nChapter 65 Kanna Blitz (4)
nChaos. That word itself was enough to explain what Yoon-seok saw when he arrived at the campsite.
n“Ackkkkkkk!”
n“S-stop!”
n“What’s this? Why can’t we go in!”
nAround twenty challengers surrounded the wagon, and a woman’s sharp screams resounded from within the wagon. The third-degree Holy Warrior Wellington was lying on one knee in front of a carriage. When he looked closely, he noticed the hilt of a knife poking out from his stomach.
nWhile he glanced around for a moment to figure out what was going on, he heard Zerfah’s voice from behind.
n“I wondered why you were getting close to the wagon earlier. Did you spread some alarm skills out there? How meticulous.”
nThere were no other party members. When Yoon-seok disappeared without explanation, he must have chased after him alone. He remained calm even in their current circumstances.
n“Do you know what this is about?”
n
n
n“Are you asking why?”
nThe situation itself explained why. All the challengers surrounding the wagon were men, and the lust in their eyes was evident. But he was only curious about one thing: why was everyone just spectating? Including this Zerfah guy.
n“Tsk, tsk. Somehow I thought Wellington might know something about the challenges. What a shame.”
nWhen Yoon-seok pulled out a sword and tried to head to the carriage, his complexion changed, and he moved to block him.
n“What are you doing? I don’t think you should get involved. You’re not trying to help, are you?”
n“Yes, if you’re not going to help, please step aside.”
n“Well, you must be quite a sentimentalist. They’re just people recreated by the Tower anyway. And our mission was to guard them.”
nZerfah spoke as if he was teaching him some great truth. That made Yoon-seok uncomfortable.
nZerfah hurriedly explained as if he’d noticed.
n“Letting them off once won’t kill you anyway, and if you fight them and one of us dies, it’s a loss.”
n“…”
n“No, that’s not it. It’s a problem to kill them all. We might win today, but the heathen has already taken out too many lives.”
nZerfah was experienced, offering a realistic assessment of the situation. He always looked at the world with a calculated view and chose the most efficient path. If he’d judged that this wouldn’t be helpful, he wouldn’t have cared to stop them.
n“They won’t want to fail the mission, so they’ll never kill a theocrat. So let’s just watch.”
nYou’ll understand this much, right?
nYoon-seok read those unsaid words in his eyes. Surely what he said wasn’t absurd. As he said, they were reproduced by the system, and everything would reset at the end of the mission. It was natural for them not to feel like humans.
nBut…
n“Piss off. I’ll kill you if you get in the way.”
nZerfah was startled by Yoon-seok’s cold voice, and he forced his smile up with a stiff look on his face as if he was offended.
n“Woah, calm down, for now, buddy…?”
nThere were no further warnings. When the sword was pulled out, Zerfah’s smile immediately disappeared. Yoon-seok counted three seconds in his heart. After that, he would cut his head off immediately.
n“Ha, what a nut job. Do as you please. I don’t care if you die playing hero over there…”
nZerfah relented as if he’d hate to fight him., Yoon-seok moved to the carriage without glancing back even once. And…
nSlash!
nHe cut off the head of the man closest to the wagon. Yoon-seok opened his palm and sucked up the blood that spewed like a fountain. As a result, his energy that was running low due to the consumption rate of Lady Commandment, was now able to recover.
nFlop.
nDid they hear the body collapse? Or did they detect the energy that started to rise? It remained a mystery, but the challengers who were tapping on the carriage looked back at once.
n“W-what! That bastard!”
nYoon-seok didn’t answer. He just cut off their heads one by one. Though it might look like a plain-looking attack without sword energy, no one could stop or avoid it. The man closest to the carriage muttered as he saw Yoon-seok approaching.
n“Choi, Choi Yoon-seok…? Ah, no, I’m sure that psychopath was a dueler…?”
nJust as he was about to end him., Yoon-seok paused at his murmur. Judging from what he’d said, he assumed that he was from Earth.
n“Do you know me?”
nDid he take Yoon-seok’s question as a yes? The man’s complexion turned white, and he soon nodded several times vigorously.
n“How do you know?”
n“I-I heard it when I was on Earth 2 days ago. The thing you did in Korea.”
n“…”
nHe heard what happened two days ago when he was on Earth…the man hurriedly opened his mouth as he thought Yoon-seok was offended when his brow furled.
n“I didn’t dig up information about you! The news was already out, so I know everything. What you did on the sixth-floor plaza and what you did there made you famous under the name Bloodseeker!”
nHe’d especially asked not to spread his name to the public. Was it too much to ask? Or did they not intend to keep the promise from the start? The murmuring around Yoon-seok grew uncontrollably while he was thinking quietly.
n“He’s Bloodseeker? That guy?”
n“It was said that he killed a thousand people alone on the sixth-floor plaza. Why on earth is he…?”
n“Bloodseeker? What the hell is a Bloodseeker?”
nThere are still some people who didn’t know the nickname. No, there were far more of those in terms of ratio. And…
nSadly, Yoon-seok was also included.
n“I know what you’re talking about on the sixth floor, but what do you mean by Bloodseeker?”
n“I-is this your first time hearing about it…?”
nWhen Yoon-seok nodded, the man said that a challenger called Jang-Il, who settled on the sixth floor, was spreading his name as if he was worshiping him to those who settled and those who passed by.
nYoon-seok was speechless. When he called him savior, but Bloodseeker…
n‘Did he pick it up from b Bloodseeker’s Ultimatum?’
