nXavier asked with hollow eyes, “Do you have a death wish…?”.

nNew Quest has been added.

nThe quest screen beside Xavier caught his attention.

nQuest: Rescue family from the Vampire Camp. (New)

n‘Zero out of two? There’s still a chance my father is alive… It should be three…’

n‘And should I just drink this guy’s blood?’ Xavier pondered tightly gripping his head.

n“A-ARGH!!! IT HURTS!!! I GET IT, I’M SORRY!! LET GO!!!”

nAlthough he apologized, Xavier didn’t let go, and his fangs were emerging from his lips as he eyed the man’s neck.

nMany people in the room watched nervously, but a small minority didn’t seem to mind and actually found it quite funny. It was hard for them to hold back their laughter as they saw Xavier stretch his arm up to grab the man’s face.

nThe tall dark-haired man who had been with Xavier simply smiled and sighed.

n*Clap*

nClapping his hands, the cement gray haired man attracted everyone’s attention.

n“Let’s all calm down, why don’t we?” He asked with a smile. “Xavier, he’s apologised, that should be good enough to let him go, shouldn’t it?”

n‘…Drinking his blood won’t work here…’ Xavier thought to himself.

n“Don’t forget that he’s a part of our group now… If you don’t let him go, we’ll have no choice but to retaliate… Do you think you could take on everyone in this room and other people positioned in this base all by yourself?”

n“…”

nXavier didn’t respond or loosen his grip.

n“Don’t you have a family to save?”

n“…Tsk.”

nClicking his tongue, Xavier threw the man to the side.

n“Gah…!” The man gasped only to tremble as he grabbed his reddened face.

nXavier walked right past the cloaked man and moss green haired man without a word. The green-haired man had an amused expression on his face while the cloaked man seemed unconcerned.

nHe glanced at the red-haired girl who was crouched behind them, and she glanced away from her tablet to look back at him.

nXavier walked past her too after making eye contact with her for a few seconds.

nThe tall, dark-haired man who had given him the trial stood by the open door, waving to him.

nAfter Xavier reached the door, the two walked out after the dark-haired man waved at the cement-grey-haired person watching.

n*Beep*

nExiting the room, the doors closed with a beep, leaving a quiet room behind.

n“…”

n“Well then, as I was saying-”

nSuddenly, the orange haired man shouted in frustration, interrupting the cement gray haired man. “What are you doing!? Are you really going to let him just leave like that after what he-”

nThe grey-haired man moved his hand toward his lips to gesture to the orange-haired man to be quiet. He stared at him with cold eyes and a look akin to that of someone looking at a bug on the side of the road.

nAfter that, the orange-haired man instantly shut his mouth… Once again, he was paralyzed by fear, rendering him speechless.

n“…Now to repeat myself, as I was saying… I’m sure you’re all tired.”

n“Those who are joining will be escorted to another room to receive your IDs and rooms. Get some rest for you will begin training soon after. You will also be given a lesson and explanation on the energy inside you which fuels your ability.”

n“Some of you will have more energy in vessel than others, do not fret, the amount can be increased through special means. By increasing it you’ll grow much stronger, last longer with your ability and become able to increase its output. Look forward to it.”

n“Those who wish to leave will be escorted out as initially intended. That is all.”

n*Beep*

nThe door opened with a beep, and a group of men and women in uniform could be seen waiting outside.

nThey saluted to the cement-grey haired man after seeing him.

nEach person left the room one by one, leaving behind the moss green haired man and cloaked man, as well as the red wine haired girl as they were stopped by him.

n“I’d like to thank you two for stopping him.” Said the cement grey haired man as he looked at the green haired man and the cloaked man. “I have great hopes for you two.”

nThe cloaked man nodded before walking out.

n“There’s no need to thank me, I didn’t do much… And besides.”

nThe green-haired man glanced at the cement gray haired man, whose hands were behind his back, before looking at the sheath around his waist.

n“If you wanted to kill him, I’m sure you easily could.” Added the green haired man before also walking out.

n“Hohoho~” The cement grey haired man chuckled.

nHe and the red wine-haired girl who was playing a game on her tablet were now the only ones in the room.

n“So, what did you think about him? I didn’t expect you to step in yourself.” He asked her.

nHer eyes flashed a scarlet light as she focused on the game.

n“He was arrogant… And immature… However, it wasn’t without reason…”

n“Hm?” The grey-haired man let out in concern.

n“I thought I got better at controlling my ability but… I couldn’t see it.. What his future holds…” She stated.

nThe cement grey haired man’s eyes widened.

