Chapter 56 - An Easy Victory

nAlice laughed maniacally.
nThis was her greatest trump card, and it was also her first time using it.
nEven the judge thought that the match was over when she used the skill.
n“Something’s wrong! Is she doing what I think she’s doing?”
n“That’s right, she disintegrated her own Battle Beast, the Blizzard Stallion…”
n“How ruthless! Does she really want to beat Locke that badly?”
n“Her Battle Beast will be gone for good…”
n“Is she crazy? That’s the greatest taboo a Beastmaster can commit! She has even violated the greatest rule of our academy!”
nThe students’ observations were on point.
nAlthough this “Flying Snow, Fluttering Flowers” was extremely powerful, it came at a significant cost.
nIt was a skill that relied on the disintegration of a Battle Beast.
nLocke had read about the move before. He was thinking just how heartless and unscrupulous this lady could be.
n‘She’s willing to go this far, all to achieve victory in a minor competition?’
nAlice had already played all of her cards, and her mana had been completely depleted. She no longer had any ability to fight back.
n“Let’s see how you’ll dodge this!” Alice shouted.
n“Why would I dodge?” Locke sighed and looked at the snowflakes fluttering in the air. “This skill of yours would work fine as a trap, but if you’re using it to attack, it’s inability to differentiate friend from foe makes it worthless. Moreover, you even sacrificed your precious Battle Beast for this move. In my opinion…”
n“This move is utterly trash!” Then, through telepathy, Locke told Lil’ White, “Let’s end this…”
n“Hiss… Hiss…”
nThe two-headed snake’s eyes flashed red once more, and it began to extend its neck.
n“No… impossible! Some of the snowflakes have already snuck the snake, so why isn’t it damaged?” Looking at the two-headed snake that was about to launch an attack, Alice shouted in despair.
nIn the blink of an eye, two dazzling ice chainsaws broke through the snowflakes that filled the sky and struck the stallion.
nWith the fused body now gone, Alice’s so-called trump card gradually vanished. The snowflakes had returned back to water droplets, and they were raining onto the ground.
nThe Blizzard Stallion did not reappear, it had been erased from existence!
n“Locke… wins!!” The judge shouted!
nAlice sat on the ground in a daze, her face full of disbelief.
nAlthough they were both genius students who had qualified for the Diamond Class.
nThe battle’s results were simply crushing!
nAlice had used all of her strength, and yet, Locke was completely unfazed.
n‘Locke is terrifying! He’s practically a monster!’
n“The hierarchy of the Diamond District is about to shift soon…”
n“Locke is too powerful! I want to be his underling!”
n“He’s so cool…”
n“I want to marry him! Our offspring are guaranteed to be geniuses!”
nBe it male or female, most of the students present had already acknowledged Locke’s strength.
nIt was not as if Adrian had overestimated his sister’s strength! As such, Adrian was left completely dumbfounded. ‘Is Locke really that powerful?’
n“Student Alice! You disintegrated your own Battle Beast. This action is a severe violation of the academy’s rules! Please follow me to the Director of Education’s office!” The judge, who was responsible for supervising the match, stepped forward and said to Alice with a frown.
nInstructor Ollie quickly went forward to placate the judge. He reminded him in a hushed tone, “Judge Helmer… Need I remind you that she’s a member of the White family?”
nUnexpectedly, the judge spat back in a serious expression, “So what if she’s a member of the White Family? Our Academy is not run by her family! Please remember what our role and responsibilities are!”
nAdrian also chimed in, “Please give her some leeway. The White family is willing to pay you for your troubles. I believe that you will be able to obtain the position of Deputy Judge by next month.”
n“B*stard! You dare bribe a judge! The White family is getting bolder by the day! I will report what you just mentioned to me! But for now… Alice! Come with me right now!!”
nAdrian was caught off guard by Helmer’s principles. He had finally met his match.
nWith a mere thought, the Battle Beast, Prison Monkey on Helmer’s shoulder had transformed into a pair of handcuffs! Those handcuffs were used to restrain Alice!
nWith his sister captured, Adrian panicked and left together with Helmer.
nBased on how the brackets were designed, Locke’s next opponent was Adrian from Group A. However, with Adrian now gone…
nOllie had no other choice but to announce, “The duel between Adrian and Locke will be postponed until tomorrow morning! As for the other groups, you must carry on with your matches!”
n“How much did the White family pay Instructor Ollie? How can he show such blatant favoritism?”
n“Yeah! Adrian’s a mess right now. It would’ve been a good opportunity to defeat him!”
n“Sigh! Noble families are really different…”
n“How shameless…”
nThe students in the Diamond Class recalled how Adrian bullied them on a daily basis. They expressed their dissatisfaction with Ollie’s postponement of Adrian’s duels.
nLocke did not mind, however. After receiving permission, he then returned to his dorm to cultivate his Mana Meditation Technique.
nBefore he went to sleep, he visualized his upcoming battle with Adrian.
nLocke had not seen Adrian’s previous battles.
nAlthough that kid was tyrannical, there was no doubt that he was the strongest student in the Diamond Class.
nOtherwise, the students would not have been that eager for him to defeat Adrian.
n“System! Pull up my stats panel.”
n Name: Locke
n Level: 8-star, Bronze1
n Battle Beast: Divine rank Twin-headed White Jade Snake, divine rank Wings of the Sky, divine rank Infinite Fire Element
n Weapon: None
n Skill: Unawakened
n Talent: You are able to control three Battle Beasts regardless of level .
n Talent Description: You can awaken your talent once every time you level up as a Beastmaster. The awakened talent is unknown.
nLocke stared excitedly at his stats.
n“Who knows, I might need to use all three of my Battle Beasts tomorrow…”
nAfter recalling how strong his Battle Beasts were, Locke was rather confident about his upcoming match.
n Ding! System quest issued: Defeat Adrian in tomorrow’s battle and obtain first place!
n System Reward: 100 Function Points!
nLocke immediately shot up from his bed.
n“And I was just complaining that there were no rewards for the previous duels! So, it has finally appeared, huh?”
n“100 Function Points is enough, it should be enough to raise my tier by one. Now that my mobility has been covered, it’s time to raise my attack prowess!”
nWith that, Locke pulled up the System’s interface once more and checked the requirements for Infinite Fire Element’s advancement.
n Tempest Wood x15, Inextinguishable Fire Core x13, and Lofty Grass x10.
nAlthough there were only three materials listed, Locke recalled that they were all extremely expensive.
nLocke could feel his heart aching!
nAfter all, even with his VIP discount, these materials would still cost most, if not all, of his current savings!
n1 I believe that the author is just re-using Locke’s stats panel from the early chapters. As such, the later portion about the talent description is probably incorrect as well. However, I will not be changing any of the descriptions as I’m unsure whether Locke has leveled up again since he last reached the silver-tier.
