nNing looked at the shop before his eyes, both disappointed and surprised at the same time. It was a weird mix of emotions as he had wanted more than what he had gotten. But what he had gotten wasn’t so bad that the outcome hadn’t been a net positive overall.
nThe only 4-point option was a helpful potion that could cure any sort of poison or venom that one could come across during their travel. Even though it said Minor, it was capable of curing anything non-lethal or too powerful.
nIt was mostly useful in treating oneself from regular allergies and natural toxins that may make life a problem.
nNing skipped out on that potion and looked at the next two potions, both costing him 5 points. They said Lesser for both of them, so Ning guessed that Lesser was better than Minor.
nThe healing pill was slightly better, healing one from deep cuts and injuries. It could also heal many major diseases and was thus incredible.
nHowever, it couldn’t heal anything that was either too old or had missing parts. So, amputation could still not be healed.
nThe strength potion did the same thing the first potion did, but instead, it upped everything by 50% instead of just 10%. That was a massive jump which made Ning look at it twice to make sure he hadn’t seen wrong.
n50% was a massive increase, which made Ning wonder just what sort of effects the higher- grade potions would have. He simply couldn’t wait.
nAnd then, he looked at the thing that interested him the most.
nThe Dimensional Storage.
nIt was clear to him what it was, and had even been missing it for a while now. If he had the storage, he wouldn’t have to be walking with things in his pockets.
nHe tapped on it and read what it said.
nGrants you a 20 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm dimensional storage that can be used however you want. Cannot store living creatures.
n’20 by 20 by 20?’ Ning thought, slowly making guesses with his hands to see how large it would be.
n‘Wait, that’s like nothing!’ he realized. The size of the Dimensional Storage for 5 points was no larger than a regular human head. That was pathetically small for what Ning wanted.
n‘5 points? Really?’ he thought. It was so difficult to get 5 points and this is what the system wanted to give him. ‘I can’t even put my clothes in there. Why is it so small?’
nNing continued grumbling in his own thoughts regarding the storage when the Captain walked up to the deck next to them. He had done with whatever he needed to do for the ship, so now it was time for him to do why he had been given a place on the ship.
n“Come with me,” the Captain said and Ning stood up. Shara looked at him weirdly, not sure if she should follow. She was still traumatized by Frank’s situation and didn’t want to be around Spirits.
n“Come. You can stay away and watch,” Ning said, following the Captain as he was led to the Captain’s quarters.
nThe room was tiny, but considering the size of the ship, it was not that bad. The room had a desk and a bed. The Captain sat on a chair next to the desk and gestured for Ning and Shara to sit on the bed.
n“Is my daughter still here?” he asked.
nNing nodded, looking at the Spirit that lingered on the man’s shoulders. The tiny eyes of that girl looked so very sad.
n“Can you help us communicate?” he asked.
nNing had never tried this before. He wasn’t sure if it would work at all. His ‘memory’ said it shouldn’t be possible, but he also knew he couldn’t fully trust his memories as it was intentionally flawed like a regular human would be.
n“I can make no guarantees, but I can try,” Ning said and readied himself. He looked at the spirit of the young girl and spoke once more.
n“Hi,” Ning called out to the ghost. “Would you like to talk to your Daddy?”
nThe girl nodded.
nNing was surprised. He wasn’t expecting the girl to nod, but it was better that she did. It meant that he could help her. He smiled and said, “What do you want me to tell him?”
n“I want Daddy to no longer be sad,” the girl said.
nAn odd feeling came across Ning at that moment. Wasn’t that the same thing that she had said last time too?
n‘Maybe I just asked the same question,’ he thought and replied what she said to the father verbatim.
nThe Captain seemed ready to cry again but held back his tears. “Ask… ask her, if she is disappointed in me as a father.”
nNing felt a pang of heartache hearing the man’s words. As a father, he couldn’t imagine what he would do should he ever lose a child.
nHe was somewhat grateful that Emma was virtually Immortal and the strongest being inside of his Inner world.
nNing turned to the spirit of the young girl, his voice dipping underwater again, as he asked what the father said.
nThe girl looked at Ning as though she couldn’t understand him for a brief moment and replied, “I want Daddy to no longer be sad.” saʀᴄh th N0vlFire(.)nt website on Ggl to access chapters of nvels early and in the highest quality.
n‘The same thing,’ Ning said, slightly taken aback. ‘Was this the dying wish of the soul being reverberated once it been a Spirit?’
nHe asked a few more questions and got the same reply back each time, now fully confident
nthat the girl said nothing more to a Spirit Detective.
nSo, he had to give the regretful answer back to the father that he could not talk to her departed daughter, even indirectly.
