Chapter 25 Spear Theory (2)

n

n

nNot too stiff and not too flexible while also being made of such a sturdy material…

n“Okay, now can somebody please teach Orion the basics we covered yesterday? Also, please make it quick otherwise, he’s just going to be behind the entire semester,” Mr. Lask asks the class.

nA few people volunteered, but none of them were selected.

nInstead, a human boy with short black hair and pale white skin was chosen.

nHe was a bit more muscular than me but also a bit taller.

n“Yo, what’s up,” He says, walking over to me with an unreadable expression.

n“Yo,”

nWe have an awkward fist bump before we go into the corner of the room, and he begins to describe the basics of the spear quite well.

n“Yeah, so just hold it wherever feels comfortable. The teacher said to hold it in the middle, but that’s honestly not that optimized because if you want to do a double-handed stab, you have to shift your hands down. Plus, you lose-“

n“You lose some range of motion, right?”

n“Yeah,” He responds with a smirk.

n“What?”

n“Seems I don’t need to teach you much if you already know that,”

n“Cool, let’s go back then,”

nHe stared at me just as I was about to walk back.

n“I kind of like you, so let me give you a tip with this teacher… Don’t take everything he says to heart because some of the information he hands out is meant to limit you. This is so he can find talents that manage to break through that limit….” The boy explains.

n“I see… Can he do that?”

n“I mean, I guess. He’s doing it right now, isn’t he?”

n“I guess,” I replied before we made our way back to the group, surprising the teacher as it hadn’t even been a minute.

n“Cy, did he already learn everything?” Mr. Lask asks.

n“Yep. He’s good to go,” The boy, whose name was Cy says and gives him a thumbs-up of confirmation.

n“That’s great, now let’s actually do some physical learning,” He says before twirling his spear above his head and then slamming it on the ground.

nPlease don’t do that… It probably doesn’t matter now, but doing that back in my past life would sometimes cause the spear to crack.

nAnd the amount of times I’ve seen it happen just pisses me off…

nThe lesson continued but I never noticed any limits in his wording which either meant, Cy was trying to get another meaning across, he’s lying to make a fool of me, or he just wants to slow my progress by having me be wary of every single detail said.

n“Okay, swing! Swing! Swing!” The teacher chanted as we had a dual grip on the spear and swung down continuously.

nMy body wasn’t used to my previously refined movements, so I could feel my stamina draining at an insane speed.

nEventually, I could barely feel my arms, but thankfully, we earned a break.

n“HUFF HUFF HUFF HUFF,”

nMy breathing was so heavy that I could see a slight light blue tint glossing over my vision.

nDamn… I should tone it down a bit.

n“You have some talent with the spear. I think you might be even better than me,” Cy comes up to me and sits down next to me on the bleachers.

nGeez… I trained for like four goddamn years in a hellish environment, and this kid is just as good as me… Damn…

nAlso, I’m gonna tone it down on such refined swings. My body isn’t ready to handle it…

nI then took another sip of water from the plastic cup I was holding as Cy stared at me.

n“That’s bad y’know. You should give a hundred percent of your effort, even if it is in training,”

nAh, so he’s one of those guys.

nA genius that trains hard… Such a cheat.

n“Anyway, I heard you had some conflict with the Wony family. You sure do have some balls to ** with them,” Cy chuckled before handing me his cup of water as I ran out.

nI glanced down at the cup before going in for a sip, but I also stuck my nose just a bit further in to smell if there was any poison.

nThe Wony family could’ve sent him, but from what I could tell, he wasn’t trying to drug me.

n“Which family are you from?” I ask before chugging the entire cup.

n“I’m not from a rich family. I’m just your every other day civilian,”

n“Oh, I thought everybody here came from a big family,”

n“Pffft…”

nHe tried to hold in his laugh for some reason before snickering while covering his mouth with his hand and turning his face to the side.

n“There’s no way that would happen. Well, maybe if it was twenty years ago, but now the conflict between the large families is so overwhelming, that sending all of their kids to a school like this is just begging for terrible consequences,”

nHe didn’t need to say anymore as I immediately understood what he was trying to get across.

nI had also seen a few articles on this…

n“So, an inevitable civil war is brewing, right?”

n“Yep, and I’m **ing leaving the city before I get drafted,” He smirks.

n“I think I might do the same,” I muttered.

nThe class quickly resumed, and the teacher continued to not drop any misleading information.

nBut now that I had an idea of Cy’s personality, I knew that the teacher wasn’t dropping any misleading information because we were at the very basics right now.

nHe won’t be able to progress much if he ruins the very foundation.

nDING DONG

n“Okay, make sure to get the paper signed soon, otherwise, you won’t be able to participate in the dungeon trips!” The teacher shouts as we all leave the classroom.

nToday, I was going to clear a dungeon, but first, I had to visit the library.

n“Oh **, you aren’t a slave,” The librarian says with a cheeky grin.

n“Were you hoping I would become one?”

n“Kinda,”

n“Tch… Anyway, I get to enter the next level of the library tomorrow,” I grinned back at her, but she just rolled her eyes as she didn’t believe my words.

n“Yeah, right. How about you go fight a dragon in the meantime,”

n“Oh, how much do you want to bet then?”

n“On if you can enter the next level?” She confirms.

n“Yep,”

n“How about… Five bucks,”

n“Only five bucks?”

n“I only have a five on me,”

n“Well, whatever… Prepare to be shocked,”

nNow, I don’t want to exhaust myself anymore, so I’ll finish the dungeon right now.

n
