Chapter 7

n
nWith the raindrops crashing against his eyes and washing away his tears, Xavier kicked off the ground, leaping in the pink haired Vampire’s direction.
nAs a result of the sword’s power, the wounds in his body slowly closed off. In order to prevent further blood loss from the wound, it clotted the area.
nTo absorb as much of Xavier’s blood as possible, the sword did this. Because of this, Xavier didn’t have to worry about his organs spilling or massive blood loss during the fight.
nAfter the fight he knew he would surely die, whether from the sword or from killing the other vampires and ghouls.
nPink-haired Vampire charged at Xavier with a visibly angry expression.
nWithin seconds, they were right before one another.
nThe first move was made by Xavier, who swung horizontally at the vampire.
nBy slidding past Xavier, he avoided the swing and got behind him.
n*WHAM!*
nA kick slammed into the side of the Vampire’s face mid-slide, widening his eyes.
nThe boy went rolling to the side, only for Xavier to suddenly leap over to him and thrust his sword down at his head.
n“Predictable…” Xavier muttered.
n*Pierce*
nXavier missed by just a hair, instead piercing the ground.
nWith this opportunity the Vampire used one arm to push himself off the ground before kicking at Xavier’s face.
nAlthough Xavier dove to avoid the kick, he only brought himself closer to the Vampire’s arm as the vampire had intended.
n“Burn!!”
n*BOOM!*
nXavier was struck by flames emanating from the Vampire’s arm, even if it was weakened by the rain, at least some damage should have resulted with how much more powerful the vampire had become.
nTo the Vampire’s surprise, a blade emerged from the flames and headed straight for his heart.
nMid-air without footing to retreat or dodge, the Vampire felt chills run down his spine.
n*Pierce*
nXavier widened his eyes as the sword did not pierce the vampire’s heart, but rather his arm. At the last moment, he moved his arm to block it.
nThe sword penetrated the arm, but only did so for a few inches into the Vampire’s chest, not reaching its heart.
nThe desperate face of Xavier emerged from the flames as he tried to force the sword further inside. Despite severe burns on parts of his neck and face, he didn’t stop.
n‘This **er… What the hell is wrong with him!?’
nThe Vampire was being held up by the sword in his arm and chest, preventing him from falling to the ground or fleeing. Xavier used this opportunity to his advantage.
n*Leap!*
nKicking off the ground, he leapt over to a nearby wall with the vampire.
n*CRASH!*
nThe Vampire’s back slammed into the wall, partially cracking it. From that moment forward, Xavier began to push the sword deeper and deeper, getting it closer and closer to the vampire’s heart.
nInformation.
nA vampire’s heart and head are its weak points. They are susceptible to healing from any type of wound.
n“You’re really going for my heart, aren’t you?” The Vampire asked with a grin out as his entire body ignited in flames.
nRain mixed with the Vampire’s scorching hot flames created a steam cloud as he kicked Xavier with his long legs.
n*SWOOSH!*
nIn order to avoid the attack, Xavier lean as far back as he could before countering with his own kick to the Vampire’s steamy chin.
nWith enough power from the kick, he was able to pull out the sword and escape. Although the heel of the shoe was scorched slightly, he sank into the steam around them with a groan.
nWhy did he retreat when he had him at the edge? Because that position was exactly what the Vampire wanted, Xavier was one hit away from dying.
nThe Vampire’s movement was limited by the impalement but so was Xavier’s. Thus, he took a step back and changed his strategy.
nThe sword continues to consume your blood.
nWhile his figure was lost in the steam, the Vampire backed against the wall gazed left and right in search of this.
nIt was clear that Xavier was going to attack him by surprise by hiding himself behind the steam. He was also masked by the rain.
nIn spite of this…
nWith a wide grin on his face, the Vampire who was backed against the wall so Xavier wouldn’t attack from his blind spot suddenly turned his head to the right.
n*Step!* *Step!* *Step!* *Step!*
n‘That dumbass… I can hear his footsteps and heartbeat! He’s coming from… There!’
nWhile thrusting his hand to the right, the Vampire’s arm began to glow brightly once more.
nJust as he had expected, Xavier emerged from the steam directly into his arm with a surprised look on his face.
n‘It’s over, di- Huh?’
nFlame Manipulation: Ignition Burst.
n‘Where’s the sword?’ He wondered as flames erupted from his hand.
nXavier’s arm and veins returned to normal, but his speed was much slower than before as he leaned inwards and to the side in an attempt to evade.
nHis sword was no longer with him so he wasn’t fast enough to fully escape the flames.
n‘Why would he let go of the-‘
n*Pierce*
nIn the following second, a white sword with a glowing jewel in it’s pommel impaled his head from both sides, interrupting the Vampire.
