Chapter 83

n.

nFor what… Both looked at Woo San again. He was just softly smiling as if he didn’t remember what he said.

nWoo San was an incredible fighter, but never once did he initiated a fight. Wasn’t it the reason why the dominant Sun Jin High School’s power suddenly plummeted compared to their past valor?

nSince he didn’t enjoy fighting with other students, other schools that complied with Sun Jin High School began to turn away one after another. No one broke out in revolt yet, but there was always a possibility for it to happen. That was also why the boys worked hard to persuade Woo San for a year. Despite their effort, Woo San refused with a smile as he said that he hated doing such things for it bore him to death.

nThen why did he become the captain of the school!?

nWhen Suh Jin Woon asked with a ludicrous feeling, Woo San would respond imperturbably, still with a smile.

n“The senior bumped into me in the hallway but he asked me to apologize.”

n“So?”

n“My dad taught me a thing when he was beating me since I was young. Never bend your head for trivialities. I truly got beaten up whenever I bent my head.”

n“Trivialities? So you’ve put down all the school gangsters just because you didn’t want to bend your head, is that what you’re talking about?”

n“Not only bending my head but that senior looked at me like a pervert.”

nThat was the end of the conversation. The hollow smile on Suh Jin Woon’s face lasted longer at that time. When he found out that the new face was such a great fighter, he thought ‘oh, finally, we could have some real battle,’ but the newbie turned out to be a psycho!

nWoo San was, as far as Suh Jin Woon could observe, a terribly strong and a terribly lazy guy. However, here he was, suddenly suggesting to pick a fight first?

n‘Then it’s not the time for me to lose my mind.’ When Suh Jin Woon was about to speak, Hwang Hae, who sat beside them, asked ahead.

n“So, who are we fighting?”

nHis voice was confident and full of excitement. Suh Jin Woon and Hwang Hae waited for Woo San’s response nervously. If he says something like, ‘I will fight the principal,’ Suh Jin Woon would likely hold Woo San’s waist and break him into half.

nWoo San looked a little puzzled, and he didn’t seem to know what to answer. He placed his elbow on the desk to rest his chin on the back of his hands; when he did so, he tilted his head before replying with a narrowly opened eyes.

n“So Hyun High School.”

n“…”

nSo Hyun High School… Both guys fell into a grave silent. It was a famous private high school located 20 minutes away from theirs if they simply traveled to go there by walking.

nThey heard the school was very selective for only accepting high GPA students; however, gangsters prowled in all corners of the world. Since the school was a private high school, some students’ wealthy backgrounds were the reason why the school accepted them.

nThe leader of the So Hyun High School gangsters belonged to that special status, named Eun Kyum. Despite going to a top high school, he was quite a well-known fighter.

nSuh Jin Woon, who saw his fancy fighting skills right before his eyes a year ago, felt a little uncomfortable.

nHowever, it was a battle worth attempting. If Woo San, who usually felt bothered by even the most mundane act of breathing, let alone fighting, actively took part in a fight, then it simply meant that he had the strength to defeat them.

nDuring the earlier days of their freshman year in high school, Suh Jin Woon saw Woo San overwhelmingly knocking down a group of boys without falling behind. When he recalled that memory, Suh Jin Woon tightly closed his lips. ‘Okay, things will work out if we are with him,’ he thought.

n‘Why though? What beef does he have against So Hyun High School?’ As soon as he had those questions in mind, Hwang Hae started throwing a question from the side.

n“Is this your way of leveling up?”

nSuh Jin Woon raised his head in surprise as he grasped the fever inside Hwang Hae’s voice. When he saw Woo San, he was still smiling cutely and nonchalantly. There was no sign of determination to win or to attain victory on his face.

nEvery school captain had a nationwide ranking determined by the ‘Ranking Battle,’ an annual fighting tournament where all school captains gathered to compete for their fighting skills. It was also where Suh Jin Woon saw Eun Kyum’s combat skills. He dragged the lazy Woo San to the Ranking Battle and attended the event as Woo San’s henchman.

nWoo San fought with integrity regardless of whining how bored he was, but after the seventh round, he left the stage saying that he’s fed up with whatever it was they were doing. Therefore, Woo San’s ranking fell at only 102nd.

n7,000 high schools in the nation participated in the Ranking Battle, so being in the 102nd place satisfied the kids in this school; however, Suh Jin Woon could not agree. It was all because this monster did not exert a drop of sweat in the entirety of competition at all.

