Chapter 42
n
n
nDalia blankly stared at him.
n‘This person is……totally obstinate.’
nA wall that doesn’t change no matter what you say. Dalia really missed Adrisha.
n‘No, Adrisha is not here.’
nThere is no one to save her. This was a challenge that Dalia had to solve on her own.
nDalia sprang up from her seat. Cedric looked up at her while sitting down.
n“What’s the matter?”
n“No, I’ll teach you.”
n“Huh?”
n“I’ll teach you what human beings are from now on.”
n
n
nAnd she confidently reached out her hand toward Cedric.
nCedric stood up looking a little bewildered and held her hand. In the meantime, Dalia’s posture became more straight because of her pride that she managed to make him feel flustered for the first time.
n“……So where are we going?”
n“To the Imperial Palace Library. Please show me the way.”
nDalia strode forward while holding his hand even though she didn’t know the way. Cedric followed suit, while keeps on alternating between his hands and Dalia’s back.
nThe palace library was much, much larger than Dalia thought.
nShe looked up at the tall library, stunned.
nThis is why she can’t find anything.
nDalia was looking around for the librarian. Cedric saw her and asked.
n“What book are you looking for? I’ll find it for you.”
n“……Do you know all the books here, Your Highness?”
n“Just call me Cedric. And you can use magic here.”
nShe had never heard of magic being used that way. When Dalia looked at him in surprise, he said nonchalantly.
n“Multi-attribute magic can be used in many ways, depending on its use. Anyone can do it.”
n‘No, that’s because you Sir Cedric is a genius.’
nHowever Dalia wasn’t looking for any specific book.
n“Just five or six books regarding human conscience.….”
n“Then we’ll have to go to the humanities section.”
nCedric took her to Zone 8 of the library.
nOf course, there were many books there. Cedric used magic to pull books out of the shelves that are far above his height.
n“《What is Human Being?》, 《The Source of Conscience》, 《The Beginning of Human Being》…….”
nIt was picked out of her sight, but as per Dalia asked for, it was all books that contained the keywords of conscience or human beings.
nDalia looked at Cedric with admiration.
n“It’s not much of a deal.”
nCedric said quietly.
nHe picked out about seven books, he then stopped and looked back at Dalia.
n“That’s enough right? I did choose but……what does this mean?”
n“It’s very important.”
nFinally, the time has come.
nDalia looked at the books in Cedric’s arms dearly.
n“……Huh?”
n“It’s homework.”
n“What do you mean homework?”
n“You asked me to teach you about humanity, didn’t you?” Then, I’m a teacher now.”
n“…….”
nCedric blankly stared at Dalia. She put her hand on her waist and looked up at him.
n“Right?”
n“……Yes, teacher.”
nCedric replied obediently. Dalia nodded her head.
n“Then you’ll have to read this ten times and write five reports per book and get tested by me. Don’t ever come until you’re done with your homework!”
n“……Huh?”
nDalia did not answer his question. She left Cedric with his eyes still wide open and quickly fled the palace library.
n‘I’m sorry, Sir Cedric.’
nI’m the one who looked for you, but I returned your kindness in this way.
nBut Dalia had a feeling. If she doesn’t do this, she’ll end up getting involved with him.
n‘No! I can’t get engaged!’
nThe marriage system in this world was never acceptable to her, who still had memories of her past life.
n“Dalia!”
nHikan, who was looking for her, called her in surprise. Dalia was able to escape the palace safely under his escort.
n* * *
n“……Sir Cedric?”
nThe day after Dalia came to the Imperial Palace, Adrisha, as usual, came to report to the Emperor regularly and witnessed an unbelievable scene.
nCedric was completely immersed in his study. In a study room linked to the Emperor’s audience room.
n“What are you doing?”
n“You must be free, Adrisha. Since you have the time to talk to me.”
nCedric knitted his eyebrows and smiled.
nAlthough the way he speaks and his outfit is different from usual, it is Cedric.
nCedric had never studied since the awakening.
nHe didn’t have to. Since he was able to handle multi-attribute magic freely means that he have a high-level intelligence.
nAdrisha sometimes suspected that his twisted personality was due to his excessive intelligence.
nAdrisha glanced at Cedric’s side and looked at the stack of books.
n《What is Human Being?》,《The Source of Conscience》,《The Beginning of Human Being》…….
nAll of them were books that he wouldn’t read even if he was born again.
n“Why are you here……?”
n“My father, when he saw me read these books, he was moved to tears. Will you go now since I have answered your question?”
n“…….”
nBut Adrisha has seen it. On the top of the paper that Cedric is working hard on, it says ‘Book Report’.
n‘What the hell is going on with Sir Cedric?’
nShe wanted to ask, but she thought that he’d really be angry if she said one more word. She turned around carefully and tried to leave the study.
n“Adrisha, come here.”
nBut Cedric called her just before she left. Adrisha also obediently went to his side following the sad fate as the subordinate.
n“Can you explain this sentence? No matter how hard I look at it, I don’t understand it.”
n“…….”
n“Conscience is what makes human the most noble.”
nIt was not until he spoke that she realized he didn’t want an answer.
nAdrisha watched as Cedric chew on his lips and shake his head in irritation. To be honest, it was fun.
n“It’s not because they’re good that people didn’t kill young animals. It’s just that they feel uncomfortable. Why is it most noble to ignore rational judgement and follow emotion?”
nStill, he leaned his head on his hand and wrote another line on a piece of paper that said “Book Report.”
nAdrisha thought, looking at him.
n‘Yes, he was this kind of person.’
nWhy did he fall in love with Dalia, when he doesn’t believe in conscience or humanity at all? And why is he looking at that book without even understanding it?
nShe just couldn’t figure it out.
nCedric sighed and shook his head.
n“Love is really hard, Adrisha.”
n“…….”
n“It’s very difficult.”
nAnyway, it was clear that he wasn’t normal.
nAdrisha looked at him with her eyes narrowed, then made an excuse and left to see the Emperor.
nCedric, who knew she didn’t like him from the beginning, began to write the report regardless.
nThere are three books left. The other seven books were read 10 times each and he already wrote a full book report. Reading the same content ten times was more like torture for him, who memorized the whole book even after reading it five times. Still, he did. Because he cannot deceive love.
nDalia would have thought that it would take a month, but she tended to take his love too lightly.
n
n
n‘Well, she wouldn’t trust just anyone.’
nCedric was more of a common-sense thinker than he thought.
n‘So I have no choice but to say it over and over again until it works.’
nHe also was more crazy than he thought. Suddenly, he let go of the pen while he was writing and looked at his hand for a moment. It was the hand that Dalia held before.
nHe stared at his hand for a long time and clenched his fist again.
n‘I’ll tell her not to hold hands from now on.’
nThe back of her casually dragging him seemed to come back to his mind.
nHe blinked, and thought while holding the pen again.
n‘Because if she do that again, my heart will beat too fast.’
nWhen will Dalia believe in his love? That was his greatest concern now.
n
