Chapter 378 A Ring for Everyone
After Ember and Fang’s rings, the next one was Igni’s.
For her, I made the ring itself have heat resistance measures placed to avoid breaking or expanding from the heat coming out of her body. This was done by enchanting the red ruby embedded in the ring with the Heat Resistance skill. It took quite an effort, but I succeeded nonetheless.
For the design, other than the usual pair name on the underside, the outer part was filled with flame reliefs. The design looked more tribal than I expected, but it should be fine. It does include Igni’s signature element in it, after all.
After Igni, Fina’s was next. For her, I selected an imperial topaz as the centerpiece, as it was closer to the color of her hair. The adjustment of the size was done quickly before working on the etchings.
For her ring, I chose a relatively simpler design, taking from her succubus nature, going with various designs of hearts, along with a bat-like wing design, a horn, and an arrow-tipped tail.
For Judy and Yorm, even though they weren’t attached to me yet, I made the ring’s relief the defining feature of their races. For example, Yorm had scales and fangs as relief, while Judy had spiders and webs. The only difference between their rings and the others was that I didn’t use a gem on their rings. It wasn’t discrimination, but distinction, alright?
Next up was Minerva’s ring. For her, it was easier, as she had an overall brown color. I matched the gem with a brown diamond, and the relief I made was of feathers, wings, and books representing knowledge. After all, owls and knowledge are usually linked together.
For Hekate, I had a little bit of trouble. There are too few colors to choose from for her, but in the end, to not overlap with Fang’s color, I made hers into a cloudy white agate. The relief I made was reminiscent of her thick neck fur and the wide antennae on top of her head before.
Rather than the intended image, it looked like a relief of a fern-filled forest instead, however… Well, anyway, with that, only one ring remained.
“For Fatima…”
I guess it wouldn’t be hard to think of a relief design. The harder part would be choosing a gem. It was fortunate that I didn’t decide to add the meaning of the stones to my criteria; otherwise, I’d be stuck on choosing for a long time.
In the end, Fatima’s gem ended up as a sky-blue paraiba tourmaline. The reason behind choosing blue? Well… I just felt like it. For the relief, it was guns. I filled the outer loop with guns of various designs until I couldn’t draw more.
“Phew… Done!”
After finishing Fatima’s ring, I turned to look at the time. Earlier, it was still around morning, but now the time was almost hitting 6 p.m. already! I spent too much time on the rings…
“…”
However, in the “since I’m doing it anyway” mood, I decided to make one more ring. It was simpler than the others and lacked the etching on the outer loop, but it still looked quite nice, with a hazel brown smoky quartz as the gem centerpiece.
It didn’t take too much effort to make, so I guess I still have some time to prepare.
After I carefully retrieved the rings, placing them into their own cases, I then placed them back into my Spatial Storage for safekeeping.
*Knock!* *Knock!* *Knock!*
Just as I finished stashing the rings and all the other things, a knock came from the locked door. I quickly ran toward it, turned the lock open, and stepped away. As soon as I did, the door swung inwards, revealing my clones standing in attention, with Yu Na in their middle having a serious expression.
“President Will, your girls are looking for you.”
She only said that much before turning around and leaving. Just as I was wondering who she meant by “girls,” as if taking her place, three girls came in.
“Master, the venue is already set. It’s time to dress you up!”
“Leader, you need to look dashing in this engagement ceremony, not only for us but for the nation’s benefit!”
“My lord, after thorough filtering, we have these clothes for you to choose from. Now, select one!”
Ember, Fang, and Igni pestered me quite enthusiastically. Losing to their enthusiasm, I ended up getting changed by them right then and there. The one I chose was a simple black- .𝒎
and-white suit. After all, it was the one that looked the most “normal” of all the clothes they brought.
After they confirmed that I had finished changing, they did my hair a little before finally leaving in satisfaction. All they said was to come to the venue’s front entrance at 7 p.m. sharp.
Looking at the clock, I still had 45 minutes left, so I decided to meditate by myself first… though I couldn’t seem to stay still. Am I getting nervous now?
Trying to distract myself, I went to the computer and checked out the state of the other units around the country, along with the state of the government offices they were stationed in. It was a slight surprise that everyone was using it quite efficiently.
However, as of now, they’re using it more like a giant pager than an actual computer. They were exchanging short messages with each branch to keep everyone on the same page.
I did hear from Ember that she’s planning to release the next level of the computer in a month. One that was already installed with a proper UI and actually looked like a proper computer.
Such a thing, if spread to the public, would definitely cause a shift in eras straight to the Information Era. However, before that, we first need to finalize the “eyes in the sky” that are still under construction.
“A satellite would be best to spy on other kingdoms, after all.”
I muttered as I leaned on the chair, letting my gaze shift to the clock. Coincidentally, the time just turned 7 p.m. on the dot, so I stood up and straightened my attire one last time before opening a portal straight to the venue of the engagement ceremony.
“Now then, first, we need to shut up the empire b*stards!”
