Chapter 1627: Paper

nThe bald man took out a book he had been carrying with him and opened it. Suddenly, loose paper fell from the book, scattering onto the ground.
nNing was about to strike the corpse’s leg again when he saw the white paper fly toward him. Instinctively, he moved back, swinging at the paper. Saʀᴄh th N0ᴠFre.nt website on Ggl to access chapters of nvels early and in the highest quality.
nHis aim was excellent and he skewered multiple papers at once. Despite the weaker body he used, he was still a master at the art of Spear.
nHowever, despite what he did, the paper didn’t stop. It tore itself apart, shredding it into multiple pieces as it still came toward him.
nNing tried to move away, but the paper seemed adamant about coming toward him to the point that they changed direction in mid-air and landed on his face.
nNing was prepared for a million paper cuts on his face, but instead, the paper just landed on his face flat, not moving.
nNing saw more paper coming toward him from the slip within his vision and quickly shook his head to get it off, but the papers stuck to him, unmoving.
nNing tried desperately, but more paper landed on him, covering up his face completely. Let alone being able to see anything anymore, even breathing was becoming difficult.
nNing let go of the spear, grabbing onto the shred of paper on his face, and peeling it away. It peeled away easily, but the moment he tried to throw it away, the papers clung back to his face. He tore more and more away, but the paper kept getting stuck to his face and soon even stayed on his hand.
nIt was such a clump on his hand that he couldn’t even fully make a fist anymore. He tried reaching for the spear he had dropped, but grabbing it became difficult.
nThe many papers made it hard for him to fight properly. More paper flew at him, landing around his body, suffocating him even more.
nNing created a barrier to stop them, but they simply moved around the barrier once they stuck to it, and made it into his body again.
nHe moved away a few pieces from his face to take some breath and at that time saw that the corpse had completely ignored him and had been moving toward Shara.
nHe tried to move forward but slipped and fell to the hardwood floor. The many papers on him thankfully made the fall not as hurtful.
nAs the paper came back to fill the void of his face, he saw something on the floor before his vision was taken away.
nIt was a glass that was supposed to be next to the pitcher on the table. It was dropped, the water spilling under the bed, which he hadn’t noticed before.
nHe didn’t know why that was.
nHe ignored the thought for now, forcing himself toward the corpse to grab onto its legs. He had a job to do, and he couldn’t let the girl get caught.
nHis fingers made it hard to grip the corpse, so he tried to use his entire body. Only for the corpse to kick him away.
nHe struck the foot of the bed and felt pain flare along his back.
n“Come on, let’s go,” the bald man said and the corpse moved back.
nNing knew he had to do something, but he didn’t know what. Shara was asleep, thanks to the director’s powers, so…
nA thought came across Alex’s mind at that moment. Had she been put under the old man’s power? Then… what the hell was up with the glass?
nAnd that trail of dried liquid along the side of her face. Had she only been drinking water when she was put under?
nThere was a possibility that he had used his powers on her and the glass had just contained regular water that slipped out of her hand as she fell asleep.
nBut Ning wanted to believe that was not the case, as that was a much easier thing to deal with and he wanted that.
nNing quickly rolled away from the bed and cleared his vision while he did so. He began rubbing his hands quickly, trying to get the papers to crumble up to a point where they weren’t in the way of what he wanted to do.
nTurning into smaller clumps made it even harder to close his fist, but Ning didn’t really care about that at the moment. He had something else in mind.
nNing created a tiny barrier right where the corpse was about to step, not to stop him, but to slow his foot down completely. The feet got slower and slower as they tried the step on the vertical palm-sized barrier, never stopping on the floor itself.
nThe instability made it hard for the corpse to keep walking, especially when the left leg it was standing on was already cut.
nNing kicked the corpse on the back of its knee and the corpse’s left leg folded, its body falling backward. It tried to pull out its body, but it was too slow.
nIt fell.
nNing quickly reached for Shara even as the bald man threw more paper at him to stop him. Ning pulled out his Points store at the same time, looking in to see what he had.
nAt the moment, Ning only had a single point from when he had fed Shara yesterday. Beyond that, he had no point.
nBut he hoped, that one point was all he would need. He clicked on the blue hologram panel that appeared in front of him and a Minor Physical Enhancement Potion came out of it.
nIt was a potion that improved one’s strength, speed, stamina, and endurance by about 10%. Ning barely opened the top of the potion with his paper-filled hand and dumped it into Shara’s mouth.
nThe corpse pushed him aside with one hand while the rest of the paper grabbed onto him, now completely covering him up.
nThere was nothing else that Ning could do.
nThankfully, there was nothing more that he needed to do.
