Chapter 120 - Mr. Johnson Went Mad Again

nWhat the hell was he talking about?
nClaire didn’t want to listen to his nonsense anymore. She shook off his hand, and continued to give him a cold compress.
n
n
nGallon’s words suddenly popped up in her mind.
nAfter a moment of silence, Claire lowered her eyes and asked casually. “Who was the man with you tonight?”
nHunter suddenly squeezed her cheeks with both hands and frowned crossly. “Don’t ask about another man in front of me.”
nClaire choked at his words and turned her head to dodge Hunter’s touch.
n
n
n“I just asked casually.”
n“His name is Bill Carter. He is from the Yu Kingdom.” Hunter leaned back lazily, narrowing his eyes slightly.
nHe seemed to enjoy her cold compress a lot, and his voice slowed down. “He came to the Ye Kingdom for a pharmaceutical project. Our family has taken part in that project too.”
nClaire paused.
n
n
nSure enough, Gallon was right.
nClaire glanced at the man sideways and began to draw information out of him. “Has the medicine… been made?”
n“Not yet.” Hunter replied, and then changed the topic. “There are some people locked in the institute.”
nWhat does he mean?
nClaire continued to ask. “How many?”
n“About ten.”
n
n
nWhy were so many people locked up?
nCould it be…
nClaire’s heart did a flip.
nDid those people plan to use those people to test the medicine?
nOr did they have other uses?
nHunter opened his eyelids at this moment, grabbed Claire’s arm abruptly, and yanked her into his arms.
nCaught off guard, Claire fell on Hunter. She hurriedly supported his chest with both her hands, and could even feel the beating of his heart.
nPlops and plops, hitting her palms.
n
n
nShe raised her head and saw his deep, dark eyes.
nHunter’s sharp eyes seemed to be unfathomable.
nHis gaze ran across her face inch by inch, and his voice was a little cold. “What do you want to inquire about?”
nClaire’s pupils shook slightly.
nThere was something wrong with his brain but he was not stupid.
nHe could detect her intention in an instant.
nUnder the man’s suspicious gaze, Claire was as calm as ever. She pushed him away and stood up, holding the ice bag in her hand. “The cold compress is done.”
nThen she turned around and left.
nIt was late, so Claire stayed at the Johnsons’ villa.
nIt was the same room that she slept in before. Nothing in it had changed.
nClaire lay on the soft bed but couldn’t fall asleep.
nHunter’s words haunted her mind.
nShe had to figure out what was hidden behind this so-called specific medicine project.
n
n
nThe next morning, when Claire walked downstairs, the servants had already prepared breakfast, which was made according to her taste.
nBefore long, Derek yawned and walked down the stairs, wearing a rabbit-eared nightcap.
n“Huh? Claire? When did you come last night? Why didn’t I know…”
nClaire glanced at him, didn’t speak, and picked up the hot milk glass next to her.
nAt this time, a loud bang came from the second floor.
nThe servants panicked instantly.
n“It’s over. Mr. Johnson has gone mad again!”
nDerek turned around and rushed to the second floor.
nWent mad?
nClaire put down the tableware and followed upstairs.
nIn the room, Hunter was lying on the ground, his face ghastly pale. His face was distorted in pain. He raised his slender neck and frantically tore his collar, as if he could not breathe. He was convulsing all over.
nDerek was so scared that he hid in the corner of the wall, crying anxiously. “Hunter…”
nMr. Hopkins was trying to call the doctor.
nThe bodyguards used all their strength but still couldn’t hold back Hunter. The man was like a mad beast, growling in pain.
nIt was the first time Claire had seen him so crazy and irritable.
nFor some reason, she walked over and called out to him. “Hunter…”
nHearing the familiar voice, the man’s eyes seemed to regain a wisp of sanity. He suddenly grabbed Claire’s hand and hugged her in his arms.
nClaire tentatively reached out and stroked the man’s back like comforting a child.
nTo everyone’s surprise, Hunter put his head on her shoulder. His breathing gradually became stable, and his tense body began to relax.
nHe quickly changed from a mad beast to a docile pet.
nEveryone was stunned.
