nXu Youning held the quilt and turned around, thinking that Mu Sijue had to be very angry.
nHe had ordered that she had to die but she escaped.
nFor Mu Sijue, it would be equal to challenging his authority, which was absolutely intolerable.
nBut she had escaped. So Mu Sijue couldn’t do anything to her.
nThinking about it, Xu Youning closed her eyes. Before falling asleep, she gently whispered,
n“Goodbye, Mu Sijue.”
nThe moment she decided to be Mu Sijue’s woman, Xu Youning had prepared to leave him someday. She clearly knew that she and Mu Sijue had no future.
nThe day had finally arrived. But she had promised herself that she couldn’t be sad for too long.
nBesides, what she was about to face was more than an emergency. She had to put away the terrible emotions as soon as possible in case Kang Ruicheng would suspect.
nAs for Mu Sijue and her, they’d better… never see each other again.
nWhile thinking, Xu Youning slowly fell asleep. Before she lost her consciousness, a teardrop fell from her eye. She firmly closed her eyes and made the tear untraceable.
nNobody would ever know she had cried for Mu Sijue…
nXu Youning didn’t sleep for too long. She automatically woke up at noon and then she heard the doorbell ringing.
nShe cautiously took out a gun from the bag and held it to the door. She asked with full alertness, “Who is it?”
n“It’s me, Wang Hu.” Wang Hu’s excited voice went through the door. “The person sent by Brother Cheng arrived and I’ve got your lunch ready. You see…”
n“I know.” Xu Youning sounded quiet, and she didn’t put the gun down. “You can leave now. I’ll go downstairs later.”
n“Okay, see you soon!” Wang Hu’s voice sounded normal. Then he left.
nXu Youning heard Wang Hu’s steps as they went farther and farther. After she was assured that there was nothing to be worried about, she put the gun behind her waist, pushed the door open and walked out.
nThe man sent by Kang Ruicheng was called Xue Zhaoqing, who was deeply trusted by Kang Ruicheng. Kang Ruicheng once said that he believed that Xue Zhaoqing was the only one who would never betray him.
nAll those years Xue Zhaoqing had been following Kang Ruicheng, and he was always valued. Since he was being sent there to get her, it was pretty simple for Xu Youning to see what Kang Ruicheng thought.
nTo be frank, Kang Ruicheng was still suspicious of her. He sent Xue Zhaoqing to pick her up, which could not only assure her safety but also let him check if Xu Youning had changed her mind.
nAt the first sight of Xu Youning, Xue Zhaoqing doubted. “Didn’t you escape from Mu Sijue’s followers? Why didn’t you get hurt?”
nSeveral years back, Xue Zhaoqing and Xu Youning had been trained by Kang Ruicheng together. From the first time they met, they had always given each other a hard time.
nSince they were both of great help to Kang Ruicheng but they had an awful relationship, they used every chance they had to ironize and suspect each other.
nTheir strengths were similar. But Xue Zhaoqing couldn’t possibly win against her in quarreling. So Xue Zhaoqing was definitely looking for death.
nXu Youning didn’t answer. Instead, she asked Xue Zhaoqing, “You think I should get hurt?”
nXue Zhaoqing coldly smiled, “I know who Mu Sijue is. You couldn’t possibly get away from him safely and completely.”
n“For you, it’s impossible. But for me, it’s not too difficult.” Xu Youning reasonably waved her hand. “I just escaped from Mu Sijue’s grasp without much effort.”
n“It’s impossible!” Xue Zhaoqing’s eyes were sharp, as if they would burn and expose Xu Youning’s true face. “Xu Youning, there has to be something fishy!”
nXu Youning smiled. “Xue Zhaoqing, I hate people like you the most. In your mind, the things you can’t do can never be finished by others. If someone succeeds, you think it was thanks to some trick.”
nAfter a pause, Xu Youning helplessly glanced at Xue Zhaoqing. “Okay, I admit I used a trick. But it’s a trick you can’t learn—”
nXue Zhaoqing didn’t want to lose. “You don’t dare to tell me?”
nXu Youning shrugged, “I seduced one of Mu Sijue’s followers. At last, he found that he really didn’t want me to die, so he let me go.” Xu Youning carefully looked at Xue Zhaoqing and gave him a desperate eye, “Beauty and loveliness are inborn. You… are too awful. You will never understand it for the rest of your life.”
n“Xu Youning, don’t try to annoy me with those words.” Xue Zhaoqing delivered a new phone to Xu Youning. “I will keep my eyes on you. You’d better be careful… don’t give me the chance!”
n“You should be careful too.” Xu Youning said with contempt as she unwrapped the phone, to later throw the old one to the garbage can. “I hear that you haven’t made any progress recently. Maybe you’ll be a dead man before I reveal something.”
nThe minute she finished her words, the new phone was turned on. Xu Youning slid a new SIM card and shook it in front of Xue Zhaoqing’s eyes. Then she put on an innocent smile to say, “Thank you.”
