nOnce Adrian had signed the contract, Locke carefully folded the contract and placed it into his pocket.
nWith that, in addition to the profits he had earned from selling the Beast Eggs, Locke’s net worth had surpassed 4 billion federal coins!
nHe was rich!
nHowever, upon recalling the perverse requirements for upgrading his Battle Beasts, his excitement was reduced.
nOn the other hand, he had also gained a lot, so there was no reason for him to be depressed. He immediately regained his smile and asked, “Where is that tome I requested?”
n“It’s… It’s on the fifth floor…” Adrian had yet to recover from his dazed state.
nLocke grabbed Adrian by the collar again!
nThen, Gale Wings appeared! With its help, the two of them quickly flew to the fifth floor!
nLocke did not use any violent means to open the finely crafted door before him. After all, it would be too much to extort Adrian and smash up his property in a single day.
nThus, he gestured for Adrian to open the door.
n“This door requires an eye scan to work. Carry me up…” Adrian helplessly sought the assistance of the “robber”.
nHowever, he had to swallow his anger. Otherwise, Locke might have thrown him down from the fifth floor!
nUpon entering the store room, Locke noticed that it contained was littered with treasures and various jewels.
n‘The White family is no ordinary wealthy family!’
nUpon noticing Adrian’s ashen face, he commented, “Don’t worry, I’ve already gotten the money I want. All I need now is the tome for the Beast Fusion skill…”
nAlthough Locke was greedy, he had a bottom line. After all, he had already signed a contract. If he had requested for gold and jewelry now, he would be no different from an actual robber!
nAdrian let out a sigh of relief upon hearing Locke’s words. He pointed to the far right and said, “There’s a secret door in the upper right corner of the wall. The tome is in there…”
nLocke looked at the direction Adrian stated and trotted over. He then extended his hands to search the dark gray wall…
n“Got it!” After finding a trigger, Locke pressed down on it!
n“Rumble… Rumble…”
nThe wall began to move!
nThe wall was covered in dust, and it seemed that it had been a long time since anyone had activated the trigger.
nSoon, a hidden room appeared in front of Locke!
nThe room was not big, and all it contained was a tome placed on top of a stone platform.
nAfter picking it up, Locke noticed that the tome’s pages were created from Daemon leather!
nLocke had heard of Daemon leather paper.
nThey were extremely hard to come by!
nNot only were they waterproof, fireproof, dust-proof, and so on, the words written on those papers would not fade as well!
nThe passage of time was powerless before the leather paper!
nThe leather papers were not something that could be easily bought with money!
nMoreover, even if Locke had disregarded the contents of the tome, he would still be able to fetch a sky-high price for it due to the material that was used!
nIt was at this moment that Locke realized that he had struck jackpot!
nAdrian, who was lying on the ground, could already hear the sound of his heart breaking.
nHe had never thought that his desire to kill a kid from an ordinary family would bring such a huge disaster to his family!
nMoreover, his family’s treasured tome that had been passed down from generation to generation had been taken away. This also meant that the White family had lost their biggest bargaining chip in the world.
nHowever, on second thought, he felt that it was worth trading his and Alice’s life for the tome. After all, as long as he was still alive, he would be able to regain everything he lost…
nLocke stashed the tome away in his dimensional inventory. Upon exiting the room, he put his hands behind his back and began to wander around store room.
nSince most of the items were gold and jewelry, anything that was different had stood out like a sore thumb.
nIn regards to this, Locke had discovered something unique.
nHe grabbed Adrian and stopped in front of a shelf. He looked at a jar and asked, “What’s in there?”
n“What’s in there? Is it very precious?”
nMore than half of the jar was filled with soil, and the object that the soil was supporting looked very much like an ordinary shred of grass.
nIt was a particularly noticeable object.
nAdrian sighed, “This is the ‘Heart-saving Grass’, it’s one of the best life-saving medicines.”
n“Its appearance is not much different from ordinary grass, so many people don’t recognize it. Don’t hurt it… This is a gift from a famous doctor to my family.”
nLocke’s eyes rolled as he listened to Adrian’s explanation…
nAdrian said, “Sigh… If you like it, then take it. This thing is very valuable. As long as you don’t come looking for trouble with me and my sister in the future…”
nLocke nodded and said, “Okay! It’s a deal then! But if you still come looking for trouble with me, don’t blame me…”
nAfter getting this promise, Adrian nodded repeatedly, indicating that he would never dare to provoke Locke again!
nWhile hugging the jar, Locke whistled and left the castle.
nHis harvest was too great, and as such, Locke decided to bring his parents to the most upscale restaurant in the Holy City to celebrate!
nHowever, after a few steps out of the castle, Locke noticed that the castle was surrounded by many vehicles.
nMoreover, the vehicles were all luxury cars.
nThe people in the car seemed to have noticed Locke. In response, a middle-aged man with a mustache and neatly combed hair who was dressed in a high-class suit, immediately stepped out of one of the cars.
nHe stepped forward and bowed. “Hello, Mr. Locke. I’m the head butler of the Estelle family, Löw. The head of the family would like to invite you to join a banquet tonight…”
nWith that, the people in the cars all got out of the car and saluted Locke in unison.
nLocke carefully sized up the people present.
nThe people were very polite, but this did not completely dispel Locke’s doubts.
nHe was not a big shot, and as such, he wondered why they were showing him this much respect.
nHe was on his guard!
nAfter giving a smile, Locke continued to walk forward. When he passed by the butler named Löw, he told him, “Sorry, I’m not interested. Though I appreciate your master’s invitation.”
nThis was obviously not the answer Löw wanted. As such, he immediately went forward and blocked Locke’s path once again.
nThis time, Löw and the others bowed deeply,
n“Mr. Locke! Please reconsider. The family head is sincere in befriending you. Moreover, he has prepared a welcome gift. Please honor my master’s request!”
nLocke was initially enraged by the butler’s actions.
nWhile he could not speak for the other cities, at the very least, no one in the Holy City could stop him!
nHowever, once he heard that the other party had prepared a gift, he sighed and said, “Alright! But I’ll warn you beforehand, if the chef’s cooking is not to my liking, I will turn around and leave. Don’t blame me for showing you disrespect when that happens!”
n“Yes! I can guarantee that our head chef is the best within the Holy City…” Löw was delighted at Locke’s response.
n‘Sigh, today is truly a fruitful day!’ Locke sat in the limousine and unconsciously looked behind him.
nHe then noticed that another motorcade had drove into the White family’s castle…
n
