Chapter 1369 - Human Bomb

In fact, these two skills weren’t fatal, which gave the players a false sense of security. They thought that Baron Geddon was an impressively-looking but useless Boss.

Until…

Hachi Chan, who was busy healing at the time, noticed that her body had burst into flames.

“Oh, something is wrong.”

As she spoke, her body exploded.

She didn’t explode into pieces, but she and the people around her suffered a lot of damage. At the same time, Hachi Chan was thrown into the air. She obviously didn’t know how to fly, and you couldn’t fly in the middle of this Instance Dungeon either, so this was obviously the work of the Boss.

Being tossed at a high altitude usually resulted in one of two things.

Either she would land and take significant damage, or she would land somewhere soft and be unharmed.

Hachi Chan, who fell from quite high up, took a lot of damage when she landed. The other players that were around the impact zone suffered the same damage. Hachi Chan had become a human bullet, and had been tossed into her companions.

The second explosion from the landing left a number of bodies scattered over the floor.

There was no point in struggling anymore. So many of the players had died that there wasn’t any point to it.

The group of players sat in a group eating bread and drinking some water to regenerate their stamina.

Everyone was sitting in the circle, trying to work out what happened.

“Hachi Chan exploded,” Azure Sea Breeze said sadly.

“You exploded,” Hachi Chan retorted as she jumped up.

“It must be the Boss that picked her, and made Hachi Chan explode…” Lu Li muttered as he held Hachi Chan’s head stopped her from jumping around.

“It literally happened to you, and you’re denying it? Do you want to lose guild points? This explosion causes damage initially and then sends the target flying to deal more damage on impact…”

This wasn’t a difficult observation; anyone could have realized that if they were paying attention.

“There is a warning for the player who is about to explode, as they would be enveloped in flames,” Wandering added.

“Hachi Chan, how long was it between your body being set alight and the explosion?” Lu Li asked.

“About… uh… I’m not sure,” Hachi Chan muttered as she thought about it. She looked sorrowful. She exploded the moment she realized that something was wrong. As this was VR game, she had not yet recovered from the shock.

“Well, Breezy, get ready to fight the Boss again. This time, we’ll need to try to understand the characteristics of the Boss’ skills,” Lu Li said.

This time, Sesame Rice Ball had been selected. It seemed to be random, so it was hard to say who would be selected next, but once they were selected, it was just bad luck for them.

“Run away from me, quickly, I’m about to explode!” Sesame Rice Ball shouted loudly.

Lu Li couldn’t but feel some pride, not because he was about to explode, but because he had to intelligence to make that call. Now that he had cried out, the scene was quite chaotic, and there were a few players running in the wrong direction…

The explosion caused nearly 3000 damage because of its close range. It also depended on the player’s Fire Resistance. If they didn’t have much, they really would lose 3000 HP.

At present, the average players had about 3000 HP. There were few players that had much more than 3000 HP.

In addition to the area of effect damage they had taken earlier, anyone that didn’t run away would definitely die.

The Mage’s Ice Block and the Paladin’s Invulnerability could protect them from dying, but there were only a few players with those skills. Their damage reduction skills were useless here as only Fire Resistance could reduce this skill’s damage.

Once again, everyone got wiped, which left them dumbfounded.

An ordinary player would think that this Boss was unbeatable. The person that was chosen to explode was bound to die, but they also dragged a number of other players down with them.

If this human bomb detonated a few times, who would be left to fight the Boss?

“Hey, do you guys know how to use your brains?”

Lu Li couldn’t stand it anymore. He had to remind these so-called game experts, “Why does everyone need to run away from the human bomb? Why can’t the human bomb run away from everyone else!”

This sudden realisation made them feel like they had just woken up from a dream.

It wasn’t that the people here weren’t intelligent, but rather that they had been misled by Sesame Rice Ball into this train of thought.

Lu Li didn’t want to waste any more time, so he began to command the players specifically. “Wait until Bearded Zaza pulls the Boss and let your pet tank it. Once the Boss has been pulled into position, then clear them out…”

He brought everyone back to Garr’s room.

It was a similar stone cave, but the terrain was different. There was a larger area and a smaller area. The larger area was good for the team fight, but the smaller area was a good location for the human bomb to run into. Even after they exploded, they wouldn’t take too much damage because the top wall was quite low. This way, even the human bomb didn’t have to die.

His strategy made complete sense.

They had already defeated Garr, so they were familiar with the terrain.

However, there were few people that kept this information in their minds, thinking that it would be useful in fighting Baron Geddon.

If this was another team, the commander probably wouldn’t have thought of changing the location for a few days. After all, it was a little far away, and it was only the Hunter’s pet that could pull it off.

Bearded Zaza had an agile cat. It was smaller than a leopard, with four silent paws. It had little defence and no skills, but it had unbeatable speed.

Its defence was unimportant. Regardless of how much defence it had, if it got hit by Barron Geddon, it would be dead soon after.

Bearded Zaza controlled his pet from afar. The beast slowly approached Baron Geddon and swiped at it, causing a dozen points of damage. After the injury, it turned and ran. Fortunately, the beast was fast, as it was almost hit by Infernal.

Geddon had cast such a strong skill for just a small animal, which was truly overkill.

The Boss soon saw that his attack didn’t work, so he immediately rushed towards it and followed the fast moving-beast.

This was the effect they were looking for. Bearded Zaza led the Boss and soon brought it to the designated location. Azure Sea Breeze went up to cast Taunt. Everyone else was ready, and had gathered on one side to make space on the other for the human bomb.

“Now that we’ve solved the problem of the human bomb, everyone needs to work hard. We only have two hours left, so if we fail now, we’ll have to give up for the day.”

Another player had been selected to be the human bomb, but he reacted quickly and ran to the other side. This time, he didn’t die, nor did he kill anyone.

This gave Lu Li a glimmer of hope.

“Dammit, where are you going!”

Before Lu Li could take a breath, the second human bomb actually ran into the group of players. Lu Li almost coughed up blood as he cried out, “That’s a 5 point deduction! Anyone who feels like they have guild points to spare should try that again.”

Even his enraged yelling wasn’t enough to calm his fury.

“Sorry Boss, I got confused and ran in the wrong direction,” the player apologized. He was crying and looked sullen with a face filled with sorrow.

When a human bomb was used to its full effect, it wasn’t just one or two that died. This naturally meant that the group got wiped.

“The nearby mobs need to be cleared, so clear those monsters first. Everyone also needs remember what to do. Once you have been selected, you need to remember to do it. Zaza, you’ve been working hard, but your time has come again,” Wandering said, taking a turn at commanding. He commanded everyone to clear out the monsters after they had been revived.

He could understand Lu Li’s mood. He had found such a suitable location, and thought that their problems had been solved, but he didn’t expect that they would get wiped because of such a dumb mistake.

“It is normal to get wiped often when doing First Clears. It is best not to overestimate their intelligence…” Wandering sighed as he patted Lu Li’s shoulder, “Not everyone is as smart as I am, so it can be a lonely world.”
