Chapter 14 Absorbing Information

n

n

n“Goodbye, and I wish you the best of luck in high school,”

n“Thank you,” I replied before stepping onto the teleporter.

nI grabbed the handles of my backpack as I waited for the golden light to envelop me.

nMy vision distorted, and it felt as if my stomach had flipped upside down.

nAn extreme sensation of nausea overcame me as I appeared on the other side of Amlas, where my new high school life would begin.

nI managed to get a scholarship into one of the top schools here but just like when I first entered the boarding school that I stayed in for quite a while, I was warned of the nobles.

nI didn’t have many encounters with them in the boarding school, but I definitely understood what they meant.

nThey harassed the lower-level nobles and some of the poorer kids, who basically ended up like slaves.

nThough, I established myself as somebody not to ** with on the first day by bashing one of the little kids who tried to bully me around… with a large book.

nHe’s still in the hospital to this day.

nObviously, his noble family came to talk to me and, upon hearing that I don’t have family, lost interest in me as if their son’s coma meant nothing to them.

n“But I guess that’s also why I don’t have any friends,” I muttered.

nMy body had grown a lot, and now that I’m 14 years old, I can see my stats slowly rising.

n『Status』

nName: Orion

n…

nI haven’t done anything yet my stats had increased by 2 points, now putting me in the positive range.

nWhen I first saw this I almost cried because I thought I would never surpass 0.

n“I’m so proud of myself,” I mutter as I stare up at my status.

nI then glanced down at my body which had grown quite a bit.

nI was about 5’6 with a skinny and pale body.

nI grew out my long dark purple hair but also realized the tips were slowly fading into a light purplish, grayish color.

nFrankly, my body is so weak that I can’t do many physical activities, so I spent most of the time indoors, just studying and studying and studying.

nBut there was a cap to the knowledge I could obtain in that boarding school as it was meant for young children rather than teenagers.

nMost of the information I obtained was about the city and the history of the city.

nThere were some snippets of information on dungeons, but nothing that I haven’t learned already from Arthur.

nThough the most interesting thing that I have learned over these past few years is the information on this world… it’s so bare that you’d think this was a newly discovered planet.

nFirst of all, there are fourteen continents and they branched from an original seven that had all split up after an unknown event.

nBut, the original sizes of those continents and the sizes of the continents now just didn’t add up.

nThe one’s today are at least double the size of the originals…

nThen there is the fact that different races suddenly appeared after this unknown event which I keep speculating was the turning point for this world.

nBut besides all that, it was as if all the information was being covered by a looming shadow.

n“Welcome, may I see your student card?” The lady at the school gate asks, so I pull out my phone and show my student id to her.

nShe then scans my digital id with an L-shaped device.

n“Thank you. You may enter,”

nI then enter the gate, taking in the fresh morning air.

n“Would you like to join the fencing club?” Somebody suddenly comes up to me with a stack of papers.

nAnd within a few seconds, even more people flocked around me, but I wasn’t special as I noticed everybody here was getting swarmed.

n“I’m not interested,”

nAnd upon saying that, they left me in an instant with still a joyous smile on their face.

nWeird…

nAfter checking the time on my phone, I entered the school and saw that I had about thirty minutes left until the opening ceremony would start.

nGuess I have enough time to hit the library.

nI heard the library in this school had the most information, but you had to pass specific tests in order to access the higher levels.

n“But I should still learn more than in that boarding school,” I muttered as I walked through the hallways.

nThe hallways were grand, filled with all types of students.

nSome were arrogant.

nSome were kind.

nSome were introverted.

nAnd some were extroverted.

nThere were also a few new species in this school that weren’t present in my first life.

nIt mainly consisted of elves with a few dark elves scattered around.

nI didn’t know the history between them, but I already assumed they were on bad terms as I always saw them arguing. But it wasn’t something like rivalry… They literally threatened to kill each other and their families.

n“May I see your student id?” The librarian asks.

nShe was an old woman who didn’t seem as old as her appearance showed.

nHer face was slightly wrinkly, her eyes seemed to sag a bit, and her long hair was gray, but besides that, her body was that of a middle-aged woman.

nShe was about 6 feet in height and had an hourglass body.

n“Thank you. You may enter,” She says before hopping back onto her computer after she scanned my id.

nIs this what Arthur called a… Milf?

n“Hey, granny!” I shouted as nobody was present around me.

n“What?” She asks, clearly annoyed with my shouting.

n“How do I take the test for the next level?”

nBut she ignored me.

n“Granny!”

nShe ignored me again.

nThis time I walked up to her desk and said,

n“Granny?”

n“STOP CALLING ME GRANNY!” She shouts, standing up and slamming her desk.

n“… ‘Kay,”

n“What a weirdo,” She mutters before sitting back down, holding herself back from punching me in the face.

n“How do I take the next level test?”

n“You can’t right now. You’re only a freshman,”

nThat’s troublesome… Maybe,

n“Is there an exception?”

n“Yes, but judging from your stats, I’m sure you’re not planning to be an adventurer,”

n“What do you mean by that?”

n“If you want to be an exception, you need to take the adventurer test, which grants you higher leverage in this school upon passing. But, it’s just not worth taking since you’ll probably die no matter how high your stats are,”

n“Ah… Well, that’s fine,” I respond, heading back to the wide selection of books.

nI walked through alleys in between each large bookcase and grabbed the ones I noticed had the word “basics” in them.

nI needed to learn more, but first, I needed to build a good foundation so I could actually learn the more advanced things.

nBut, one particular book caught my eye.

n“This is… greek?” I mutter.

nI was fluent in two languages, Greek and English.

nBut isn’t this a different world?

nI mean, there are fantasy races, monsters, dungeons, futuristic buildings, and unseen transportation.

nBut then there’s greek right in front of me.

nThe main language from my original world.

nI slid it out of its neatly packed case and read the title out loud as if I was in a trance.

n“The History of Ancient Greece,”

nI opened it up and disappointingly was greeted with English.

nBut, I continued to read through the book as I was intrigued by the word “Greece”.

nI dove farther and farther into the information, feeling it flood my mind like a wave at the beach flooding.

nI was in a trance once again but all of a sudden, I arrived at a part that made my heart drop.

nIt felt as if the world around me had stopped.

n“In the year 404 BC… Athens was forced to surrender to Sparta, thus putting an end to the Peloponnesian War….”

nDING DONG

n“KID! The opening ceremony is about to start!”

n
