Chapter 1576: Reason for Sparkless

Ning decided there was only one way to find out what the true target of the Spark was and that was to let the power target it. He could always use the System to revert it if something bad happened to him.

He took in another handful of Spark and let the power settle into his body, waiting to be used. A few seconds later, he began feeling the power of trying to change something in his body.

Unlike the other times, this time Ning let whatever was going to happen, happen.

As soon as he gave the permission, Ning felt a feeling similar to the power dissipating from his body. It was a weird feeling. He knew the power wasn’t dissipating, and yet that was what the feeling said it was doing.

What was it really doing?

Ning waited for a while for the power to be fully gone and tried to see if he could still use Spark. He grabbed another handful of Spark and checked if he could still feel the power within him.

He most definitely could.

‘Did nothing happen?’ Ning wondered. Something had to have happened. He had given permission for something to happen.

‘I must not have eaten enough Spark,’ Ning realized. Unlike other people, his body needed a lot more.

He continued consuming as much Spark as he could and let it linger in his body, affecting it as it desired. It took a lot of Spark for him to do anything, but as time went on, he started feeling the effects of having confused too much Spark without using it.

Slowly, his body was beginning to accept Spark less and less as time went on, letting him feel less of the power that came from consuming Spark.

Ning wondered if it was just a feeling at first and if he had simply gotten used to having that much power inside of him, but no. It was actually happening.

He was getting less and less output from the Spark he ate. His body was getting… less efficient?

‘What the hell?’ Ning thought. He tried out his new level of ability and found the performance to be way too low to be him. It was like… he was becoming weaker by consuming more Spark.

‘No, something is changing inside of me,’ Ning thought. ‘But what?’

He continued his journey of consuming more and more Spark and finally, after what felt like forever, he could no longer feel any power from Spark whatsoever.

His body had become completely immune to the powers of Spark. Meaning, he had become Sparkless.

“So it’s done?” Ning said to himself. He could feel the discomfort inside of him at the moment, like a feeling of hollowness. His body wanted to feel the power from Spark once again, but he couldn’t.

It was useless.

Ning understood now why people gave up so easily. Why they chose suicide as opposed to living like this. The feeling was horrible.

This was the reason that Katie had turned to Dust. She wanted to get away from this feeling.

‘I must not even be feeling that bad,’ he thought. To him, Spark didn’t matter as much. But to a regular human living in this city, Spark was everything.

He couldn’t imagine living with the same depressive feeling he was feeling right now but amplified many times more.

He shook his head and forgot about the feelings for now. It was time for him to figure out just what Sparkless truly was. What changes had been made to his body that he could no longer use Spark?

Ning teleported back to his room and sat on the soft bed as he thought about things.

Before he knew anything about Sparkless, he had come up with two hypotheses.

The first of the hypotheses was about one’s body gaining immunity to Spark as it could be considered something foreign to a human body.

Ning had thought this to be the more likely possibility, but that had been disproved today.

He had figured out that it was not his body that was changing, but rather the Spark that was making some changes in his body. So, the possibility of immunity coming from the body could not be true.

The other hypothesis he had was that there was an organ that was damaged when one consumed too much Spark. But Ning’s body constantly healed any and all damage on its own. So the possibility of damage being there was not correct as well.

As he thought along those lines, he began thinking of another possibility.

“The Spark definitely did something to my body, but it is not an injury of any sort, so my body didn’t heal it,” Ning thought. “So something must’ve changed inside of me while I am not hurt.”

There was one way to find out.

Ning closed his eyes, focusing his attention on his real self’s power to see everything all around him. He then changed his perspective, looking on the inside.

He could see his muscles on the inside of his stomach, all the organs that were in the right place, none of them having changed one bit. He then went lower toward his naval area. saʀᴄh th NovelFull.net website on Ggl to access chapters of nvels early and in the highest quality.

That was where the organs such as the Sea of Qi, Sea of Mana, and various other organs were located in. All of the major energies had their own special organ, and for the less frequent ones, some of the Sea-organs adapted to work with those energies.

In the case of Spark, one of those lesser organs had been transformed to accept it.

Ning didn’t know if these people had a similar organ too or not, but looking at his own now, he had no doubt that they did.

All the other organs in his body were normal, but this one organ that worked with Spark now had a layer of something white, almost crystalline in nature, surrounding it.

‘Is this it?’ Ning wondered as he looked at the object that had surrounded the crystal. ‘Is that the source of Sparkless?’
