Chapter 13 Mission Reporting

nLin Fan had never expected Xiao Yue to suddenly make a move like this, which was why he hadn’t been able to react in time to stop her.
nBy the time that he had reacted, all three of the people were dead and it was all over.
nLin Fan didn’t know what to say at first, but then he looked at Xiao Yue with a stern look and asked, “Why did you do that?”
nHe naturally knew why she did it since he had also been thinking about doing it.
nIt was clear what these three were after since Lin Fan had recognized them. They were mercenaries who he had seen at the Mercenary Guild.
nThey must have wanted to steal from him after learning that he was a cultivator.
nIn fact, he had been feeling the effects of the Mental Fortitude skill. There had been a voice in the back of his head that had been telling him to kill them since he knew that it would be trouble if he let them live.
nHowever, the part of him that still had the morals of Earth had been ignoring this voice.
nIf he had started killing everyone, what difference was there from being a cold blooded killer?
nBut none of that mattered now since Xiao Yue had already killed all three of them for him.
nXiao Yue looked right into Lin Fan’s eyes and said, “This is for the better, there’s no knowing what they would do if we let them leave.”
nLin Fan could tell from the look in her eyes that there was no convincing her, but there was something that he had to make clear.
nLin Fan revealed a serious look and said, “At the very least, you should listen to me when I give an order. Even if you think it’s wrong, you shouldn’t defy my order without saying a thing.”
nXiao Yue no longer looked as stubborn as before because she knew that Lin Fan was right.
nThe relationship that they had was one of master and servant and by doing this, she had gone against the basic foundation of this relationship which was trust. By going against his order, she had hurt his ability to trust her.
nIf that was the case, would there be a time where he would no longer want her to follow him anymore?
nShe knew that in this world where she had nothing left, it was all because Lin Fan saved her that she was able to live the life that she was currently living. If he were to suddenly leave her, even if she had her cultivation now, she wouldn’t live well.
nNot to mention that Lin Fan was the only person left for her in this world…
nShe couldn’t afford to lose him…
nShe knew that what she did was correct, but she admitted that the way that she had done it was wrong. After all, he had given an order and going against it would hurt his prestige as a master if it was ever known by others.
nSo in the end, Xiao Yue knew what she had to do.
nXiao Yue is moved by your words. Affection has increased by 5.
nLin Fan was confused by this sudden notification by the system, but he didn’t let it show on his face.
nHe knew that unless he showed a stern appearance, the point that he was trying to make wouldn’t get through to Xiao Yue.
nAfter a long period of silence, Xiao Yue suddenly took a step forward before falling to one knee and bowing her head as she said, “I’m sorry, young master.”
nLin Fan could see the sincerity in her actions, so he gave a sigh and said, “Alright, we’ll leave this matter at this. Just don’t let it happen again.”
nXiao Yue bowed her head even lower before saying, “Yes, young master.”
nSeeing that she was willing to reflect on her actions, that was enough for Lin Fan.
nHe was alone in this world and Xiao Yue was one of the few people that he could trust since she was someone that he had tamed. If he had to lose her because of a difference in opinions, he wasn’t willing.
nJust like how Xiao Yue would be alone if he left her, he would also be alone if he left Xiao Yue, so neither of them were willing to lose each other.
nOnce that matter was solved, Lin Fan was about to head over to the corpses when Xiao Yue stopped him.
nShe stood up in front of him and said, “Young master, please leave this to me.”
nLin Fan was about to say something, but before he could say anything, she was already heading towards the corpses.
nIn front of his shocked gaze, she stripped the bodies without any hesitation. She ripped off all their clothes and turned out their belongings until everything was in clear view, including their naked bodies…
nLin Fan had been so shocked by how enthusiastic Xiao Yue had been about doing this that he couldn’t help feeling a bit scared by her.
nBut still, since she had already finished doing it, there was nothing else for him to say.
nLin Fan went through the things that these three had and threw the things that were useful into his Pet Storage Space. At this point, it was honestly more accurate to call it an Item Storage with how many things he had been throwing in there.
nThey had already gotten enough herbs, so there was nothing left for them to do except head back to the Mercenary Guild to report in.
nAs for the corpses of these three, there was no need to do anything to them.
nIf they just left them in the forest, the forest would take care of these corpses for them.
nThey quickly headed back to the city and with their Mercenary Licenses, they were able to quickly get through the gate, which was just one of the conveniences that having this license brought.
nWhen they came back to the Mercenary Guild, everyone turned their gazes to look at them the moment that they came in.
nThere were a few surprised looks among them since those people with the surprised looks had seen the three that had followed them. Those three were famous for their ability to work together and they had even taken down a Grade One Spirit Beast before which was equal to a cultivator in the First Qi Gathering Level.
nEven if Lin Fan was a cultivator, they should have still been able to take him down.
nSeeing this, people started to change their evaluation of Lin Fan as they realized that he was much more dangerous than they had thought.
nLin Fan ignored all of this and headed up to the counter.
nLala wasn’t there anymore, instead it was the senior receptionist from earlier that was manning the counter.
nThe senior receptionist was also surprised to see Lin Fan since she had already heard about the three who had gone after him, but she didn’t let it show on her face as she greeted him with a bright smile, “Hello sir, how can I help you?”
nLin Fan threw the bag that he had been holding onto the counter and said, “I want to turn in a mission.”
nThe senior receptionist didn’t flinch at all as she moved over to the bag that Lin Fan threw down, but when she opened it, she couldn’t help being surprised.
nIt had been quite some time since anyone had found these herbs, so it was definitely good that someone was finally able to finish this mission, but that wasn’t the reason that she was surprised.
nAs she looked through the bag, she found that neither the quantity nor the quality of the herbs were lacking, these were all top grade herbs and there were so many of them…
nAfter counting through all the herbs in the bag, she turned back to Lin Fan with a bright smile and said, “I have confirmed that this is the item that has been requested and that you have finished this mission. Please wait a minute as I prepare your reward.”
nShe nodded at another person that was behind the counter with her who moved over to take the bags. Then she turned to head to a cabinet that was placed behind the counter where the Mercenary Guild stored their money.
nHowever, before she could move, Lin Fan suddenly gave a cough before saying, “Actually, there’s something else I want to report first.”
nThe senior receptionist stopped her step and turned around to look at Lin Fan with a curious look.
nLin Fan just casually reached into his pocket and pulled out three cards that he put on the table before saying, “I wanted to report some lost items.”
nThe senior receptionist was confused until she took a look at the three cards that Lin Fan placed on the counter. However, the moment that she saw the three cards, her eyes immediately narrowed.
nShe picked up the cards and carefully looked at the names on them. Then after confirming to make sure that they were real, she looked at Lin Fan with a complicated look.
nThese three cards were the Mercenary Licenses for the three people who had followed Lin Fan and attacked him.
nFor him to bring these three Mercenary Licenses back, it was clear that it wasn’t at their own volition because no one would be crazy enough to give up their Mercenary Licenses. After all, this was something that you could only receive once and anyone who loses their license would be banned from getting another unless there was a special circumstance.
nThe fact that he had these three cards now most likely meant that…the owners of these cards were dead…
n
