Chapter 541 - Birthday Presents

nFor Yvonne's birthday lunch, everything she loved to consume was prepared for her by the chefs who adored their Little Miss.

nThe chef had also heard from the Miss that she wished to have an entire cake for her birthday so he had one ready and waiting for them before they could finish their meal.

nThe strawberry-flavored cake was brought out and Yvonne introduced to them the tradition of cutting a birthday cake after blowing candles denoting the age of the person.

nThe Kingdom would soon hear of this new tradition started by the Miss of the St. Claire family and they would also hear the new 'birthday song' that she had taught the rest of her family and the staff.

nThe parents and brother felt odd singing for her but if that made her enjoy her special day then they were willing to do it.

n'I was always busy and rarely got a chance to spend time like this.' Yvonne's lips were curved into a wide smile after blowing the seven candles on the cake.

nShe watched as the maids cut precise slices for everyone and served them.

nIn her previous world, during her childhood, her mother would bake a cake and decorate it for her.

nHowever, those days did not last long as her parents had died in a car crash by the time she turned eight.

nHer grandpa Leo was in a rush to find the next heir and train them that the next part of her life turned fast-paced and too tiresome to even think of cutting a cake in peace.

nYet she never failed to organize everything for her baby brother, Vince, who had been too young to even retain the happy memories left behind by their parents.

nThis made her care for him more as she found him pitiful for not even being able to recall those joyful moments in his life.

nGrandpa Leo trained her until she was eighteen before he suddenly dropped the idea of making her the heir.

nHe gave her permission to do as she pleased and decided to train Vince instead.

nNot wanting to let her brother go through all the pain and suffering that she had endured in the name of training, she negotiated with her grandpa and continued on the same path.

nShe promised to train Vince using her own methods and had done exactly that in the past.

nAfter Vince took over the responsibilities of their family business, she had gotten busy with matters concerning Platina Entertainment.

nHence, she had never gotten the chance to enjoy her life in leisure nor had she celebrated her birthday, something she had done in this new life with great enthusiasm.

nWhile Yvonne was lost in her thoughts, the others were busy relishing the cake made with fresh strawberries and thick cream.

nSoon it was time to bring out the presents for the child and everyone was curious to know what the other person had prepared.

nLast year, Grandpa Valente had won her favor with the Obsidian bracelet which Yvonne wore every single day.

nTherefore, the competition was fierce and the desire to gain her favor was high among the rest of the family.

nHoward went first but surprisingly, there were two boxes that he brought out.

nCurious to know what was inside those boxes, Yvonne accepted them and took off the covers to peek inside.

nOne was an exquisite pair of vibrant vinaceous colored leather gloves while the other was a jacket of similar color and texture.

n

"The gloves are from that fool and the jacket is from me.

" Howard muttered who the presents were from as he glanced at the opened boxes before his sister.

nYvonne chuckled at the way her brother had just addressed his best friend then paid attention to what he had to say.

nWhile they were still in the Academy, a merchant had arrived to sell his products.

nOftentimes, the Dean of the Royal Academy would allow selected merchants and caravan groups to enter the Academy premises.

nThis was to let them have an idea of how commerce worked and to give them a chance to build relations with these businessmen which might be useful once they returned to their respective homes.

nThe latest merchant who had arrived specialized in leather, fur, and other such accessories.

nThe boys could either purchase the material from him and get it tailored from their preferred artisan or get the same done from his employees.

nWhen Howard had caught sight of the wine-colored leather material, he thought of his sister's hair which was of a similar tint.

nYvonne's dark violet hair would turn a deep maroon shade when coming in contact with the orange-yellow rays of the setting sun.

nHis little sister wearing something made out of this material was envisioned in the doting brother's mind and he was extremely pleased with the outcome.

nTaylor had been looking around but stopped his search when he found his friend's gaze fixed on this material.

nJust like Howard, he too felt that this color would look good on that little girl and hence purchased a small portion.

nHis would be turned into snug fitted gloves while Howard got a jacket prepared of the same material.

nMatching gifts meant for the seventh birthday of their little sister which was soon approaching was the purpose with which they had been prepared.

nSince Taylor could not be with her on this big day, he assigned this task to his friend and made sure that she would receive his present even if they weren't together on that day.

nYvonne smiled at their thoughtfulness and nodded repeatedly, appreciating the presents she received from her brothers.

nRaylene was next as she brought forward a tiny box.

nOpening it, Yvonne found a sparkling amethyst gem that resembles her eye color and the little girl was ecstatic to obtain this.

nUsually, she would shake her head at the many presents of gowns and jewelry her mother purchased for her, but this one, she was glad to receive as it had caught her eye.

nFinally, it was the father's chance and for this year's present, Rutherford prepared a brand new saddle for Demon on which Yvonne could sit while riding her etcher.

nWith this came the end of their lunch and the family retired to their own rooms.

n___

nSeated before the mirror in her room, Yvonne smiled when her maids brought the presents inside.

nMrs. Jacinth was preparing the bed for the Miss to take a nap while Roselie began arranging the presents she had received today.

nThe saddle from her father had already been assigned to Jax who would place it in Demon's stable so right now the other presents were inside this room.

nThe young maid placed the jacket and the gloves in the wardrobe before coming to the jewelry box before the mirror where the Miss was seated.

nYvonne was playing with her hair when her eyes inadvertently fell on the opened box inside which her simple jewelry which she could wear every day were placed.

nThe amethyst pendant necklace was placed inside the box with care but before Roselie could shut the box, the little girl's eyes were attracted to another piece of jewelry that she had also received as a gift before.

n'He brought unnecessary things.' Yvonne shook her head as she thought of the sender.

nRoselie had halted her movements once she found that her Miss was staring at the jewelry inside the box.

nThe clever maid put the box before the Miss and let her do as she pleased, while Roselie began combing the child's hair.

nYvonne stared at the golden necklace with a shiny silver stone as its pendant.

nThis was the birthday present that Sevenz had spoken about in his letters and later given to her on the day they met at his Mansion.

nWhile she thought the chain looked delicate and intricate, she could not find anything special about the stone embedded at its center.

nFor someone who had lived her entire life surrounded by luxury, this looked like a gift that had been picked half-heartedly from some small vendor.

nHowever, she knew Sevenz's personality and also was aware that the man had a keen eye for treasures.

nTherefore, she had not abandoned it in the vast storeroom in their mansion where the unwanted items were dumped.

nShe kept it with her and now was staring right at it.

nRaising her hand, the little girl picked the necklace up and placed the pendant in the palm of her hand.

nThe stone which came in contact with her skin was cool to the touch and a refreshing sensation swept over her entire body.

nFrowning at this abrupt change in the temperature around her, she looked around and found that her maids had not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

nPlacing the necklace on the table, she discovered that things had gone back to normal.

nAs it was summer right now, the temperature during the afternoon hours would get unbearable sometimes and today was one of those days.

nHowever, just earlier, she sensed a cool breeze encircling her but it was gone soon after.

nCurious to check if there was a connection between the breeze and the pendant Sevenz had gifted her, Yvonne picked it up once again but this time by the chain.

nNo changes occurred but when she raised a finger and poked at the silver stone, her body was engulfed in a gentle coolness.

n'The stone is causing this.' Yvonne discovered the power of the stone which Sevenz had given.

nHer brow raised in amusement as she clutched the stone tight in her hand, cherishing the cool breeze surrounding her once again.

n'A portable air conditioner.' She mused, chuckling that she had now gained a way to beat the heat in this ridiculously hot summer weather.

nHer friend and business partner had given her something valuable so she should find something good for him the next time they met.

n
