Chapter 18

n“Was it always this cold on the underground rails?” Xavier asked as he leapt over the boarding gates.

nA smell of blood permeated the air as the lights around him flashed repeatedly on and off.

nThe walls were covered in dry blood and it was freezing.

n“Being trapped down here in the middle of a vampire apocalypse… Anyone would be **ed.” He muttered as he looked around.

nAll the blood made sense, but something seemed off.

nThe only thing around were dead corpses.

nThere wasn’t a single living thing or person moving in sight.

n“Well if there’s nothing to bother me, that’s fine.” Xavier muttered as his dark eyes turned a bright crimson red.

nHe looked at the map on the other side of the room with his superior sight. He could observe the smallest of details.

n‘Let’s see… I’m at Westminster which is central. Sangrea is searching west and south and I’m searching North and east…’

nThe map showed lines and patterns as well as the platforms Xavier needed to reach east London. He planned to leave North for last.

nVictoria Line.

nWalthamstow Central.

nEast London.

n“Victoria line for east London, huh… And to get to the Victoria line, I need to go one stop from the Jubilee line to green park.”

nJubilee Line.

nGreen Park.

n–

nXavier jumped over another boarding gate before walking down the underground stairs once more. As he followed the signs, he eventually found himself approaching the underground tracks of the Jubilee platform.

nWestminister’s station did not have a Victoria line running through it, so he couldn’t go directly to the Victoria line. In order to change to the Victoria line, he needed to go through the tunnel on top of the tracks.

n‘Argh… England’s train rail system is so long and complex.’ Xavier thought to himself.

n“One stop usually takes a few minutes through metro, walking shouldn’t take too long if I run.” He muttered.

n‘The journey ahead of me will take a lot of walking but it’s fine… I can just keep trying over and over again.’

nRewind: Level 1.

nReturn to a set point in time.

n“No matter how long it takes… No matter how much suffering I have to go through… I’ll save you all. I promise.” Xavier muttered to himself before jumping onto the train tracks.

nJust as he had expected, the side platforms were completely empty.

nThere were only corpses around, did that mean that everyone underground had died?

n“It’s surprise the train tracks are still in good shape, I thought a train would have crashed into here or something.” Xavier muttered as he began walking down the tracks and into the tunnel.

nInside the tunnel, there was not a speck of light to be seen.

nFortunately for Xavier, he had his vampire eyes, so he was able to adapt quickly.

n‘I just need to keep walking straight ahead until I reach the next platform… Then I’ll change over to Vict-‘

nA shiver swept down Xavier’s spine as his eyes widened. There was something dangerous hiding in the shadows of the tunnels above him.

nUpon looking up, his eyes found countless sleeping ghouls lying on the ceiling of the tunnel.

nEven though their chests were inflating and deflating, they didn’t make a sound as they slept, yet the scent was so strong that it was almost impossible to ignore.

n‘Three… Eight… Twelve… Nineteen…!!’

n‘How many are there!?’

nXavier’s heart sank as he watched the sleeping bodies of ghouls descend the tunnel.

n‘I have to walk through this without waking any of them up…?’

n‘Fuck me…’ Xavier cursed.

n–

n–

n–

nXavier: I’m heading underground, I won’t get a signal down here so I won’t be able to talk.

nXavier: Make sure you sure West and South London properly, if you find anything let me know.

nSangrea: I’ll let you know.. 3

nThe happy expression on Sangrea’s face suddenly changed into a concerned one as she read the text again.

n“Underground… Wouldn’t that be a bad idea? Much like Vampires, Ghouls are greatly harmed by the sunlight so they like resting in dark places.”

n“The sun isn’t out… Rather, hasn’t been out for quite a few days now so it makes sense for many to be outside…”

n“But that won’t stop the majority from going to places where’s there’s no sunlight at all… Somewhere Underground for example…”

nAfter realizing how dangerous it was, her heart sank and her bones trembled with dread.

n“Ah-Ah… I-I have to go back and stop him!”

nShe quickly called his number, only to be put on voicemail.

nThe number you are trying to reach is not available, here is a message from the caller if you wish to contact them.

nHey, This is Xavier. If you’re calling me and I haven’t picked up it’s because I’m busy right now.

nBut don’t worry about me, I’ll return your call as soon as possible.

nAnd just like that, the voicemail ended.

nIn the midst of running over to where he was, Sangerea suddenly got out of the stance she was in as her shadow moved up her legs.

nAfter clenching her fist, she turned her head in another direction.

n-Memory

n“Don’t worry about that… Until I kill every last one of the Vampires who hurt my family, I won’t die.” Xavier reassured her.

n-Memory End.

n“What am I doing?” She asked before facepalming herself. “Have faith in your husband… If he told you he won’t die, then he won’t… Instead, focus on the task that he gave you.”

n“I’ll search west and south to find any leads I can while my servants searches for the Vampire camps… What kind of wife would I be if I couldn’t even do that all because I’m a little worried?”

nShe let go of her clenched fist before sighing.

n“Have some faith in him…”

n–

n–

n–

nXavier treaded through the tunnels whilst making as little sound as possible.

nSo that they wouldn’t be awakened by the scent of his drenched clothes once the water from them soaked off, he covered himself in the blood of some of the Ghoul corpses lying about.

nWith every step he could feel himself growing more nervous as he went further inside.

nXavier wasn’t afraid of death, but the thought of being eaten alive, it certainly wasn’t pleasant.

nIf he made one misstep, he’d possibly have the most gruesome and painful death thus far.

nSo he was careful, he took all factors into account and made sure not to do anything to make a sound.

nStill, while he was walking, he couldn’t help but wonder.

n‘Just how much XP would I be able to make by killing them all?’

n‘Status.’

nXavier couldn’t believe his eyes as he stared at his status.

nThe gains were so incredibly high, he was almost four times stronger than when it all began. In just a few days he’d grown this much just from drinking Sangrea’s blood, and levelling up.

nBut still.

nXavier looked up at the ceiling. The many Ghouls could be seen resting.

n‘Even I can’t take on a horde as big as that in such an enclosed space.’ He thought to himself.

n‘But if worse comes to worst…’

nXavier placed his hand on the handle of his Vampire sword, on it there was a button which would activate the strengthening abilities in exchange for his blood.

n‘I’ll waltz my way out of here and kill all of them no matter how hard it may be.’

n
