Chapter 1406 Cursed Gold

nThe book was being updated in real-time with all relevant information, be it about the people holding titles or about other more basic stuff.
n'Where is-'
nHao Xuan skimmed through a couple of pages but as if the book could read his mind, it took control and automatically flipped over to the information he needed.
nAt the very top, it mentioned that the official currency used within the sanctum was something called the 'Cursed Gold' and all the prices he saw were also in it.
nSimply put, Cursed Gold or 'CG' was created when normal gold coins were marked and then 'blessed' by the 'Servants' of each of the Nine, imbuing a very small portion of their energies into it.
nThere was obviously much more included in the process but it could be summarized this way. This was how the sanctum maintained control over its assets.
nGoods and services of all kinds could be exchanged for Cursed Gold by any member of the sanctum but not everyone was allowed to directly buy the Cursed Gold by trading in any one of the hundreds of acceptable currencies.
nThis was an honor given only to a select few powerful individuals or the ones who held notable positions within the sanctum, an honor earned by either hard work or great sacrifice.
nHao Xuan being a Champion of the Nine obviously was included in this roster as well.
nThe rest of the first two pages contained dozens of lists of foreign currencies. These were all the accepted forms of payment allowed within the sanctum and just as he predicted, it contained everything from sacrificed mortal souls to the crystals, ores, and even credits.
nThis was quite a surprise to Hao Xuan since credits were the official currency of the Empire, the largest coalition of mortal kingdoms within the Greater World. The Empire had publically condemned the Old Gods and anyone caught dealing with them would be branded an enemy of the state but...that still didn't stop the credits from rolling in.
nBut even though Cursed Gold was the
"official
" currency of the sanctum, most merchants were allowed to sell their wares for any of the listed currencies, albeit at a much higher rate.
nFor example, one Cursed Gold coin could be exchanged for 20 credits at the moment.
nThat would mean if Hao Xuan wanted to buy that sword costing 83,000 Cursed Gold by exchanging it for credits, it would cost approximately 1.66 million credits.
nBut if he wanted to pay for it directly with credits (without exchanging) then it would cost him around 2 million credits or about 20% more than the listed price in Cursed Gold.
nThis not only gave the members of the sanctum an incentive to work hard and rise through the 'corporate' ladder but also make connections with those who held the power to directly buy Cursed Gold.
nFlipping over to the next two pages he could see how much each of the listed currencies was being exchanged for. And suffice to say, he didn't have any of these currencies on hand at the moment so it was pretty useless information to him.
nBut...the more Hao Xuan looked at the explanation of the Cursed Gold the more intrigued he became by the process.
n'Is there a limit to how much gold one person can buy?'
nJust as he came up with the question the pages started to flip again before slowly stopping at the desired spot.
nThe lowest ranked of the Sanctum could only buy 10,000 Cursed Gold coins per day. This buying limit was moved higher and higher the more accomplished a person became.
nHe, as a Champion, even without any accomplishments could buy up to 500,000 Cursed Gold coins and that amount would only rise with time and effort.
nAn idea started to form in Hao Xuan's mind as he looked at the numbers so he quickly moved on to the next question.
nlightsΝοvel 'Is there unlimited Cursed Gold?' he asked and the book answered.
nAnd it was just as he expected. There was a finite amount of Cursed Gold available within the sanctum so even if one wanted to buy as much as they wanted, they might be hard-pressed to find someone willing to sell it to them.
n'Good, now show me the average prices, weapon and armor tiers, information regarding their enchantments, and of any other treasures that are available to be bought and sold.'
nHao Xuan's eyes switched back and forth between the hundreds of pages of information and he made sure to remember everything from the bottom up.
nThe items that he could see in Lord Jyothi's book were only the ones made by him which were less than 0.01% of what was available from all the rest.
nAnything he could possibly imagine had been traded or purchased at one point or another and all that information was at his fingertips.
nBut what caught his attention the most were some items that did not have a price at all. One of them was an 'Oridian Battlecruiser'.
n
"Can have an active crew of 400 with a total capacity of housing 22,000. Outfitted with Sigma Class offensive weaponry. Needs to be unlocked.
