Chapter 92 - 25 - The Buried Memories Of The Twins (part 2)
n
n
nOne day, I finally came to my senses and realized that I can't move my arms... at all... I could barely feel with them and could make them swing if I moved my torso, but nothing more than that. I was scared. I cried. I felt so helpless in the darkness. But I had you to help me.
n{Indeed}.
nBy that point magic has saved us many times already, so I tried to make my hands move with magic. I focused my mind and let the mana fill my useless broken limbs.
n{And you succeeded.}
nAlmost. Not exactly though... Not the way I wished for. I could move my arms but they felt alien. As if they didn't fully belong to me, I couldn't move my fingers the same way as before either.
n{But after you managed to make your arms move with magic, your control over mana and power of the spells became a lot better than mine.}
nIndeed.
n{I still am jealous of how good you are with it.}
nAnd I am jealous that you are able to do all those detailed motions with your fingers, and that you can hug someone without killing them – although, you almost did seriously harm sir Zoemi before, while hugging him.
n{...Apologies... sorry for saying something stupid.}
n…
n{I really am sorry, can we go back to our story?}
n…
n{…}
n...fine... Then, three years ago - when we decided to check the outside world once again, we have ended up in paradise!
n{There was food - real food – everywhere around us!}
nForgetting ourselves in this heaven above the earth, we started stuffing our mouth with every possible delicacy in our reach.
n{Then the door opened and two boys entered, they must have been alarmed by the noise that we were making.}
nOne with gold hair and the other with black hair. Both looking at us with shock.
n{The black-haired one had a swirly burn-mark on one side of his face and was looking very scary.}
nThe gold one shouted something at us, he seemed to be very upset, and he pointed his hand at us.
n{We understood his words.}
nIt was the language of our parents.
n{He called us robbers}.
nAnd that he was going to dispose of dirty scoundrels like us.
n{Kill us.}
nWere we supposed to die there?
n{Just like our parents, back in our village?}
nI wasn't going to back down and chose to fight back.
n{And I chose to run...}
nBut in the end, there was no need for either of us to do anything.
n{The scary-looking boy grabbed the gold boy's hand and stood in front of him, blocking the two of us with his own body.}
nAnd the things he was saying.... were... good – for the two of us.
n{He was scolding the prince.}
nHe was protecting us.
n{He wasn't scared of us.}
nHe wanted to help us.
n{After he offered his helping hand to us, things started happening so fast that we barely remember half of it.}
nWe were fed, bathed, and fed again. We were put to bed that was so soft it felt like we were sinking.
n{Our scary-looking savior visited us a few times. He told us that everything will be fine now – he told us that we don't have to be scared.}
nHe understood us.
n{We asked him about who he was.}
nAnd he said that he was Zoemi Auequas the attendant of lady Miriette Lisea Espine.
n{after that, we have asked him many other questions and he answered all of them with a smile.}
nBut Zoemi had to return to his master and couldn't stay with us forever.
n{But we wanted to be with him!}
nHe was similar to us! We wanted to be near him!
n{And he protected us!}
nWe wanted to be just like him.
n{And so, when some people we didn't know came to us and asked us what we would want to do from now on, we said that we wanted to become attendants!}
nWe thought that if we become attendants then we will be able to be together with our savior!
n{Then the gold boy, who Zoemi called a prince, returned and after hearing our wish, he declared that he wants us to become his attendants, and everyone in the room bowed to him.}
nThe gold-haired boy really was the prince.
n{He would become our master, even though I was very scared of him at the beginning.}
nHe did try to kill us.
n{But that didn't stop you from starting to like him.}
n...no comment...
n{Fine. And so, our training began.}
nI couldn't move my hands very well, so I could only do a bare minimum of the housework and often destroyed the thing that I was currently holding because I misjudged the amount of strength I was using because of the power of my enchantments - that allowed me to use my hands – was greater than average earth magician's.
n{I could do all the chores perfectly, but I was very crude with my magic.}
nI could use magic so well that our teacher became surprised, he even called for someone smarter to check up on us.
n{It was someone important - a man called Lazaram. He tested us with some crystals and he was surprised.}
nWery surprised - it turned out that the two of us share a singular mana pool - and the two of us have the strength of an average water magician – we were transcended magicians.
n{The shared mana reservoir explained why when I used all of my magic you've also passed out from the mana depletion back when our tunnel collapsed.}
nIndeed.
n{Apparently, the shared mana pool was something that never happened before, and even someone called the headmaster of the Aspaceony Academy came to take a look at us.}
nThe person from the Academy had this creepy feeling around him.
n{There was something wrong with him as if he was merely a puppet steered by somebody else from the inside.}
nBut he was nice. He said that if we want to, we could enroll in his academy and learn to control our magic there.
n{The Lazaram person used another crystal to check our age and said we were fourteen, almost perfect age for enrolling.}
nThat also surprised him.
n{He said we look younger.}
nOur savior and the gold boy were twelve, they were younger.
n{We refused. We wanted to become attendants, to meet with our savior again.}
nMy prince overheard that and promised that he will get us the best teachers to learn everything we need, and assured us that when we become his attendants – we would be able to often meet with our savior!
n{Your prince...?}
n...no comment...
n{Anyway - he wasn't lying.}
nBut first, we had to complete the training. until then. we could only watch the gold-haired prince, our black-haired savior, and the dark-haired girl, from the window of the room we had our lessons.
n{And then, after the long wait, we finally got to be with him!}
nHe called me a good girl and patted my head!
n{Me too!}
n...
n{...}
nBut... But now...
n{Sir Zoemi is mad at us...!}
nI've failed him! I'm not a real attendant! I can't do any chores because of my hands! I'm not a good girl at all!
n{I've hurt him! I'm a bad attendant that can't hold back her emotions! And I did other mean things to someone else too...! I'm not a good girl at all!}
n...wait, what...? What did you do?!
n{It's not important now – our problem is that sir Zoemi...}
nIndeed...
nThe tears of the twins just wouldn't stop flowing...
n
"We failed sir Zoemi, Veo...
"
nCried the younger twin.
n
"He hates us now, Teo...
"
nThe older twin teared up.
nTwo short brown-haired girls were lying on a bed in a well-lit room sealed from the outside world.
nThey were holding each other hands and sobbing.
n