nThen she walked directly to the diner to enjoy her lunch.
nShe forced herself to adjust her emotions in order that nobody could see anything strange from her reactions. It seemed that things were going well. Even if Xue Zhaoqing suspected her, he had no proof.
nBut it was undeniable that Xue Zhaoqing would get in the way of her plan. If she had the chance, she had to get rid of Xue Zhaoqing first.
nAfter lunch, Xue Zhaoqing took her to the helicopter which went back to City A.
nCity A was not far from City C, so it only took them less than two hours to land on a private hardstand.
nXu Youning got out of the aircraft and saw Kang Ruicheng waiting for her in a nearby distance at the first sight, just like that time many years before.
nThat time, after she finished her training, she was assigned a task which would be finished with several seniors. It was a tough task and Kang Ruicheng reminded her in advance that it didn’t matter if she failed as long as she tried her best.
nHowever, while fulfilling the task, she had some unknown power and smoothly finished it.
nWhen they went back to the base, she got out of the plane and saw Kang Ruicheng instantly. He was standing near and smiling at her as if he specially waited there for her successful return.
nBy then, her happiness was even bigger than how she felt after finishing the task. She even felt it was worthwhile to get hurt during the mission.
nBut her heart was completely dead at the moment. She wanted to slap herself every time she remembered the excitement and joy she had back then.
nKang Ruicheng walked over and looked at Xu Youning. “What’s wrong?”
nXu Youning remembered she shouldn’t let others see her calmness. But it was fine since she had an excellent excuse.
nWith a blink, Xu Youning’s eyes turned red. She lowered her eyes, not saying a word.
nKang Ruicheng seemed to have understood something. He softly embraced her and said, “Don’t be sad. Your grandma wouldn’t want to see you like this.”
nXu Youning nodded while still choking. She got out of Kang Ruicheng’s arms and looked at him with those watery eyes. “Take me back, okay?”
nHer expression looked just like the time when she was accidentally saved by Kang Ruicheng long ago, full of trust and dependence.
nKang Ruicheng wiped off the tears on Xu Youning’s face and his voice sounded particularly gentle. “All right.”
nHe took Xu Youning back to the old house of the Kang family.
nLooking at the quaint house, Xu Youning suddenly remembered Mu Sijue.
nThe Mu family’s old house had a style that was very different from that of the Kangs, but it had the same style when it came to respecting the older generation. Once stepping in, you could feel the respect the current host held for the previous generation.
nAmazingly, Mu Sijue and Kang Ruicheng were both cruel and bloody.
n“A Ning?” Kang Ruicheng quietly observed Xu Youning but his tone was considerate. “Do you need to rest? I can ask someone to arrange a room for you.”
n“No. I had enough rest this morning.” Xu Youning sat on the couch. “Don’t you have questions for me? You can ask me now.”
nKang Ruicheng’s deep eyes stopped on Xu Youning’s face. Her slightest movement couldn’t escape his eyes.
nHe asked, “I received a message that Mu Sijue locked you up. How did you manage to escape?”
nXu Youning smiled. “Mu Sijue has a follower he trusts the most whose name is Ah Guang. I never knew when I would need his help, so I maintained a good relationship with him. Mu Sijue ordered him to finish me but he couldn’t do it in the end and released me. It’s possible that I wouldn’t have escaped successfully on my own, so it’s all thanks to him.”
nKang Ruicheng stopped for a moment. “He likes you?”
nXu Youning shrugged and smiled candidly. “Love is blind. He might be severely punished by Mu Sijue when he goes back. But it’s none of my business.”
nKang Ruicheng was apparently satisfied with her reaction. He nodded and asked, “A Ning, what plans do you have next?”
n“I only have one plan—to kill Mu Sijue.” Her eyes were full of hatred. “I will do everything, if that helps in avenging my grandma, even dying.”
n“Don’t be like this.” Kang Ruicheng held Xu Youning’s hand. “I will help you.”
nXu Youning’s eyes were reddened and she asked blankly, “Can we kill Mu Sijue?”
n“We can if you want.” Kang Ruicheng took out a piece of tissue and passed it to Xu Youning. “Stop crying.”
nXu Youning lowered her head and covered her eyes with the tissue.
nNo one saw the cruelty in her eyes.
nAfter a short while, Xu Youning lifted her head. “Mu Sijue sent people to chase me?”
n“I heard something of the sort.” Kang Ruicheng’s eyes turned cold. “Do you still like him?”
n“How is that possible?” Xu Youning coldly hummed, “He murdered my grandma. I want to kill him thousands of times. Like him? Am I crazy?”
n“A Ning, don’t get excited.” Kang Ruicheng pressed Xu Youning and comforted her in a low voice. “Trust me, I’ll do your grandma justice.”
nXu Youning covered her eyes and tears flowed out from between her fingers.
nKang Ruicheng would do her grandma justice?
nHa, she was there to seek justice for her grandma from Kang Ruicheng!
n
