nChapter 1212: Scot-Free

nSun Mingyue shook her head and sighed.

nShe got up from the armchair, went down the steps and paced slowly. She pondered slowly, recalling Chu Li’s every previous move in her mind.

nAt that time, Sun Mingyue knew that Chu Li had played some tricks. That inner strength he had was indeed strange, but she did not expect that Chu Li’s cultivation was so powerful that he was able to severely injure Deng Datong.

nIt was also Deng Datong’s fault that he gambled on his chances. He ended up gaining nothing from it.

nSun Mingyue knew that Chu Li only made the promise so quickly because he knew for sure Deng Datong could not recover from his injuries in such a short time span.

nThis Zhao Dahe was truly arrogant. It is useless to force him to do things he did not want to. Not that she had never punished him, but it did not work at all. If people do not fear death, there was no use in threatening them with it. Things were better back when Li Ruolan was still alive, at least there was one person who could prevent Zhao Dahe from going overboard, who could make him obey. He still had this one weakness back then, but once Li Ruolan died, he had no more weaknesses.

nSun Mingyue shook her head and sighed, but still could not come up with any good ideas. Nevertheless, for men, the most key solution of all was enticing them with beautiful women.

nSince ancient times, heroes always found it hard to resist beautiful women. As a matter of fact, it was not an issue of which hero could not, but almost all of them could not.

nHer bright eyes flickered, thinking about the women in the Church.

nAll Holy Church of Light disciples were carefully filtered through and selected from the finest. Most of the male disciples were handsome, and most of the female disciples were beautiful. It was a rare sight to have someone as ugly as Chu Li. He was one of the few exceptions.

nWhen nature made people, it always favored one person more than the others and would concentrate all the strengths and good things on that one person alone. As such, beauty and wisdom would more often than times coexist.

nThose who have excellent qualities would most often than not have better looks than usual people too.

nHowever, amongst the many beautiful female disciples in the Church, there were few who could make Zhao Dahe’s heart race. It was not because they were not beautiful enough, but because it was difficult to get into his heart.

nShe sighed and shook her head. It was all because of Li Ruolan. Due to Li Ruolan’s death, Zhao Dahe’s heart had now completely sealed up.

nDu Ying came in with gentle steps. “Saint…”

n“Why are you back again?” Sun Mingyue said indifferently.

n“It seems that Brother Deng has passed out,” Du Ying whispered softly.

nAlthough she hated Deng Datong, she was a bit worried about him. In case he really died, Junior Brother Zhao would be in big trouble. He would be punished for killing a fellow colleague, and his martial arts would even be crippled.

nHe had already killed the altar master once. If he repeated the same offense again, his punishment would be more severe this time. He would even be banished from the Church. To lose so much because of a certain Deng Datong would not be worth it at all.

n“Passed out?” Sun Mingyue frowned. “His injuries were this severe?”

n“Yes, I’m afraid there’s a risk that he may die. Why not, you go and have a look, Saint?” Du Ying observed Sun Mingyue’s expressions warily.

nSun Mingyue scoffed. “Fine, I’ll go have a look.”

nA smile etched out on Du Ying’s face and she quickly said, “Saint, please follow me.”

nThe two exited Divine Light Basilica, and soon arrived at Li Qubing’s courtyard, and saw Deng Datong on the bed.

nDeng Datong was already unconscious as he laid motionless on the bed as if he had died. His heartbeat could only be felt once after a while. The same goes for his breathing as his chest would only rise and fall once after a long period of time.

n“Saint, would Senior Brother Deng be alright?” Du Ying asked worriedly.

n“Yes, he won’t die.” Sun Mingyue scoffed.

n“That’s good.” Du Ying patted her busty chest, which made them tremble slightly.

nSun Mingyue noticed her ample bosom and stared at her beautiful face thoughtfully.

n“Saint?” Du Ying was flushed by her staring.

nTo be stared at that site, she would feel awkward even if a woman did that, even if she was a Saint.

n“Well, nothing, I’m just thinking about some things.” Sun Mingyue inspected Du Ying carefully and nodded secretly.

nDu Ying looked at Sun Mingyue curiously but did not give it much thought. She turned to stare at Deng Datong again, “Saint, do you plan to cure Senior Brother Deng’s injuries?”

n“No,” Sun Mingyue shook her head and said

n“Alright then.” Du Ying patted her puffed chest again.