nThe change in the ranking took place in two different ways: one, by the Ranking Battle mentioned above; two, by the schools facing off against each other to take the higher level.

nSuddenly, a question popped up inside Suh Jin Woon’s head. ‘What happened to this year’s first ranker then?’

nHe opened his lips at Hwang Hae.

n“Is there anyone who saw the number 1 this year? He’s been missing right after the Ranking Battle, right?”

n“Correct, but I don’t know where he is. Number 1s are always missing after the battle. Maybe they wanted to retire as they reached the top.”

n“That makes sense. This year, the number 1 was a very young boy. Wasn’t his name, Ban Hwee Hyul; I think he’s 17 years old, right?”

n“Oh, really?” Hwang Hae asked back as if it was none of his business. Then he stretched out his hand and tapped Woo San’s arm. When Woo San looked at him in wonder, Hwang Hae spoke as if on cue.

n“Hey, this year’s number 1 is the same age as your cute, charming cousin. He’s a year younger than us, right?”

n“No, you’re wrong.” Woo San, who was listening to Hwang Hae, responded abruptly. It made Hwang Hae ask back in confusion.

n“Huh? Isn’t your cousin a year younger than us?”

n“I mean, you should add ‘lovely’ after cute and charming.”

n“…”

n“Be careful next time. Got it?”

nWhen Woo San ended that remark with a smile and a wink, Suh Jin Woon and Hwang Hae grew speechless and thought while staring at him. ‘What should we do with this handsome jerk? If he wasn’t the fu*king captain, we would have beaten him up.’ On the other hand, they had this thought in mind too. ‘Is Woo Jooin, Woo San’s so-called cute, charming, and lovely cousin, also as terrifying as this bastard?’

nIt was Hwang Hae who broke the ice.

n“Hey, but what’s with your sudden mood to fight them? Did those folks bully your cousin in that school? He goes to So Hyun High School, after all.” Hwang Hae asked Woo San.

nThe gangsters in this school all knew every detail about Woo San’s cousin, Woo Jooin. It was not because they had an interest in him since they weren’t gay; their knowledge of him stemmed after Woo San intimidated them while saying, ‘you are dead meat if you dare touch him.’ Thus, his cousin became a constant part of their mindset.

nWoo San burst out laughing thereafter, which looked like he was enjoying a funny comedy show. His reaction surprised Hwang Hae and Suh Jin Woon.

nA moment later, Woo San stopped his laughter and spoke to the boys.

n“Hey, do you really think my cousin would ever get bullied? If that happens, I will kill them all, but no, nothing like that happened. However, it’s true that he asked me to fight the gangsters in So Hyun High School.”

n“Really? Your brother is very nice and cute just as you said. I’m really looking forward to this fight now. Alright, they should be, of course, seniors; they’re all in Eun Kyum’s grade, right?” Hwang Hae asked with a proud face.

nWoo San shook his head and said, “What are you talking about? We’re sophomores, so aren’t we supposed to fight sophomores?”

n“…?”

n“…?”

nHwang Hae and Suh Jin Woon, again, looked at each other out of perplexity.

nThe sophomore captain of So Hyun High School was Hwang… Hwang Si… they were not sure what his name was, but he was an unimpressive boy who didn’t look like a great fighter. ‘So, you want to fight that jerk instead of Eun Kyum?’

nHwang Hae said, “Hey, is it Hwang Si… something, something you’re looking for? Well, then it’s a piece of cake.”

n“Meh, that’s fu*king lame.” Suh Jin Woon replied after Hwang Hae.

nWoo San shrugged with a bright grin on his face as if it was not what he wanted too.

n“What else can I do when my cousin asks me to just grab them? He told me that Hwang Si-sh*t would not even appear. He just wanted me to grab the sophomore minions.”

n“What?”

nBoth got even more dumbfounded than ever. Regardless of their disconcerted faces, Woo San just boasted clamorously about how witty he was for giving Hwang Siwoo a nickname that was Hwang Si-**.

n‘Are you kidding me? Then how do we fight those jerks after freezing on to them?’ Suh Jin Woon couldn’t bear the deep despondency within him. He quietly uttered those words in his mind to Woo San.

n“So, are you asking us to play finger games with them or what?”

n“Eh? No, you guys can use everything; fingers, toes, arms, and legs…” Woo San responded with a mischievous laugh.

nAfter a moment of silence, Hwang Hae lifted his heel against the locker while spatting the word, ‘Shit.’ The metal door got crushed at once. Suh Jin Woon refused to act aggressive like that, but he fetched a deep sigh and swept his hair back.

n
