Chapter 354 - Greater Prophecy Spell
A thought popped into the minds of everyone present. They all wondered if the darkness they had brought up was referring to the evil that was Lu Xuan or their age-old adversary.
They wondered if the term included other cultivation forces, as well.
After all, Abrahamic faiths did have a habit of labeling those who believe in any other faiths as infidels.
Many began to instantly regret being present.
A lot of people had disregarded the Roman Curia since they saw themselves as extremely powerful beings, and that the Roman Curia would not have bothered the handful of those people. If something were to go wrong, there were still over 100 Airborne Realm beings present nonetheless. That was more than enough for them to overrun the place.
It would have even gotten to the point where the Roman Curia would probably not be able to keep the 100 Airborne Realm cultivators from tearing the place down. Any contingency plans that they had in place would be useless.
However, things would be completely different if that angel of an unknown level of powers were to advent.
Several people were lurking in the shadows in the midst of the crowd, glaring at Pope Innocent with an eerie expression.
If someone were to pay close enough attention, they would have found them to be very different from common folks.
The dark aura they emanated marked them all as members of the Covenant of Darkness.
They were all ancient adversaries of the Roman Curia.
Their knowledge of the angels was far beyond that of common folks, as well.
“Angels eh? I wonder if it will have two wings, four, or maybe even six,” Someone mumbled.
Dong!
Dong!
Dong!
As the ringing of the bell spread far and wide, Pope Innocent announced, “We shall hereby bear witness to the advent of the angels.”
The crowd saw a huge gate appearing out of nowhere above the plaza of St. Peter’s Basilica. Somehow, it looked like a gate of some city in the clouds.
Once the huge gate opened, everyone watched as a huge figure gradually appeared on the other side of the gate.
Countless people immediately gasped right there and then. Several devotees from all over the world would kneel at the sight of such a majestic being.
There were even several political figures who, regardless of the depth of their faith, were instantly shocked by the sight. All of them felt compelled to kneel.
That figure was far taller than normal humans; standing at over three meters tall, the figure looked like it was the height of two grown humans. The figure was also completely shrouded in light. There was a pair of wings growing from its back, allowing it to emanate a regal and divine presence.
“The angel! The angel has advent!”
While devotees from all over the world cheered, all of the cultivators present simultaneously felt a chill running down their spine. They felt goosebumps all over their bodies as they sensed that extremely terrifying aura emanating from that angel.
That was some kind of tremendous pressure.
It was an aura that belonged to only the most formidable beings.
Every single fighter present quickly realized that while the angel only had two wings, it was still most probably more powerful than any of them.
That tremendous pressure beating down on all of them made them feel unwell almost immediately.
The devotees, on the other hand, hardly felt anything as they instantly got on their knees.
Even Pope Innocent and the Eight Knights of the Faith each had one knee on the ground as they received the angel.
The two-winged angel took a look at the crowd with an aloof and cold expression on its face. It did not find the presence of fighters from all over the world to be out of place at all. It became apparent that the Roman Curia had somehow secretly communicated with the angel before it would advent.
The two-winged angel emanated tremendous pressure on purpose but quickly rescinded its powers, making it apparent that its powers were limited by the laws of the world.
Then again, the angel remained unimaginably powerful to even the Airborne Realm fighters.
Everyone was shocked to find that despite having its powers limited, that two-winged angel’s power still eclipsed that of everyone present by a significant degree.
“Evil. Darkness.”
The two-winged angel uttered two words and fixed its gaze at the handful of people at the edge of the place.
“Run.”
That was the thought that popped up in the minds of those few people.
All of them bolted far away at a moment’s notice.
Those few obscure beings instantly began to emanate a dark aura all about them.
They were members of the Covenant of Darkness!
Many in the crowd recalled where those beings came from.
“They sure are bold.”
Many had long speculated those people from the covenant would come to the Vatican to witness the event.
The levels of their powers were so high that, unless they deliberately made themselves known, even the forces of the Roman Curia would have had a hard time detecting them otherwise.
There was no way the top-notch fighters of the Roman Curia would go out of their way to screen everyone present, after all. Besides, it was impossible to screen that many people in the first place.
Despite having made such speculations, it was nonetheless shocking to see those people appear at the event.
They sure were bold!
The few instantly fled as they turned into bats, werewolves, or just a plume of black smoke.
There was simply no way for them to continue keeping a low profile. The Vatican burst with radiant holy light; that was what they had the hardest time dealing with.
Their expedition had been a very risky one right from the start.
Everyone who watched the event live gasped and yelled in fright. To many, it was their first time seeing the likes of vampires and werewolves in action.
Although Lu Xuan’s battle against Arthur and the other two back then had been utterly terrifying, he was nonetheless going against humans. As such, the battle back then was not deemed to be as exciting.
Other than the human cultivators, however, the appearance of several legendary creatures shocked several witnesses.
“God said, Let there be light!” As that angel uttered that one phrase, everyone instantly felt the world freezing over.
The few who were trying to escape were instantly suspended while in midair.
“The Greater Prophecy Spell!”
Cultivators were calling out. Many were familiar with that move. The rest who had never seen such an ability in action would have at least heard of it.
It was a major move from clerics of the Roman Curia: the Greater Prophecy Spell.
It was said that as God created the world in seven days, there was light when He commanded it.
That move was a divine art that completely defied the rules. In the minds of many cultivators, that move was definitely among the top three most overpowered skill, spell, or power.
The few that should have been able to escape were rendered completely helpless by that Greater Prophecy Spell. All of them were suspended in midair before being pulled back at frightening speeds.
Boom!
The few were brought to the ground, forming a crater in the ground as they crashed. They were now completely exposed to the world.
Everyone came to see those peculiar-looking creatures clearly. They could hardly be considered humans given the way they looked.
These were true vampires and werewolves.
The angel shot a disgusted look at the creatures of darkness and snorted dismissively. Despite being of Airborne Realm powers, all of them were reduced to specks of light that instantly scattered into the air.