nSun Mingyue stretched out her delicate palm and patted it gently on Deng Datong’s chest. After several pats, she put hands flat in the air, about half a meter above Deng Datong. She made a pinch gently.

nDeng Datong floated up, spun around in the air, and remained adrift facing the sky. Sun Mingyue patted him several times again before landing downwards.

nSun Mingyue retracted her delicate palms and said nonchalantly, “it seems that you care a lot about Zhao Dahe.”

n“Huh? No, Saint.” Du Ying shook her head.

nSun Mingyue scoffed. “You think I didn’t notice?”

nDu Ying hurriedly explained herself, “No, Saint. I just can’t stand seeing Senior Brother Deng taking advantage of Junior Brother Zhao like this. Brother Zhao is really pitiful!”

nSun Mingyue laughed. “You’re the first to say that he is pitiful!”

nDu Ying continued, “Senior Brother Deng plotted against him, Saint, you were also putting pressure on him. He had contributed so much but could only manage to become a Branch Leader at a remote place and was assigned so far away.”

n“Gale City is not a remote place,” Sun Mingyue said. “Isn’t your judgment a bit too biased?”

nDu Ying smiled embarrassedly.

nShe suddenly remembered that Gale City was also a renowned city, and not a remote place. However, she always had the impression that it was very far away from Great Light Peak, despite being just one day’s journey away.

nSun Mingyue said, “Forget it, why don’t you try making another trip to Gale City and see if it’s really remote.”

n“Saint, you want to punish Senior Brother Zhao?”

n“Yes. He has injured Deng Datong so heavily, of course, I have to punish him.”

n“This can’t really be blamed on Junior Brother Zhao alone, right?”

n“He caused this injury; how can he not be blamed?” Sun Mingyue replied.

nDu Ying furrowed her eyebrows and said, “I think it is very likely that Brother Deng deliberately did this to himself. Junior Brother Zhao did not really hurt him as much, instead, he seized the opportunity to exaggerate this whole situation.”

n“You’re smart. You even know how to make a countercharge.” Sun Mingyue shook her head and said, “Go.”

n“Yes.” Du Ying nodded helplessly.

n“Oh… ” Deng Datong slowly opened his eyes.

nSun Mingyue glanced at him, unimpressed.

nOf course, those little tricks of Deng Datong’s could not fool her.

nHe had woken up long ago but had been keeping his eyes closed to fake his unconsciousness. Apparently, he heard her wanting to punish Zhao Dahe, so he woke up.

nDeng Datong said, “Saint, you really can’t blame this on Junior Brother Zhao.”

n“Oh? You don’t blame him?” Sun Mingyue’s tone was flat as if there was no trace of emotion mixed in it.

nDeng Datong shook his head and said, “Actually, I blame myself for not being strong enough. I am really ashamed. As a senior, I am far worse than my junior. It shouldn’t have been difficult at all!

nSun Mingyue replied with indifference, “So you’re telling me that you blame yourself.”

n“Yes.” Deng Datong slowly nodded.

nSun Mingyue said, “I’m glad you can think this way. At least I wasn’t wrong to rate you highly.”

n“Thank you, Saint!” Deng Datong clenched his fists in salute.

n“Well, since you’ve said so, I will not punish him,” Sun Mingyue said.

nA peculiar smile etched across Deng Datong’s face. There was an indescribable strangeness about it.

nHe felt that he had shot his own foot again. Deng Datong thought that since the Saint had decided to punish Zhao Dahe, she would not change her mind regardless of whatever or whoever begged her. Hence, he seized this opportunity to display his own generosity of showing mercy. Deng Datong had nothing to lose.

nThough, it never crossed his mind that the Saint would break her usual self and accept his plea. He could not believe that she had changed her mind just like that and withdrew Zhao Dahe’s punishment!

nDeng Datong was furious at himself but at the same time helpless. He managed a smile, otherwise, the Saint would find out his real intention.

nDu Ying could hardly hold her grin. She could see that the Saint had one over him. Clearly, she had used this chance to turn his hypocrisy on himself. Sun Mingyue wanted him to realize that he should have been honest in front of her, that he could not simply pull his filthy tricks on her and get away with it.

n“Heal yourself nicely. Let’s go, Du Ying,” Sun Mingyue said.

n“Yes.” Du Ying responded softly and followed her out of the courtyard, all smiles. They headed towards Divine Light Basilica.

n
