nGallon frowned. “Experiment? What experiment?”
n“Sit up and adjust the time. Although it can’t let your body travel through time, it can make your mind feel like you are on the scene. Umm… it’s kinda like VR, you know?”
nGallon was skeptical.
nDr. Kurt urged him. “Sit up quickly.”
nGallon walked to the big machine and sat down in the middle. Dr. Kurt put the helmet on his head and then turned the power on.
n“Wait a minute!” Gallon narrowed his eyes. “Are you sure… there is nothing wrong in doing this?”
n“Don’t worry. The electricity won’t kill you. What moment in the past would you like to go back to?” Dr. Kurt pressed on the display next to him.
nGallon clenched his hands, his voice hoarse. “Four years ago.”
n“OK, close your eyes.”
nGallon closed his eyes and only heard a loud noise in his ears, and then, he felt dizzy. When the sound gradually disappeared, he found that he was in the Garcias’ house.
nStanding outside the door, the servant greeted him cordially. “Hi, Dr. Miller!”
nA girl in slippers ran to the balcony, poking out her head, and her hair slid down her shoulders. Under the sun, her skirt fluttered like butterfly wings. She put her slender arms on the railing and smiled at Gallon. “Dr. Miller!”
nGallon had brought apricot seedlings.
nThis was what he promised Susan before.
nIn the afternoon, the two of them took a shovel and planted the sapling outside the gate.
nThe hem of Susan Garcia’s skirt was stained with dirt, but she didn’t mind and sat on the ground. Holding her white cheeks with her dirty hands, she said with a smile, “I really want spring to come soon so that I can see the trees full of almond blossoms. Dr. Miller, will you watch it with me?”
nGallon sat opposite her. “Sure.”
nThe sun was still warm, but the sky turned gloomy.
nIn the bathroom, the blood was all over the floor, looking shocking.
nThe servants grabbed Susan and snatched the blade from her hand. The blood leaked from the wound on her wrist, ticking on the cold floor.
nShe struggled and screamed madly as if she was strangled by fear. Her pupils dilated, her face was twisted, and she looked extremely painful.
n“Let me die! Let me die! The world is hell. You are all demons. Let me leave!!”
nTears slipped from the corners of her eyes. She looked at Gallon through her messy hair and begged. “Dr. Miller… let me die…”
nGallon’s lips squirmed and he could barely hear his own voice. “I will cure your disease…”
nIn bipolar disorder, the patient’s emotions were always in two extreme states. Sometimes they were as enthusiastic as the warm sun, while sometimes they felt as if they were falling into an abyss, sad and painful.
nThe last time he saw her was in her bedroom.
nSusan leaned on the bed, her wrist wound wrapped in gauze, and she smiled palely. “Dr. Miller, with hypnosis, my illness will be cured, right?”
nGallon sat aside, stretched out his hand, and patted her head. “Yes, it’s like going to sleep. Everything will be fine when you wake up.”
nA servant walked into the bedroom with milk in her hand. “Miss, drink some milk. It may help with hypnosis.”
nSusan took the milk and drank it under the watchful eyes of the servant.
nAs the servant left, Susan slowly lay down, closing her eyes, with an expectant smile over her lips.
nShe hoped that everything would get better when she woke up.
nAs the hypnosis slowly came to an end, Gallon leaned over and whispered in her ear.. “Susan, when I count to three, open your eyes.”
