nChapter 5 – A Sudden Space (驚現空間)

nJing Yunzhao glanced at that pair of old and young and smiled cynically before walking away from them.

n“Where are you going?!” Qiao Weimin said angrily, gripping tightly onto her arm.

n

n

n“You wanted me to drink it, right? Then I’ll drink it!” Jing Yunzhao said coldly as she shook Qiao Weimin’s hand off. She walked back to her room. She looked at the bowl of cold porridge and swallowed everything in one gulp.

nAn upset stomach wouldn’t kill her. Even if she were to feel sick on Monday, she’ll take the test no matter what.

n“What an unlikable temperament. You really need to be beaten every day!” Qiao Weimin said, satisfied. He looked at her and then went back to the couch to continue watching his TV. But Qiao Hongye walked forward. She seemed apologetic. But before she could even enter the room, Jing Yunzhao slammed the door in her face and locked it.

nJing Yunzhao’s body was shaking; her eyes were fogged with hatred.

n

n

nShe was too weak. Don’t even mention revenge. She couldn’t even protect herself.

nJing Yunzhao sighed, sitting on her bed, and pulled out the jade pendant hanging on her neck.

nThis had been with her since she was little. The design was a simple gourd and below the gourd was the word “Jing.” The jade looked as if it had been through quite a few years.

nThis jade should’ve been taken by the Qiao’s long time ago. But she later heard from Qiao Hongye that the fortune-teller said that jades contain spirituality. A jade that’s been with her for years can help fend off evil even more. If she were to lose it, don’t even mention fending off evil for Qiao Hongye and Qiao Zizhou, it might even bring evil to those around her.

n

n

nIf it weren’t for the words of that fortune-teller, the jade pendant would’ve been pawned by Ye Qin and Qiao Weimin long time ago.

nJing Yunzhao looked at the pendant, almost in a daze. She had some questions about her biological parents, but then she laughed at herself.

nIf her biological parents really cared about her, they wouldn’t have thrown her away.

nJust when she slid the pendant back into her clothes, Jing Yunzhao felt a sudden pain in her head. It felt as if something was about to explode. She held her head tightly, but the pain soon disappeared.

nShe raised her head and saw a scenery different than before.

n“Where am I?!” Jing Yunzhao said, panicking.

n

n

nHeavy fog surrounded her. There was a well beside her. It seemed old, almost ancient. And next to the well was a dragon statue. A string of blue-colored water was flowing from its mouth. It seemed like the water was the water in the well.

n“I’ve waited for so many years. Finally, an heir has appeared…” In the midst of emptiness, an old man’s voice rang

nJing Yunzhao’s heart jumped. “Who’s there?!”

n“No need to be frightened, little girl. Turn the wheel of the stone table behind you and you will be able to see me,” said the old man.

nJing Yunzhao was anxious, but this voice sounded so kind, so soothing. And she didn’t know why but she felt a sense of familiarity towards that strange space.

nFor some reason, she began walking towards that table of stone. The table was not very big, but it had a strange engraving. At the center of the table was indeed a turnable wheel. Jing Yunzhao breathed in and reached out her hand to turn it.

nShe only saw a faint figure appear from the wheel, but that was enough to make her jump.

nThe figure looked otherworldly. He seemed affable. “Mister, you are…”

n

n

n“If you were able to enter this space in the jade, then you must be my descendant, a descendant of Jing. Little girl, what is your name?” Said the old man after he observed Jing Yunzhao.

n
