Chapter 89 - The Entrustment of Sibis

nIn the principal’s office, Sibis sat behind his desk, while the others stood in silence.

n“Vincent, where have you been these past four months? How could you have vanished without a trace?” asked Sibis.

n

n

nSibis stared straight into Vincent’s eyes like two sharp lasers.

nVincent smiled bitterly. His mind was racing.

n“Teacher, I had no idea that it had been four months. In my mind, only 20 days had passed.”

n“When I found the Undying Crow egg, I also found a box. After opening the box, I entered a strange place. The place had always been bright and sunny. I had no idea how much time had passed. I had to put in a lot of effort to escape,” said Vincent.

n

n

nVincent told half-truths about what happened in the paradise illusion in order to not arouse suspicion.

nSibis frowned after hearing what Vincent said. It was the first time he had heard of such a place.

nAlthough he had many doubts, it was clear that since the appearance of the Black Holes, the entire world had been in chaos. There were a lot of things that could not be explained.

n“Since you feel fine, then go back and rest. I have chosen the members of the first team. They are everyone who is present right now.”

n

n

n“The second team is currently undergoing special training. When the special training is over, they will come and pick you up. You can set off tomorrow,” said Sibis.

nEveryone knew who the candidates for the first team were. When they heard what Sibis said, they all nodded in agreement.

nVincent, on the other hand, did not expect to know everyone on the first team.

n“I’ll repeat it once more. Your mission is very dangerous. You can lose your lives at any time. If you want to withdraw, please voice out now. Once you leave Blazing City, you won’t have the chance to back out anymore,” said Sibis.

nSibis looked at everyone. He nodded in satisfaction when no one refused.

n“Alright, everyone can head back now. Vincent, stay behind. I still have some things left to explain to you,” said Sibis.

n

n

nEveryone except Vincent turned around to leave. Vincent remained in his original spot.

nSibis was sharp. He looked at Vincent and said in a calm and firm tone, “You have advanced.”

nVincent was stunned for a moment. He knew that it was impossible for him to hide the fact that he had leveled up. He then nodded.

n“Only you and Teacher Chris know the fundamental reason for going out this time. During the mission, if there are any uncertainties, you can discuss it with Teacher Chris. As for the God-Slaying Plan, don’t tell anyone about it, understand?” said Sibis.

nSibis was not surprised by Vincent’s realm. For a person who has four S-Class superpowers, it was not surprising for him to level up at any time.

nVincent nodded solemnly. He knew very well how important the God-Slaying Plan was.

nHe had thought about it a lot when he was in the paradise illusion.

nAlthough the God-Slaying Plan was a very flawed plan, it had prolonged the lives of the human race. It provided the human race with time. This gave the opportunity for more superpowered users to emerge.

n

n

nIn regard to the plan itself, it can be argued that it was also good training for those who participated.

nThey were chosen out of millions and were given the chance to fight against powerful monsters. If they succeed, they could grow even faster.

nEven if the 10,000 races of the Black Hole suddenly appeared and started a battle with the human race, it was not impossible for the chosen ones to fight against them.

nOf course, this would only happen if the chosen ones were still alive.

n“Last but not least, I need to remind you of this. Even if everyone in this plan dies, you must come back alive! Do you understand me?” said Sibis.

nVincent was stunned by what Sibis had said. He was reluctant to concur.

n“Teacher, do you mean that even if this plan fails, I must come back alive?” asked Vincent.

n“Are you speaking nonsense? Remember, you must come back alive!”

nSibis became even more confusing. His tone was forceful.

n“Teacher…”

n“Get out! Get out!” shouted Sibis.

nSibis suddenly flew into a rage and pointed at the door.

nVincent bowed deeply at Sibis. He then turned around and walked out of the principal’s office.

n

n

nSibis watched as Vincent gradually disappeared from his sight. The reluctance and heartache in his eyes increased.

nThe principal’s office door closed. Sibis felt like a deflated balloon. He collapsed on his chair.

nHe took out the old group photo once again. His hands were trembling.

n“Ares, Athena, was it right or wrong for me to choose Vincent? Will you blame me for not taking good care of your children…?” asked Sibis.

nVincent returned to the dormitory and threw himself on the bed. It had been a long time. He was in need of a break.

nToo many things had happened during this period of time. He had experienced too much. He was physically and mentally exhausted.

nVincent felt like he might get sick if he did not rest.

nAs for his friends, he did not want to pay any attention to them for the time being. He only wanted to stay alone in his room quietly.

nHowever, the heavens did not fulfill his wishes. Not long after he laid down, he heard a loud bang.

nHe flipped over and sat up on his bed with a vigilant look on his face. He was stunned for a moment but then later revealed a bitter smile.

nD*mn it! He had forgotten that his roommate was a guy who did not have any talent but had an interest in making psionic equipment.

nHe opened his door to take a look. When he opened his door, black smoke surrounded him instantly. Vincent felt like he was choking from the smoke and started to cough.

n“Nabil, what are you doing?” shouted Vincent.

nVincent choked so hard that tears started to fill his eyes.

nBlack smoke billowed out of Nabil’s room. Two people covered in soot walked out.

n“Hey! Vincent, you’re back! I’m researching weapons with Nabil. Do you want to join me?”

nVincent waved at one of them.

nHe stared at them for a long time but could not recognize who the other person was.

nNabil was easy to recognize. His thick glasses were too unique.

n“You are?”

nVincent was rummaging through his mind. He could not figure it out.

n“Me! Swire!”

nAs Swire spoke, he used his superpower to reveal his identity.

nVincent looked at the wings behind Swire and widened his eyes in disbelief.

nSwire was hanging out with Nabil?

n“You’ve been researching psionic weapons for Nabil?” asked Vincent in disbelief.

nSwire nodded and retracted his superpower.

nNabil revealed an awkward smile. His white teeth were very eye-catching since he was covered in black soot.

n“I’m sorry, Vincent. I have failed again. Sorry for disturbing you,” said Nabil.

nVincent waved his hand to show that he was fine. However, his head hurt after looking at the house filled with black smoke.

nHe was considering whether to change dormitories. Living with the two of them would be irresponsible.

nIt was hard to imagine what the dormitory would look like in the future if the two of them worked together officially.

n“Vincent! Come with us! It’s so fun! I just realized that the things I used to play with are really weak.”

nSwire was still trying to invite Vincent over to hang out.

nIn his opinion, if there were good and fun things, he would naturally want to share them with his good friends.

n“I’m good! You two should be careful!”

nVincent turned around and went back to his room. He was speechless.

nAfter seeing Vincent disinterested, Swire just shrugged. He did not want to force him any further. Swire turned to look at Nabil and said in a serious tone, “I think that we shouldn’t have increased the psionic ore just now. We should lessen the ore.”

nNabil nodded in agreement.

n“I think you’re right,” said Nabil.

nAfter listening to their conversation through the door, Vincent could not help but shiver.

n“If we encounter a Monster Horde next time, perhaps these two guys will be of great use,” muttered Vincent.

nHe wanted the two of them to study psionic equipment outside the city wall. They could blow up a lot of monsters at the same time.

nOn second thought, he felt like it would be inhumane. He shook his head and gave up on the idea.

nVincent returned to his bed. However, he did not feel like resting anymore. Instead, he channeled his psionic power and entered a state of cultivation.

n