nWith a confused expression, she scratched the back off her head. “More like I could see it… But it kept constantly changing making everything blurry…”

n“Oh~ For you to be saying that… He must be quite special, isn’t he?”

n“Yeah… For a moment, just a single moment, I could make out his figure standing on a pile of corpses… ‘He’s dangerous or at least he’s on the way of becoming it.’

nThe game character on the girl’s tablet suddenly died, then a highlighted message appeared on her screen.

nGame Over.

nThe crouched girl sighed before getting up and walking over to the door.

n“You… You knew, didn’t you..? As did the high ranking official who was with him.”

n“Knew what?” The cement grey haired questioned with an amused look.

n“That he’s a Vampire.”

nThe cement-grey haired man smiled.

n“Why do you ask? Did you fall for him?”

n“Yeah, right… I’ll give you a heed of warning, there are some things in this world you can’t control.” She responded before walking out.

nThe cement gray haired man was left on his own inside the room as the door closed behind her.

n“For even her to say that about him… And for him to resist direct exposure to UV lights without any protection whilst also having a strong hate for the Vampires…”

nHe chuckled to himself as he thought of all the ways he could use Xavier.

n“Perhaps all hope isn’t lost.”

nAlong with the tall, dark-haired man, Xavier walked down the hall toward the building’s exit.

n“Don’t you think you were too extreme?” The tall dark haired man asked. “Are you sure you don’t want to join us?”

n“…”

nXavier didn’t reply.

nSighing, he realized it was pointless to try and reason with him.

nTwo people walking suddenly halted as someone appeared in their path.

n“Hm? Is she your friend?”

n‘She’s…’

nThe blonde-haired student from his school, the one with oceanic blue eyes, who believed he was trying to help them. She was being accompanied by another officer.

n“Are you really leaving?” She asked.

n“What do you want?” Xavier responded coldly.

nHer right brow twitched.

n“…”

n“I wanted to thank you… For helping us…”

n“No need to thank me, that wasn’t my intention… And if that’s all, then bye.” Said Xavier as he suddenly walked past her.

n“…”

nStanding there, she watched him walk past with a sad expression on her face. She felt she had no right to expect much since they barely helped him while he risked his life to fight.

n“Will I… Ever see you again?” She asked.

n“…”

nXavier didn’t respond.

nTears welled up in her eyes as she hung her head in sorrow. Suddenly, she heard him say.

n“Possibly.”

nThat was his last word before turning the corner.

nA smile grew on her face as she wiped away her tears and clenched her chest.

n–

n“Wasn’t that a bit cold?” The tall dark-haired man asked as he caught up to Xavier.

n‘I didn’t have much of a choice… During our talk, I couldn’t stop staring at her neck and…’

nXavier shook his head.

n‘I’m getting hungry again…’

n*Vrooom* *Vrooom!!!*

nWith his eyes blindfolded, Xavier stood at the back of a closed truck as the sound of an engine echoed around him.

nHe received an empty backpack and his Vampire sword back. They didn’t question anything about it to him as one of the girls explained that he had picked it up from the Vampire during the questioning.

n‘They don’t want me knowing where the base is, huh…’

n‘It’s pointless, they could just find out from a member taken hostage… Unless…’

nSuddenly, the engines ceased and the sound of battle echoed from outside.

n“Take off your blindfold and jump off… Quick!”

nAfter swiping off the blindfold, Xavier leapt off the stopped car and was met by a cloudy, wet world outside.

nIt wasn’t a long trip, so the base was probably somewhere nearby. He was back in central London.

nAfter completing his jump, he slid down the wet sidewalk only to come face to face with a ghoul seconds later.

nJust before his nose, the ghoul lunged at him with its mouth wide open.

n*Swoosh!*

nAfter holding the sword ready to slice the ghoul in half, Xavier was beaten by a half second as an arrow pierced the ghoul’s head from the sides before pinning him against the wall beside him.

nOne of the men in the white uniform said, “Thank you.” as he launched two more arrows at the two ghouls from behind him.

n‘Thanks for what? Leaving me in the middle of the city with all this noise?’ Xavier wondered as he watched the gathering number of ghouls in the distance.

nXavier knew he had to get out of here as soon as possible.

nAs the man and his group hopped onto the truck, they drove away through the hordes and avoided the other empty vehicles on the street.

nXavier scanned his surroundings. Based on the underground station sign and the nearby rail train station, he quickly found out where he was.

n‘This is Westminister… I’d have appreciated it if they left me back in King’s cross.’

n“Oh well.”

nXavier quickly got to running in search of a place to hide.
