Chapter 34

n

n

n

nThe scenery outside the window kept changing along the way. They were approaching the palace.

nLifa looked at Rennes expectantly and said, “Tomorrow is the New Year, Lord Rennes. Why don’t you come to the palace for dinner tonight. We haven’t had dinner together for a long time!”

n

n

n“Sure!”

nRennes smiled and nodded.

nThe carriage had arrived at the palace. He got off the carriage and walked towards his own residence.

nThat night.

n

n

nThe sky was hidden behind fine snow. The entire capital was brightly lit. Tomorrow was the New Year. People ran out of their homes and to the bustling streets and taverns to celebrate with each other.

nChildren squatted in the snow and had snow fights. Some built snowmen.

nThe snow silently fell, and the populace looked forward to the arrival of the New Year amid a harmonious atmosphere.

nMeanwhile, on the capital’s city wall, a few soldiers were huddled together and chatting with each other. Two of them were eating steaming hot food.

n

n

nIt was the New Year’s Eve dinner that their families had specifically prepared for them before their shift.

n“The kingdom is filled with hope now. It’s all thanks to Lord Rennes!”

n“The port is under construction in the south, and potato-farming has spread in the north.”

n“And 300,000 new troops will march to the front line in the spring of next year. These are all major events that have a place in the history books!”

n“Yeah, I’ve never looked forward to the arrival of the New Year so much!”

nA blue-haired soldier who was eating steamed meat next to them and listening in to his comrades’ conversation swallowed a large piece of meat in a hurry. He pointed to the sky and exclaimed, “Hey, look, what’s that white light on the horizon?”

n

n

n“What white light?”

n…

nEveryone looked in the direction he was pointing at and saw that in the distant horizon, amidst the darkness of the night, there was an exceptionally dazzling ray of white light.

nIt cut through the sky at an unbelievable pace, leaving behind a long streak of white flames. That was the result of the atmosphere being burned at a high temperature.

nThe soldiers’ eyes slowly widened as they stared at the ray of white light in shock.

nThat was because the white light seemed to be heading for the capital.

n“Heavens, is that a meteorite?”

n“Get off the city wall! It’s coming here!”

n

n

n“Run, quick!”

n..

nThe distance between the white light spot and the capital was rapidly shrinking.

nBy the time everyone could react, a two-meter-tall figure had already crashed onto the eastern side of the capital’s city wall from the sky.

n“Boom!”

nThe impact resulted in a terrifying explosion, leaving a huge hole in the city wall.

nThat section of the city wall started to collapse. A few soldiers ran for their life towards the intact part of the city wall.

nAlthough the capital’s city walls were not as sturdy as the steel city walls of Iron Armor City in the north, it was still far stronger than the city walls of ordinary cities.

nFortunately, the collision this time did not take place in a spot that had a large crowd, but more towards the outskirts.

nThe white light rushed into the capital city of Noah with unstoppable momentum.

nDozens of houses were destroyed, and the surroundings were left in a mess.

nAlthough most of the people in the capital had gone to the center of the city, there were still quite a number of people who saw the white light.

nThe crowd cried out. Some of the braver ones were even approaching the landing site, wanting to investigate the truth.

n

n

nEveryone thought it was an enemy attack, so almost as soon as it happened, a guard who was patrolling the streets had rushed to the capital’s clock tower.

nClang!

nClang!

nClang!

n..

nThe bell chimed non-stop, and the people finally reacted.

nTheir enthusiasm for the new year was quickly fading away.

nAt the landing site, the dust from the explosion slowly settled. Not only did some of the bolder citizens not leave the scene, they were even moving closer to get a better look.

nThey saw a dazzling light, a pair of wings that had countless feathers growing out of them, and a pair of breathtaking eyes.

nAfter the white light slowly faded away, the onlookers finally saw what it contained. One of the onlookers exclaimed with a quivering voice and a dazed look in his eyes, “That’s…an angel!”

n“An angel?”

nOnce the news that the mysterious creature was an angel spread, it immediately caused a huge commotion in the crowd.

nAn angel had always been a symbol of something sacred and untouchable.

nAngels were favored by the heaven and earth from the moment they were born in the Sacred Pool. Not only were they born with a natural affinity for many different natural elements, they were also talented in the rare light element.

nAngels could use light element magic from the moment they were born.

nIt could be said that every adult Archangel was a natural-born Archmage, a legendary existence.

nBut why would an angel appear in this place?

nBased on her dim eyes and the pale golden blood seeping out from the wings on her back, she appeared to be pretty gravely wounded.

nAnd from the looks of it, her situation seemed to be getting worse.

nThat was because she was now sitting on the ground, seemingly unable to even stand up. Even when some mortals were tentatively approaching her, she showed no reaction at all.

nIt must be known that angels were very arrogant. They would never allow anyone to invade their privacy, much less mortals.

nThe news about the angel rapidly spread through the capital.

nNo one had ever seen an angel. They had only heard of the existence of a creature like that in myths and legends.

nTherefore, more and more people headed towards the eastern district.

nThe place soon became congested with traffic.

nThe guards had to rush over and forcibly evacuate the crowd.

nAt the end of the road that had guards stationed on both sides, Rennes and Lifa finally arrived.

n“Lord Rennes, have you ever seen an angel before?”

nUnder the respectful gazes of the surrounding people, Rennes and Lifa walked forward. Lifa looked at Rennes and asked curiously.

n“I have!” Rennes nodded.

nIn the game “Light of Glory”, not only had he seen angels before, he had even married a female player from the angel race.

nIn a sense, he had even had sex with an angel before!

nHowever, that was in the game, and this was reality. A screen was very different from reality.

nRennes thought it was especially true when he saw the real angel. He was shocked by her beauty and holiness.

nAn angel was indeed the most perfect creature.

nOf course, it only surprised him a little.

nAn angel!

nAccording to the books of this world, angels mostly lived on Mount Paradise and the Paradise Islands in the Eastern Sea.

nThey pretty much never showed themselves in other places. Something like this had not happened in the hundreds of years since the Noah Kingdom was founded.

nIn other words, something must have happened for this angel to crash land in the Noah Kingdom.

nNot long after, a soldier captain walked out and said, “Reporting, Your Majesty. I was standing guard on the city wall when I discovered a spot of white light in the sky. At first, we all thought it was a meteorite, but it turned out to be an angel!”

nAfter saying that, the soldier took a deep breath. There was still fear in his eyes. The angel’s sudden descent had obviously given him some bad memories.

n“From the sky?”

nLifa looked up at the sky. She waved the captain away.

n“How should we deal with this angel, Lord Rennes?”

n
