Chapter 1958 - Away Side Can Still Win
Fortunately, they didn’t need to restart the Boss if they died. Furthermore, there were also skill points given to two players.
Although Lu Li wasn’t one of them, his fiancée was, so he was still very happy.
The ones responsible for reviving went to take care of the dead players, while the ones responsible for looting went to loot.
No one cared about the materials and other things that dropped first. If it wasn’t an Enhanced Skill Book, no one batted an eye at it.
The main show was here; Azgalor was a Boss that dropped T6 Set Equipment.
T6 items were obviously the top items at the time. The few Legendary items that Lu Li and Water Fairy had didn’t count. After all, those items could only be found once in a blue moon, and even then, they were still extremely rare.
“Snowy, it’s yours. Make an offer for it,” Lu Li said, publicly displaying his affection.
“How shameless. This is such a good dagger. Why don’t you need it?”
The spectators couldn’t bear to watch any longer.
“Don’t you see the twin blades that I’m using now?” Lu Li shot back. He shamelessly let Water Fairy take the item at the lowest price.
There were only two Thieves in the team after all.
“I also can wield one-handed swords. I don’t care. When that time comes, I’ll talk with my Guild Points!” Azure Sea Breeze laughed coldly and looked at Lu Li with great contempt.
Lu Li didn’t bother with him and asked Remnant Dream to continue looting.
Don Rodrigo’s Poncho!
This was Epic armor for healing Druid’s. Innocent Child ended up with the item.
Gloves of the Forgotten Conqueror!
This was a pair of T6 Gloves for Paladins, Priests and Warlocks and also the first T6 Gloves for Ruling Sword. They were taken by March Rain.
Gloves of the Forgotten Protector!
This was a pair of T6 Gloves for Warriors, Hunters and Shamans.
All the Thieves, Mages and Druids looked at Remnant Dream with hopeful eyes, hoping that she would pull out an item for them. In the end, that was not the case.
After Azgalor came Archimonde. However, the pro players like Water Fairy and Lu Li couldn’t continue.
It was time to decide who would enter the Professional League’s semi-finals.
Wings of Dawn and Blood Red War Flag had already clashed in the first round of the quarterfinals. Even having the home ground didn’t bring an advantage. It could be said that they were finished for the season.
Next was Ruling Sword fighting against Azure Guard, with Ruling Sword as the away side.
If they could win despite being the away side, Ruling Sword would have quite a good chance this time.
They landed at the airport before noon and began the match in the afternoon. After finishing, they left immediately. There was no time wasted.
Azure Guard’s first player was the Mage, Magic Cry. It didn’t matter how much Floral Paralysis, their Thief, wanted to compare his skills with Lu Li – it was always going to be Magic Cry.
But what if the first player from Ruling Sword ended up being Moonlight?
In the current update, Thieves would definitely lose to Warriors, unless the Thief had an advantage in both skills and equipment.
Therefore, it would be the safest to deploy a Mage. It didn’t matter whether it was a Warrior or a Thief; a Mage would still be effective.
The first player to enter the battlefield from Ruling Sword was Lu Li.
He wanted to face off against Floral Paralysis, but he wasn’t scared of a Mage. Thieves couldn’t really control Mages, but it would also be difficult for a Mage to control a Thief.
In Dawn, the win to loss ratio for battles between Mages and Thieves was quite even, at nearly 50:50.
After reaching level 70, everyone’s HP and armor was increased by tremendous amounts. Therefore, it was impossible to instantly kill any class, no matter how fragile they were. However, if the equipment and skill difference was significant, then it would be possible.
Since this was the quarterfinals, what gap would there be?
Lu Li immediately entered Stealth and used Cheap Shot. Magic Cry dispelled the skill, turned around and responded with a Silence and Freezing Circle.
If he was frozen, then it would over. Lu Li immediately activated his cloak to dispel the Silence and crowd-control. After freeing himself, Magic Cry also used blinked and escaped.
Even the worst Mages would know to put distance between themselves and Thieves while in a fight.
Shadow Step. Liver Shot. Ice Block to dispel.
It was a back and forth. Lu Li tried this skill rotation twice and was buffered, but he wasn’t at a disadvantage. Magic Cry’s skills were also rendered useless.
Everyone was looking for an opportunity, or to create an opportunity to force their opponent to make an error.
Lu Li had to admit that Magic Cry had improved in leaps and bounds. He hadn’t expended so much energy during their last battle.
Of course, it was also because Lu Li didn’t want to use his Legendary items.
Being the away side, he just needed to gain a little bit of an upper hand.
Lu Li wasn’t especially quick or slow, but Magic Cry was struggling to keep up.
After all, they were the home side. If they could gain an advantage going into the second battle, then the morale of the team would be greatly increased. Knowing this, his attacks became much more ferocious.
In response, Lu Li became even more relaxed.
The more desperate that Magic Cry got, the more likely it was for him to expose a kink in his armour.
Even the spectators, let alone analysts and fellow competitors could see what was happening.
As soon as the slightest opportunity presented itself, Lu Li pounced and used a combination of skills, taking away a noticeable chunk of Magic Cry’s HP. Adding this onto the previous damage that was inflicted on both sides as they were trading skills, Magic Cry was on the verge of death.
Although Magic Cry was using healing abilities and special effects, he couldn’t offset Lu Li’s attacks.
Lu Li needed to capitalise on this opportunity to defeat him.
Even Lu Li’s basic attacks were enough to overcome the healing done to Magic Cry. Furthermore, Lu Li didn’t care about his own HP any longer and relentlessly attacked. Before Magic Cry could deal lethal blows to Lu Li, he finally fell to the ground.
Phew!
Lu Li stood alone on the arena and calmly looked at his opponent’s body, splayed across the floor. He breathed a sigh relief.
In the beginning of the game, his advantage was that he was reborn. Even in the Professional League, he was using his knowledge from before to suppress and take down the old gods of gaming.
It had already been two years since then.
There were less things to exploit now. The difference in skill and mechanics were no longer a reality. The advantage he had before was now gone.
Lu Li used his true strength to defeat Magic Cry. It was pure skill. He hadn’t even used many of the hidden cards up his sleeves.
What did this mean? Well, if Lu Li was given a suitable starting point, even without the advantage of being reborn, he would have been able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the giants of the game.
The second player was Floral Paralysis.
Both Thieves greeted each other and talked for a short while. Then, they entered Stealth together.
Floral Paralysis was not desperate. After seeing what had happened to Magic Cry, he calmed himself down and decided to battle slowly but steadily.
Actually, Lu Li was worried that Floral Paralysis would look to finish him off as soon as he could.
After all, Lu Li had just finished a battle that required a high concentration level, so it would be disadvantageous to him if Floral Paralysis was going all out from the beginning. Furthermore, Floral Paralysis was also a top Thief who wasn’t much worse than himself.
The more he could rest, the better it would be. He might even be able to have all his cooldowns refreshed.
Unfortunately, Floral Paralysis wasn’t stupid. He wasn’t planning on letting Lu Li recover to his peak condition.
Both Thieves were crawling around the battlefield. There was bound to be a moment where they would meet.
