n333 Waking Up

nWhen I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a blurred ceiling. .

nWait, it wasn’t the ceiling that was blurred, but rather my vision. I tried to move my arm to rub my eyes but found it hard to do.

n“S-Sir Will…?!”

nA familiar voice echoed, making me turn to my side, finding a blurry figure of a brown girl.

n“… Mi…va…”

nI tried to call her name, but my mouth was extremely dry. It was as if I just got out of a desert; my throat parched and my tongue was stiff as hell. I couldn’t tell exactly what Minerva was doing, but from her silhouette, she must be watching over me from my side.

n“Please wait; I’ll call Goddess Blanc immediately!”

nAfter saying so, she quickly left through the door based on the banging sound I heard. Of course, as I couldn’t move, see, or talk properly, I had no choice but to wait for her return.

nLess than a minute later, the sound of rushing footsteps echoed as they approached the room. The number was probably more than two, judging from how many pairs of steps I could discern.

n*BAM!*

n“Will!”

nThe first one to enter had a pure white visage. Judging from the voice, it must be Goddess Blanc. I could see her move quickly to my side, touching my wrist.

n“… Good. It seems like you’re fine now. Just in case, let me cast a basic heal on you.”

nAs she spoke, a ray of golden light fell over my body. As soon as it faded, I could feel my parched throat and my stiff tongue returning to normal. My blurry vision turned clear like magic, and my body, which hadn’t responded to any orders before, could now twitch a little.

n“Thanks, Blanc.”

nI said, giving her my thanks. I had no idea how I got here, but judging from the point where my memory was cut off, I guess this is the result of me going past my limits once more.

n“Right, what happened to Noir? Did we win…?”

nAlthough it was easy to guess that we defeated Noir, seeing as we’re all still alive, I had no recollection of how it ended. For some reason, even though Igni’s skill should only borrow my future self’s power, my memory was limited up to the point where I successfully activated it.

nIt was as if my future self had taken over control of my body!

n“You don’t remember? It was you who killed Noir.”

nBlanc said it plainly.

nAs she was about to tell me how the fight ended, Minerva finally entered the room with Hekate right behind her. For some reason, I could see that Hekate’s energy level increased, almost reaching the 8th stage now, more than what Minerva had.

n“Wait, how long have I been out?”

nIt’s impossible to improve that much in such a short time. Feeling a little bit left behind, I quickly asked, upon which Goddess Blanc smiled bitterly.

n“You had been asleep for over a month now. Today is the 50th day, and finally, you managed to wake up from your coma.”

n“A month?!”

nI scanned my body, noticing the changes that I couldn’t deny. My arms, previously muscular and fit, now looked emaciated. I could guess how my upper body would look, judging from that poor sight alone.

nOn my left arm, something like an IV drip, or dextrose, was attached using a thick needle. Such a thing wasn’t common in this world, so it must be Ember’s doing. Did she recreate it based on my vague stories?

nAfter a few moments, I finally settled down. I mean, there’s no use in panicking about how long I’ve been asleep.

n“Right, it was Fina’s idea to train ourselves. Like me, she’s also nearing the point where 09:55

nshe can evolve.”

nAfter she cast another heal on me, Goddess Blanc then left the room, letting us have some privacy. Minerva and Hekate looked at me worriedly, but I simply smiled, not letting them catch my unease.

n“So, Hekate, what happened for you to get stronger while I was asleep?”

nHaving nothing much to discuss, I decided to simply break the ice with simple topics. Hekate smiled wryly, as if not expecting me to notice such detail, and explained.

n“During the last battle against God Noir, I realized how powerless I was.”

nHer expression was filled with depression for a short moment but was quickly overshadowed by a fierce light and a confident glint in her eyes.

n“So, during the period that you were unconscious, I used it to increase my power, to be more useful if ever there’s a next time!”

n“I see… Good work.”

nI wanted to pat her head, praising her efforts, but I still couldn’t move much to my annoyance. Instead, I made a mental note to praise her later and give her a reward.

n“Right, it was Fina’s idea to train ourselves. Like me, she’s also nearing the point where she can evolve.”

nAfter that, while waiting for the others to come, Minerva and Hekate took turns filling me in on the details of what happened while I was asleep. Apparently, the kingdom was running as is, with Yu Na acting as if she were under the king’s orders.

nThe word about how the entire Royal Capital was destroyed, or how the Royal Family was completely wiped, was kept a secret from the populace. Still, the other kingdoms seemed to have realized that the current kingdom was weakened, taking advantage of it and trying to take a slice of the pie.

nStill, with the God tamers protecting the borders, nothing much was happening.

n“Also, due to Noir’s fall, the Demon Tamers have been acting rampant.”

nMinerva added with a slight frown.

n“It seems that after losing their leader, they became nothing but a ragtag of lawbreakers.”

n“Sounds terrible…”

nI placed my hand on my chin, thinking about the matter regarding the Demon Tamers. They had always been a spontaneous bunch, but now that they lost Noir, their leader, and the Twelve Zodiacs, it seems like they no longer function as a group.

n*Tap!* *Tap!* *Tap!*

nAs I was lost in thought, the sound of footsteps approaching was heard once more. Judging from the familiar aura, I could quickly tell who the owners were. I sat up, smiling brightly, ready to welcome everyone with a cheerful visage.