n‘Huh?’
nAs he fell to his knees, he wondered.
n‘What’s happening…?’
nAs Xavier’s scorched figure approached him, the Vampire’s face had the most confused expression. Burns covered his arms and shoulders.
nA large portion of his white shirt, dyed red from his blood, had burned off, revealing his bare skinny and small chest. Because of all the running and excessive movement, his professional black pants were torn between the thighs.
nDespite having been torn and ruined, he finally accomplished his goal.
nHis long-awaited moment had finally arrived. The moment where he could look down upon the Vampire.
n*Grasp*
nAfter grasping the sword’s grip, Xavier pulled it out of the vampire’s brain. In the next second, he slashed off the Vampire’s arm.
n“GAAH!” As his other severed arm was kicked away, the vampire groaned in pain.
n‘Ah… I see now… The whole time… I was in the palm of his hands.’
nXavier had thrown the blade through the steam in the direction of the vampire, before leaping to the opposite side and attacking him from there to distract him.
n‘I lost this fight the moment I underestimated him… The moment I underestimated my prey.’
n*Slash* *Slash!*
nAfter that, Xavier mercilessly cut off his legs with a single swing.
nThe legs were severed, so the vampire could not run away.
n“AAAARGH!! GOD DAMN IT HURTS YOU FUCKER!” The vampire cursed at him.
n*Kick* *Kick*
nXavier kicked those very same legs into the distance. He didn’t know it before, but the Vampire’s limbs would instantly close after being severed, preventing major blood loss.
n“It hurts…?” Xavier asked as he tilted his head to the side with a confused look.
n“Yeah!! It-”
nHis pupils dilated, and he felt chills run down his spine as his bones trembled from dreadful fear. As soon as Xavier heard of his pain, he smiled for the first time.
n‘W-Why is he smiling…? I-I knew it… T-This guy is crazy.. I… I need to get out of here!!’
nA burst of pain pierced through the Vampire’s body as he placed his mouth in position to whistle.
nXavier pressed his sword into the vampire’s heart
n“AAAAAAH!!!”
n“I’m glad… You know… After all those deaths, I began to wonder… What would be the most painful way to kill him and torture him for what he did? …To make him feel what I felt… To think that you can feel a fraction of it…”
n“AAAARGH!!! S-STOPP!!!!”
n“Thank you so much…”
nAs he buried the sword further into the Vampire’s chest, Xavier mumbled, “Thank you for telling me it hurts…” tears streaming down his face.
nThe Vampire’s body began to light up in flames, the deeper Xavier’s sword went, the further the flames spread, he was approaching death.
n“W-Wait!! STOP!!! YO-YOU DONT HAVE TO KILL ME!!! IM JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS!!! GAAH!”
n“I’M JUST A VAMPIRE COMMONER! I WAS ONCE A HUMAN JUST LIKE YOU!!! I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING TO YOU SO PLEASE!!”
nThe Vampire began to plead for it’s life, even after all the deaths it had caused. Still, he pleaded shamelessly for his life in his final moments.
n“Yeah… I know you didn’t do anything to me… I also know you’re not responsible for what happened at home… I also know that you were once human.”
nOnce Xavier began to speak, the vampire had a fleeting moment of hope that he might chicken out and spare him.
n“But that doesn’t matter… I said it didn’t I? That I’d kill you… All of you… Every last one…” Xavier muttered.
n“AAAAARGH!!!” He screamed out in pain.
n‘Oh **… This guy… I’m actually going to die…’
n“Thirteen times…”
n‘I can’t die like this!! Someone… Anyone…!’
nThen, as if a glint of hope appeared, he saw two other Vampires staring at him through the gap in the gym wall. The steam had mostly subsided, so they were able to see him.
nThey could save him if it was them.
n“HEY!! COME HELP ME!!! HE’S GOING TO KILL ME!!! DO SOMETHING ALREADYY!!!!” He shamelessly begged.
nHowever, the two Vampires walked away into the gym, leaving him with nothing but despair.
n“HEY!! WHERE ARE YOU GOING!? COME BACK HERE!! THIS HUMAN IS-”
n*Pierce*
n*Throb*
nThe Vampire’s mouth was gushing with blood as he slowly looked down to realize that the Blade had gone straight through his heart.
n‘Is this how it ends… To a human…? Right in the beginning of the war?’
nThe last thing he saw before death was a sight he’d had never been able to forget, Xavier looking down on him with a disgusted expression.
n‘D-Don’t look at me like that… Don’t-‘
nThat was the last thing the Vampire thought before he disintegrated, leaving only his uniform behind.
nYou killed a Vampire!
n