nIt was too much to be a coincidence. Unless Jang-Il could check the other people’s skills, it didn’t make sense.
n“Just like how there’s an organization on Earth, I heard there’s an organization on the other side, so they exchanged information. Maybe that’s how they know you.”
n“I see.”
n“Well, do you have any more questions…?”
n“No, I don’t.”
nThey knew about Yoon-seok, but why was this man answering all his questions so kindly? He decided to give him one last chance.
n“What were you going to do in the wagon?”
n“T-that…”
nThe man, who opened his mouth to say something, was speechless when he met Yoon-seok’s bloodshot eyes. At some point, his body shook in a cold sweat. The man managed to squeak out a response.
n“Well, because everybody was going to do it…I took General difficulty, so it’ll be over by tomorrow morning….”
nIt might be true, but it wasn’t the answer Yoon-seok wanted. He didn’t feel the need to ask questions again.
nSlash.
nHe was the last challenger to go after the wagon, so he was slaughtered like the rest. The screaming quieted from the carriage. Wellington, who was stabbed in the abdomen, leaned on the carriage wheel and stared blankly at Yoon-seok.
nYoon-seok looked around, then made eye contact with Zerfah. However, unlike before, he couldn’t even force a smile as he avoided his eyes. It was the same for all challengers who didn’t participate in the incident. Just as they did when they attacked the wagon and when Yoon-seok came forward and slaughtered them…
nThose who were still watching from the side turned their heads whenever their eyes met Yoon-seok’s. He felt disgusted, but Yoon-seok held back.
n“…”
nThey were different from those who raided the wagon. They may have sat on the sidelines, but they didn’t participate, so the idea of killing them would simply be the effect of the {Bloodseeker’s Ultimatum}.
nHe was able to hold back with that thought. Of course, it wasn’t easy. Shouldn’t he at least ask them what sins they’ve committed in their lives?
nThe moment he thought so…
nClick.
nThe wagon door opened, and Kanna Blitz stepped down carefully. Wellington’s eyes glowed like a burning lantern just before the wick ran out.
n“Your Majesty…”
n“Don’t say anything.”
nKanna used her divine power to heal him. Soon enough, Wellington’s face, which had gone white from blood loss, had some warmth returned.
nDid she think the temporary measures were over? Leaving Wellington unconscious, Kanna approached Yoon-seok.
n“You said you’re Rick Gerssey, right?”
n“That’s right.”
n“Did you make the boundaries on the wagon?”
n“Yes.”
n“I owe you a lot. Thank you so much. And…”
nKanna bowed to Yoon-seok, stood upright again, and looked at the challengers around her.
n“All of you are…”
nHer words faded out as if no sounds were coming out of her mouth. It was understandable. The mercenaries revolted, and everyone except Yoon-seok pretended not to notice. If Yoon-seok wasn’t here…
nShe couldn’t imagine what would have happened.
n“How could you do this? Are all mercenaries just the same?”
nA hint of hopelessness was heard in her tone, causing it to sound more cynical. The challengers didn’t say anything. He couldn’t understand. Did they have that much conscience, or were they too scared to refute because of Yoon-seok?
nHowever, she didn’t seem inclined to forgive them. Well, there wasn’t much she could do if she didn’t forgive them.
n“I’d rather hide in a pack of wolves than leave my body to you. I’m breaking the contract with you at this moment. Go back to your castle or wherever you came from.”
nThe impact of that sentence exploded a beat later. Breach of contract? What were you going to do? At the same time, the challengers who were smirking with that thought all stood up in a hurry.
n“What? Mission failed due to a breach in contract?”
n“There’s no such thing! Fuck! I’ve never heard of it!
n“There’s still time! If you let me cancel it before then…!”
n“I-I’m going to die if I fail this time!”
nYoon-seok soon understood the situation. Therefore, he took a step forward and secured Kanna after taking out his dual swords. The challengers, who were rushing to Kanna, stopped in their tracks.
nSlash.
nYoon-seok’s sword energy cut the tip of the lead challenger’s nose.
n“That’s it. I’ll kill anyone who moves a step further.”
nYoon-seok’s brief warning was more effective than anything else. They were well over thirty when combined, but they judged that there was no answer by force.
nSo, they changed tracks.
n“Hey, Pontiff Kanna Blitz! This is unfair. Only a section of the group attacked you, but we didn’t do anything!”
nKanna responded to the answer with a stern look. But the challengers didn’t give up.
n“It’s real! Trust me!”
nAt the desperate cry, Yoon-seok casually smirked. What that challenger said was true. He and the other challengers here did nothing. Just as they admitted…
nThey did nothing. No one threatened nor made them do it. It was all their own choice. Then, at least, you should take responsibility for that choice.
n“N-no!”
n“Damn it!”
n
n
nInstead, perhaps they still have one Coin left; some challengers closed their eyes and rushed to Yoon-seok. It didn’t matter how they died, so they wanted to give it a try, but…
nThe result was the same as they’d expected.
nSlashhhh.
nSeveral more bodies collapsed on the floor. And at that moment…
nWhing! Whing! Whing!
nEach burst into a small flash, and the challengers that filled the campsite all disappeared.
n“…”
nA heavy stillness sunk into the campground as if everything that happened was a lie. Yoon-seok looked up at the sky.
nThe stars were still obscured by the cloudy night sky.
n
