Chapter 1481 Overmire City
Zarius Bracksfort was an inventor like no other. He had created many an item that had helped people with their daily lives. From ways to filter water to looms that helped reduce labor in the textile industry. From ways to separate cotton fiber from the seeds to a steam hammer that made metal work easier. From methods to get whiter paper to the creation of the radio.
Zarius had made a tremendous amount of inventions and discoveries, all of which had sent humanity to fly into a more civilized and easier time.
And Zarius had done all of it in just the last 10 years.
As such, he had become a household name, whose song was sung by children in the classroom as one of the greatest people to exist in not just the current day but in history.
Jacob explained this all to Ning, who had only read about it in the book that mentioned Zarius. Coming from a man who worked closely with the inventor, the vibe he received was very much different.
This man revered Zarius, and there was not a single thing he would do to help him.
“Can you tell me what he is working on at the moment?” Ning asked. “Last time was a camera… uh, an Instant Painter, what is it this time?”
“I do not know,” Jacob said. “I wouldn’t tell you even if I knew, not until you have become a proper investor. But the truth is, I truly do not know.”
“Zarius doesn’t tell you?” Ning asked.
“We don’t know what it is he will be revealing just a day prior to revealing to the outside world. There are people that work with him that know about what he’s working on, but they’re kept under such scrutiny, that information simply doesn’t leak.”
“I see,” Ning said. “I guess I will have to wait and see then.”
Many things happened on the way to the Morgian empire. They got caught in a snowstorm on the sea. They were attacked by pirates. There was even a time when it looked as though a Zurin monster would come to attack them.
Thankfully, they all got away through it all easily, and with no need for Ning to even lift a finger.
The snowstorm was harsh, but the crew was ready for it, and dealing with it easily. The snow wasn’t as much of a problem as the storm, and they knew how to handle it.
The pirates came and attacked, but the giant metal cargo ship was not something they could easily deal with. And with how many mercenaries were hired during the trip, there was simply nothing the pirates could do but run away.
As for the Zurin monster, it simply never came close enough to them to be a problem.
Tim and Jasmine asked what treasure it was that the monster carried with it, and Ning answered them.
It was a lamp treasure that when turned on allowed one to see through objects as though they were glass. It was a simple treasure with no more use to it than that, so Tim decided not to get it.
He had one more treasure he could receive, and that he would absolutely only get the greatest one. After a month on the ocean, stopping at maybe only 5 places along the way, and that too for no more than half a day, the ship finally arrived in the Morgian empire.
Tim looked around at the city that was filled with smoke and steam. Even from the ship, he could see that the city was full of cars trains, and factories.
“This is Yamir City. We’ll be staying downtown for today, and tomorrow morning we will head on over to where sir Zarius is.”
Ning nodded. “So he was here the whole time, huh?” he asked.
“Not really,” Jacob said. “Sir Zarius’ safety is our greatest priority, so we change where he works after each new invention he makes. He is here for this year.”
“I see.”
Tim arrived close to Ning and said. “I always thought you were from this empire. Why did you never correct me?” “Why would I?” Ning asked with a chuckle. “I needed to let you believe whatever it was you wanted to believe. And I never said where I was from. It was always you who deluded yourself into thinking you knew where I was from.”
Tim gave a small pout and said nothing.
The group left the ship and made their way to the hotel alongside Jacob. Jacob didn’t stay in the hotel for long, having things to do that needed to be done urgently.
He only arrived back at the hotel later at night, and he slipped into his room without greeting any of them.
The next morning Jacob took Ning and the rest to the train station, where they boarded the train for the Overmire city to the northwest.
The Morgian Empire was controlled by the Morgian royal family, and they controlled a large area of land nearly equal to about 300 thousand square kilometers.
There were 3 major islands in the empire, known simply as the Southland, the Midland, and the Northland. The royal family lived in a castle at the center of the Midland.
Ning and his group were headed to the northwest of the Southland, where they arrived about 6 hours into their journey.
The location they had come to was a large mountainous region with forests growing all around them. There were small villages all around them, and the train didn’t even reach all the way.
The group had to leave in a small car to go where they were going. After another hour of journey, they arrived at a very remote location with no human life, where a single giant barred and guarded building stood.
It looked more like a prison than a place where someone like Zarius would work.
“Please stay here. I will need to go and call the head of security before I can let you all in,” Jacob said and left. Soon after, a group of soldiers arrived outside along with Jacob and a middle-aged female.
“You can come on ahead.” Saʀch* Th N0vlFire(.)nt website on Ggl to access chapters of nvels early and in the highest quality.
