Chapter 1543: Overdose

Ning frowned as he watched the girl who began to feel the effects of the drug.

Had she consumed a lot? It felt like a lot, but then he didn’t know much about the drug to guess if it was much.

‘No, that was 3000 Jiubels worth of drug. That had to be a lot,’ Ning thought. He wondered why she had done that.

For a moment there, he was all but certain that she was going to stop herself from eating it. He could hear her refusing to do so, didn’t he?

He sat by the girl, watching a stupid grin appear on her face. The entire body was flat on the ground, except for her head which was a little tilted due to a bunch of clothes underneath it. Her stupid grin remained on her face for a while before her body began shaking.

Ning looked at her entire body. What was this? One of the effects of the drugs? Was this supposed to happen?

She shook, bit by bit turning violet, jerking around like a fish out of water.

‘This can’t be good,’ Ning thought.

The girl’s eyes went blank as they turned inside the socket and she began fuzzing from her mouth and then began choking on his. Her entire body was out of control from her and she couldn’t even do anything to stop herself, let alone save herself.

“Girl, why would you do that?” Ning couldn’t help but ask. “Why try and kill yourself?”

He quickly moved to help. He moved away the clothes from behind her head and then laid her on her side so she could finally start breathing.

He rubbed her back a little and then poured some healing energy into her body. He was sure he needed some sort of antidote or something, but healing was all he had at the moment.

It wouldn’t get rid of the drug, but it would counter any negative effects the drug had left behind on her body. To remove the drug itself would require him to go through the interface, which he did while helping her.

It took him many seconds to go through the interface, going through skills, then searching for poison-related ones, then searching specifically for the one that was affecting this girl, which required him to buy another bit of information about the girl.

There were a whole lot of steps to go through to buy the antidote instead of just asking the system. In the end, Ning got too fed up and ended up buying a somewhat universal antidote that could cure a person of all sorts of toxins.

He should have bought such a skill from the start, but it was better late than never.

‘Whichever host messaged the Creator to develop the Artificial Intelligence for the system, you have my utmost gratitude,’ Ning thought. One usually only knew how much they were taking something for granted when it was taken away from them.

The girl began coughing all of a sudden now that she was healed, coughing out all the fizz that had appeared in her mouth. She coughed harder for a few more seconds before slumping back onto the ground and wheezing deeply, trying to breathe.

Ning healed her body once again and only then did the girl calm down.

She slowly turned around and saw Ning sitting next to her, holding her. She was surprised a bit and tried to move away, but Ning stopped her. S~aʀᴄh the NvlFir.nt website on Ggl to access chapters of nvels early and in the highest quality.

“You’re weak. Don’t move too much,” he said. Instead, he moved away to grab some blankets and some pillows. He fished those out from the pile of clothes on the bed and noticed something as he did so.

He brought back the pillow for her to lay on and put the blanket over her.

“Relax, your body went through quite an episode,” he said.

“What… what happened to me?” she asked. “Who are you?”

Ning raised his eyebrow. “You don’t remember?” he asked.

The girl shook her head. “What should I be remembering?”

“Do you remember taking the drugs?” Ning asked, pointing to the small vial and the empty glass on the table.

The girl looked at the vial and shivered. “I… I remember buying it, but…” she couldn’t remember. She thought hard and flashes came to her. “I came home… and… and I… did I eat

it?”

“You ate it all,” Ning said. “That was definitely the wrong thing to do. You nearly died of an overdose. Had I not been here, you would’ve died for sure.”

The girl shook once again. “Wait… who are you? How did you get into my room?” she finally asked.

Ning sat back. “I’m Ning. I’m with the military,” he said.

“The military?” she asked. “Why are you in my room then?”

“I saw you buy the drug from those kids and followed you here to see what you did with it. I’m on a mission regarding these drugs and wanted to know more. I sneaked in here while you

weren’t looking. I watched you eat that entire vial of drug at once.”

The girl grabbed her body and wrapped the blanket around her tightly.

“Can you tell me why you did that?” Ning asked.

The girl said nothing.

“You must answer me,” Ning said. “Why did you take that much drug in at once? Not only that, I saw you telling yourself ‘No’ beforehand too, and you still drank it. Why?”

“I… I didn’t think it would’ve killed me,” she said as tears finally flowed down her face. “I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die.”

“Katie!” Ning said, grabbing her attention. He pulled one of the clothes out of her bed and showed it to her.

It was a military uniform, one with the Officer rank in it.

“You are an officer of the Military. Why would someone like you do drugs in the first place?” Ning asked. “That makes no sense to me at all.”

The girl said nothing.

“Katie, answer me or I’ll inform your superiors about this.”

That seemed to finally grab her attention.
