away from home,” the woman said.

“I came in search of someone,” Ning answered.

“And that someone is… the Pope?” the woman asked.

“Maybe,” Ning said.

“Why do you want to meet the pope?” the woman’s eyes grew sterner. “It says here that you are planning to kill someone.”

“Yes,” Ning said. “But don’t worry, that shouldn’t be against your laws. Since the one I’m planning to kill isn’t a human, it falls outside of your laws.”

The woman frowned, trying to make sense of the situation. She had expected to come here and understand more about the potential plot to hurt the Zeppelin, but she had discovered some far greater plot in the mix here.

If the person she held was planning to kill the Pope then that was truly quite the big deal.

“How do you know of this Tony Scandor person?” she asked.

“We met on the Zeppelin. I had the girl save him because he was being beaten to death,” Ning answered. The woman looked at her notes. That checked out all around.

“I’m told you have various Zurin treasures on you that you store somewhere on your body. Would you mind taking them out for me to see?”

“I have no treasures,” Ning answered as he leaned on his hand.

“Mr. Ning, if you want to play games during this interrogation, you are going to find that you will have to spend a lot of time in here before you can be let out.”
