n1679 A New Power

nThe woman got back on her feet slowly, looking at Ning as she did. The spirit controlling her body at the moment was confused. It hadn’t realized that Ning had any power at all. Ning looked to the side and saw that the fire had covered where his knife had been tossed. Finding it would be difficult. But, that was alright. The fight was over anyway. seaʀᴄh thё Nôvelƒire.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

nHe looked at the woman with her bleeding face. With how hard he had hit her, there was no doubt that her forehead wasn’t broken. It wouldn’t take long for him to defeat her.

nHe had remained by the cart to use his Spear, but the fight had begun so abruptly that he had been moved away from it. He either needed to get back to it or…

nThe woman charged suddenly with no prior impression of attacking. Ning had been reading for her still and jumped to the side.

nHe punched her in the face as ran past him. When she fell down, he ran to kick her. But the girl was already turning around, ready to grab his leg again.

nNing didn’t let that happen and quickly pulled his leg back, jumping to the side before kicking. He struck the woman right in the forehead.

nHe didn’t yet know if he could change anything besides his hand and forehead, so the kick was a normal kick from him. It should have been enough to knock out had it been the normal woman, but the spirit was more than strong.

nIt remained away, trying to fight back.

nIt attacked, swiping at Ning’s feet. Ning jumped back, flipping once before landing in the distance. The woman got back up and looked at him, the silhouette of her figure being hard to judge with the fire behind her.

nNing barely saw an outline of her face and from what he could see, she was smiling.

n‘Smiling?’ Ning thought, confused. Ning couldn’t understand why she was smiling at that very moment, but the next moment, the answer became apparent.

nThe woman turned around and dove into the fire. She rolled in it and got back up, staring toward Ning while within the flames. Her skin began burning, but the woman showed no pain.

nShe simply took the butcher’s knife from the flames and slowly walked out toward Ning.

n“Shit!” Ning said softly, realizing she had gotten the knife. He had to be careful now.

n“Kekekeke!” the woman laughed exactly like someone possessed. Then, she lunged for Ning, swinging the knife crazily.

nNing dodged back, jumping away from the knife. But the woman charged toward him while swinging left and right. He dodged the slashes and made it a little away from the cart when suddenly he stepped on a bit of a hole in the grass and slipped.

nHe fell back, slamming his back onto the ground. The soft grass softened his fall, but the woman was not on top of him, the heat from her body still burning her.

nNing tried to move but she grabbed his only arm with her spare arm and pushed it to the side.

nShe looked down at him, but Ning could barely see anything aside from the shine of blood on her cheeks.

n“Now, don’t cause any more trouble and just die,” she shouted, swinging the knife down at Ning’s chest.

nNing prepared for the impact and… CLANG~

nThe woman paused in confusion when she heard what she did. She looked down, confused. She pulled back her arm once again and swung back down at his chest.

nCLANG~ CLANG~

n“Metal! Are you wearing an armor underneath?” the spirit asked before saying, “No, this is your ability. Your damn ability.”

nShe raised her knife up and plunged down on Ning’s forehead.

nNing immediately took a deep breath and closed his eyes while changing the skin on his face into iron. The knife slammed down and he heard the clang again.

n“Why!” the spirit shouted and Ning heard the clang again. She raised her arm another time and… “Argh!” the spirit cried, the woman’s face a look of horror. Ning felt fresh blood spray on his face. He looked up and saw the woman sitting straight on top of him. The woman gazed away for a long time before slowly turning her head down toward her chest.

nA spear came out of the front of her chest and pushed in from the back. She slowly turned around.

nLightning flashed in the sky and she saw who was behind her.

nShara stood behind her, holding in her hand the spear. She had stabbed the woman in the back, piercing her body entirely.

n“You…” the spirit said slowly before suddenly swinging the knife back at Shara.

nShara stood still and the knife simply passed through her.

n“Did you see everything?” Ning asked.

n“Y-yes?” Shara said. “She attacked you for no reason.”

n“No!” Ning shouted. “There’s a spirit inside of her. Destroy it.”

n“Huh?” Shara asked, confused.

n“Spirit!”

nShara seemed to realize what it was that she had to do at that very moment. She let go of the spear and grabbed the woman’s face from the back. At the same time, she used whatever power it was that was within her thanks to her being a Reaper. The spirit was suddenly pulled away from the woman, leaving a gasping Oly behind who didn’t know what was happening.

nThe woman fell down to the side from shock and immediately began convulsing in pain and agony as all the wounds that the spirit had her take overwhelmed her at once.

nShara moved back, horrified.

n“N-Ning! We should help her!” she said.

nNing shook his head. “No,” he said as he slowly got back up and looked at her. “She tried to kill us. No, she nearly succeeded. I won’t save her.”

nNing looked down at the woman who had lost consciousness. He couldn’t help her even if he wanted either. The wound on her body was way too much to save her.

n“Let her die for her crimes,” Ning said. “That is the only salvation she shall have.”
