Chapter 144 - Not a throw
“The skill.”
“Huh?”
“Your throwing skill,” Blass said to Dohyuk. It was right after their day of training was over. It was when Dohyuk had mastered Flying Master Kicks in Blass’s way.
“Oh, you mean Hand of Yamook?”
“Yeah. I know that it’s your prize for dealing with Aruga.”
“Well… let’s just focus on my kick skill. Isn’t that what we decided?”
“Yes.” Blass nodded but continued, “But that’s only when I’m teaching you. I’m sure you put in the time to practice your skills.”
“So, you’re telling me to dedicate some time to practice that skill?”
“No.” Blass declared, “Use all of your spare time to practice that skill.”
“…”
Dohyuk looked at his hands.
“Well, I did have some fun with the skill but…”
There were instances where Dohyuk successfully used the skill in addition to Giwon’s Nature. But to practice it on a larger scale, all the time? Dohyuk only considered the skill to be secondary at best.
“I know you hate training a primary skill given by a god. I understand.”
“…”
Dohyuk did not speak. He couldn’t object.
“Honestly speaking, the Flying Master Kicks isn’t really that good of a skill for you.”
“Huh? What’s up with that?”
“I’m not talking about the skill in general. It is an excellent skill on its own, but you know that it is incomplete.”
The skill was very practical in one aspect, but it was weak as a whole. You could only use the skill with your feet. Dohyuk could see parts where easier and powerful movements were possible by adding other body parts to it.
“You’ve learned the movement from me, so that should be enough to overpower the weakness, but your skill relies on offense. Sure enough, there are enemies that might be better suited for such a style.”
However, there were enemies that might not match.
“Let’s say there’s an enemy who’s faster and more agile. Or someone’s whose defense allows them to make a counter strike. Your kick won’t work against them.”
“…”
Dohyuk rose up and scratched his head.
“So, I have to change how to fight entirely against them?”
“Yes, it is worth a try for someone like you who fights alone.”
“Hmph.”
Dohyuk also agreed with what Blass said. He too had experienced a hard time against enemies like Blass had explained.
“Okay.” Dohyuk answered, “I’ll try as the instructor says.”
“I see…”
It was impeccable timing. The angel charged toward Dohyuk at an incredible speed, but Dohyuk jumped high off the ground. With his strengthened leg, he was able to jump 20 meters up into the air.
“…So, I have to prepare for everything.”
If he had not trained his skill, this would not have happened.
-********* ************
The angel screamed his head off as he spread out his four wings out from the ground. It was probably to fly straight at Dohyuk. But that’s what he was waiting for.
Dohyuk already had a handful of metals in his hand that he turned into needles. The remaining metal pieces were turned into ropes which wrapped around Dohyuk’s arm for later use.
“Take this.”
It wasn’t a slow, simple movement that was made to hide what he was trying to do. Over fifty needles were fired directly at the angel who was trying to fly up. However, the angel didn’t care since there was no heat in those needles. Tens of needles pierced the angel’s skin, but the angel didn’t mind at all since the needles were pushed out as the angel flew up.
In addition, Dohyuk didn’t care either as he used Double to divide into two right after he threw the needles. The two bodies stuck their legs out to push each other away, and the angel shot past the air where there was no one.
-******** *******
His choice was immediate. The angel turned and flew at one of the Dohyuks. The Dohyuk that was being targeted threw his needles at the angel. And when the angel came closer, Dohyuk combined himself into one again.
While the angel was figuring out what happened, Dohyuk landed on the ground and replenished his metal.
‘It’s close.’
It was a very intense fight. The reason he was tenser this time was because of their location. People from the city could not see Dohyuk anymore. They did not know Dohyuk was fighting an angel right now. Without his lambs’ sights, he had to fight by relying solely on his stats.
The angel quickly found Dohyuk again.
‘It won’t be long.’
Mayhab recognized Dohyuk’s Double after a few times. He wasn’t sure if the angel had such a battle skill too, but it would surely not last that long.
Dohyuk divided himself up again and separated from each other. The angel looked at both Dohyuks while thinking of something. The angel was trying to decipher what Dohyuk had done. Seconds later, the angel moved again toward one of the Dohyuks.
One of the Dohyuks then turned to throw with all his might. However, the angel didn’t care.
The angel now knew that the needles did not cause any damage.
‘Probably.’
If he combined into one now, the angel would attack with something else that he had prepared.
Dohyuk then threw 25 of needles from each hand. They were metal needles that did not have any heat.
When the needles pierced skin, however, they sank in even deeper.
-*** *******
The angel’s eyes widened in shock as he felt pain. The angel did not realize that Dohyuk wasn’t trying his best with the previous throws. When Dohyuk’s needle first damaged the angel’s eyes, Dohyuk realized that the angel had lost his sight by a large margin. That’s why he threw ‘fake’ attacks to make the angel be unwary of his attacks.
-**********!
The angel’s body dashed toward Dohyuk, penetrating Dohyuk’s stomach while his arm was torn apart from his shoulder.
But he didn’t die as the angel lost his aim due to the pain coming from his face.
He also decided to take the damage to keep himself alive. He could’ve dodged by using Double, but he was afraid that the angel was prepared for that already. And that would have held him back from his next attack.
The angel then received an attack from the back.
Before the angel struck Dohyuk, the other Dohyuk threw something he was holding by his both hands to kick. It was made from thick metal, but it was not a needle. It was bigger than a human head and it looked more like a twisted football. Dohyuk kicked with all his might.
Hand of Yamook, didn’t only limit itself from throwing with his hands. After the long training, Dohyuk found the strongest attack he could make with the skill. It was more like a ‘launch’ than a throw.
The angel turned, or tried to turn. But he couldn’t as Dohyuk grabbed the angel so it couldn’t move easily. And that was enough.
